It's funny when a disruptive technology strives to conform to standards of which it's supposedly disruptive.

Which standard do you think this technology should be disruptive of - the bitcoin symbols, or the bitcoin subunits?  That's pretty much all this press release mentions.

Getting lower before getting higher always has been the way for any asset (not only bitcoin). Nevertheless; BTC has proven itself unpredictable in SO MANY ways so far. Whether you like it or not, chances are only a handful of people will know what happens from now on. Don't forget; the bearwhale could be around the corner!

If that hasn't ended the downtrend I'll eat my own hat.

Shorts are high, but I am sure most of them are sitting on massive gains from the overall downtrend, so they can take a beating. Also longs measured in bitcoins have increased the last few days even more than shorts. I took my 25% profit already, so I don't really care at the moment where it goes.

The meeting will focus on issues related to clearing Non-Deliverable Forwards (NDFs) and the digital currency bitcoin. The meeting will consist of two panels. The first panel will discuss whether a clearing mandate   is appropriate for NDFs, with a particular focus on how such a mandate would impact foreign exchange contracts  . The second panel will discuss CFTC’s jurisdiction with respect to derivatives contracts that reference the digital currency bitcoin.
