Once again mods doing a bang up job. Got rid of all the trolls, and now they're working overtime to keep the thread on topic of BTC/USD.

[...]

Next time, go for Beanie Babies.

Bear troll mode on again, huh? Cheesy

Not that I disagree with what you say, but I do notice a change of tone between above and below...

Then why all the negativity, Torque? It was only created in 2009, and things have been going really well. In 2014 lots of good things have happened, same as in 2011 and 2012, despite (or because? Productivity might actually increase while prices decrease) the price decreases. Hell, look at the valuation of Coinbase at 400 million recently.

Shit's exploding, the price just exploded faster so it had to implode a little. Market always leads the economy.
I still agree with this post, just got to have some fun in the meantime. Cheesy

For over a year now I've been warning that bear markets can occur with TONS of positive news and people will chase the bull traps associated with them. I actually think that bear markets and lulls are the time when there's the highest productivity and most progress in Bitcoin.

Are you suggesting an OP w/ thread moderation privileges supersedes a forum mod?

isnt it wall observer BTC/USD what we talk here??... that XRP premined coin should not be mentioned here. 100% offtopic.

Talking about price going south is both depressing and boring.  Been doing it for over a year now, could use some variety in this thread.

This is a self-moderated topic. If you do not want to be moderated by the person who started this topic, create a new topic.

That does not necessarily mean that an actual mod can't moderate the topic, it's just a notice that the OP can also moderate the topic, and if you do not like that, you should start a new topic.

In fact, there was another mod who relatively recently said they've been cleaning up old OT posts in this thread.

Yea so, this disclaimer actually applies to moderation by the creator, not lack of moderation. Pretty sure global forum rules aren't trumped by the whim of a thread creator. But maybe I'm wrong? Brb starting self-moderated scam and hardcore porn threads.

Should I start mining Ripple? How much of it was pre-mined? I'm not going to consider it if over 10% was pre-mined.

100%

Ahh nice, so 100% was not pre-mined?

It's not even mined. It's created out of thin air like fiat.

and then traded for bitcoin.

What are the guesses about the state of the Active Swaps on Bitfinex?
I don't think this usual 5<x<10 USD/BTC asymmetry would be manageable in times like these if USD swaps were >>50% spent on >2:1 leverage ratios.

Doesn't matter. Bfx is selling it's virtual coins by making use of Fractional Reserve.

316 fell, next horizontal support would be 275.

Getting closer to 1 billion market cap.

Out of curiosity Blitz: do you think 275 will hold? There has been a lot of talk about the 270ish level around here, and often it has been called 'the real bottom'. Given the flurry of bad bottom calls of the past 10 months or so I'm very sceptical about that, although there will likely be a major battle around that level. But what do you think?

Second: if 270-ish gets broken, do you expect Bitcoin to crumble down to the high 100's?

Jed is bound to his 10.000 limit for the first two years. After that it rises to 20.000 for the third and fourth year. After that he basically do what he wishes, but Ripple will likely succeed even before he reaches the 20.000 limit. Jed is of no concern: why would he unload all his XRP (and take on all the legal trouble, because he's bound to not sell) while denying himself the chance to become a multimillionaire/ billionaire? Jed never finishes what he starts, he might be slightly unstable from time to time, but even he is not as retarded to make such a move.

Considering it's fully centralised they can probably easily program in a set of restrictions on his coins to enforce the 10k and 20k per week rules.

Good thinking, and this has been proposed as a solution when he was unloading earlier this year (before he got bound to his current agreement). For some reason Ripple Labs did not choose that option, but given that Ripple Labs knows (and probably tracks) all his wallets it shouldn't be that hard to limit the rate in which he can sell XRP. Another advantage of centralized systems if you think about it.
