pardon me but not a very convincing answer my dear. you just "like" this coin very much? i want to know why sprout is not another scammy pumpanddump coin. i want to believe in this coin but just cant find any good reason to buy it, just as you(who supposely have over billion coins) cant give me any good reason other than for self benefit. hard to believe you are making any decent amount of money trading it.

I think 10 to 15 active connections are enough for sinc.
So, at the top of your "sprouts.conf" file write this line:
maxconnections=12

By the way, I got at least 7 active connections without .conf file.
So, if you have still problem then try to run the wallet without .conf file.

Be sure you have the have the latest version (v0.1.2.2-gd0cbc83) and that the sprouts.conf has the latest nodes from here:

Is there a guide or some basic step by step information for the wallet or mining/staking?  I'm new to this and don't know what to do despite trying to follow previous posts.

Very frustrating getting the wallet to connect to the network.  I've tried everything suggested on here.  I have other alt coins with similar wallets running and syncing fine however, the one difference I see is in the conf file.  My other coin conf files have  "port" and "rpcport" #s in them where the sprouts.conf does not.  Does that make a difference?  If so,what port #s do I use?

1.- Download and extract the Sprouts.exe file to a folder(rename folder to Sprouts) on your computer.

- Click on the Sprouts .exe file to open the open the wallet.
- In the menu at the top select "Help" and then "About Sprouts"
- Make sure you see "Sprouts v0.1.2.2-gd0cbc83"
- If correct, close the wallet.

2. Download the Sprouts snapshot from:

-Follow the instructions in this post to extract the correct files to your  Sprouts folder

If a wallet does not sync up its usually just one of two things: 

1) the config file isn't setup up correctly (could it be misspelled? .. it should be sprouts.conf not sprout.conf or sprouts.conf.txt ... maybe its in the wrong directory: it should be in the same directory as the wallet.dat file), or

2) a firewall somewhere is blocking access.

today i got error when i open sprout wallet.

EXCEPTION: St13runtime_error

it was working fine last night.
i did everything.. delete whole folder , and start with new.
but always i error.

Incredible how hard it is to get the wallet to work, nothing working for me This is one big hurdle that keeps people from investing into small altcoins.

I downloaded and installed the wallet on 2017-08-17 (three days ago) and used the method I described in my previous post. I installed the wallet on a Win 10 system and had no problems at all. With the snapshot installed it took less than 10 minutes to sync to the network. Currently staking and says on day 2.

My only suggestion is to make a backup of your wallet.dat file(try manually and not through the wallet as well, meaning make a copy of the wallet.dat file in appdata\roaming\Sprouts) ---Always make a backup of your wallet.dat file---

- Then delete the whole Sprouts folder in appdata\roaming.
- Start the wallet again from the Sprouts.exe file you extracted and then close the wallet.
- Extract the correct files from the snapshot to the  new appdata\roaming\Sprouts folder and let the wallet sync to the network.
  Note: You must also create a sprouts.conf file in the appdata\roaming\Sprouts folder with the correct nodes.
- Restart the wallet
- Only when the wallet is synced, close the wallet again and replace the new wallet.dat file in appdata\roaming\Sprouts with your backup wallet.dat file. Start the wallet again.
