Eternity, are you a bot?? <-- I wonder if he's programmed to respond to questions There seem to be "newbie" accounts that use such plagiarizing bots to beef up their activity counts. Yes, and I've seen adds for "Senior Member" accounts for sale. Perhaps people run comment-bots and then sell the accounts. Accounts for sale? Wow. I would have never dreamed. Maybe all my hours on here can be worth something yet. After all the hours I have spent reading this thread, I sincerely hope 'mature' accounts are NOT going cheap. It would be heartbreaking. They were talking about it in the Meta section one day. IIRC ~0.1BTC is the going rate for Sr. Member. But I think it is a bad idea to sell an account because they can be used to abuse trust. Remember, for every person who posts here regularly, there's like 50 lurkers or something (I've seen estimates but can't recall exactly). So if a forum member who many readers follow and trust were to sell an account to someone who turned out to be a scammer, it could cause a lot of problems! What!? 0.1BTC? 100BTC and I would be tempted. I agree that it is problematic for the community to sell established accounts. Besides, BitChick and BitchicksHusband are team on here. It would feel like a divorce scandal if I sold off my account!

Maybe the seller @622 is Second Market? [ ... ] Maybe that was just a buy for one client who knows almost nothing about Bitcoin but was looking for new assets to invest in. The client is happy with his 55% rate and just want to sell his bitcoins at this price and SecondMarket does not want to take the risk [ ... ]
Could be, but SMBIT probably has a reserve of BTC that they "sell" to themseves at the current market price when a new client comes in, and that they replenish later at their convenience, looking for the lowest price of couse. The started with ~17'000 BTC before they had any clients.

It seems more likely that consciousness is rationalization after the actions.
mmm ... it's a very interesting thought, thank you. I still think there is something beyond consciousness, perhaps sub-conscious or super-conscious, that dominates our existence. or rather, something outside our understanding of this reality that we are constantly in communication with, yet completely unaware of. I agree. I have no idea what it is and it seems it must be some sort of emergent property

The laws of nature (assuming you know all of them perfectly, and we don't) are perfectly predicable,
Quantum physics and chaos theory say no. Chaos thoery is totally predictable doofus ...fractals!!

Dont Forget......Very bullish on thread count we will break 7000 in 2 hours What about the day that Bitcoin prices surpass the number of thread pages on the Wall Observer? Now that is worth a party! would be interesting to watch... We should start drawing a log chart with the BTC exchange rate and the number of posts in this thread and watch the "spread" shrinking week after week Done - We are roughly looking at September 2015, unless we align during the March 2015 bubble cycle... edit: Sorry about all the white space! (*white space removal free of charge Much appreciated!this is beautiful. Thank you. No worries... it was either this or a train pic. What about the day that Bitcoin prices surpass the number of thread pages on the Wall Observer? Now that is worth a party!
Totally agree! and that day shall become known as an international holiday. Wall Observer Thread Parity Day! (*I'm sure someone can come up with a better name*) I like it! Or "Wall Observer Thread Ultimate Parity Party - The "WOTUP Party".But yeah, logarithmic functions are really mind blowing, for example: computers were not even imagined 1000 years ago. the internet was not even imagined 100 years ago. a solution to the problem of the double-spend* issue was not even imagined 10 years ago... I wonder what the next 1 year might bring? It sure is exciting... especially now that technology accelerates the timeline of just about everything, so we can actually experience multiple innovations during our one short lifetime. You're very right.*also - quick thought I just had about that whole Byzantine Generals problem, which I have heard people say that bitcoin apparently solved. I'm not so sure about that.
I wonder if the computer science part of the problem was even addressed at all. I think what satoshi did was provide an incentive model as a workaround to the problem. By providing the generals enough incentive, you can effectively prevent them from acting maliciously, but this system still can not provably prevent malicious actors in the Byzantine Generals problem. at least as far as I understand it.

Done - We are roughly looking at September 2015, unless we align during the March 2015 bubble cycle... LOL, GREAT Post a donation address! The only thing that could distort this model is that the number of pages in this thread will start an exponential trend You are so right! But maybe this whole thread is one big "Observer Effect" (hell - it's in the name of the thread!)... The Observer Effect: "Changes that the act of observation will make on a phenomenon being observed." (Side note: I have never received a donation before... that is so cool! There are some very nice people on this forum.) edit: Had to add this...

However it's not really exponential growth. Also i think the chart for the XBT/USD value is not nearly steep enough. It's a linear scale and it should be roughly exponential on a log scale, thus on a linear scale it should go off the chart in no time at all.

I play a little game to guess the price via the postings and headlines on here. It's much more fun than just watching some numbers move around.
