deleted everything except wallet.dat and solaris.conf inside data directory and wallet synchronized successfully.

I believe I had a similar result when starting up the Masternode first time. As far as I remember, it resolved itself. Try restating you Desktop wallet and try the command again?

Yes, I used your guide (using existing vps though). Only problem I found was that ./solarisd stop is depricated and you should use ./solaris-cli stop instead.
