I've heard multiple stories about what happened to the developer. Some people are stating that Carsen left after he found out that Tor wasn't supportive of torcoin using their logo and was threatening to sue, and others have been saying that Carsen ripped off torcoin with the torcoin he received being the head developer for a short amount of time. Anyone have evidence as to which of these is correct?

He left because of the first reason and also because @TheTorCoin wasn't ready to coorporate or listen to anyone other than himself and so is not willing to change anything he thinks is right.


This project was crazy. Its a good one. @TheTorCoin simply destroyed it with his "attitude"

I still have some TOR though but the chances of this coin rising back is zero in the current hands.

Scamming the Scammer: How I Hacked the TorCoin Faucet

A few things to know about the faucet: 1. It pays out and resets on the 56th minute of every hour. 2. It checks for unique IPs and unique TorCoin deposit addresses.

The Tor Browser (ironically) can be used to give you a unique IP every time you visit the site. Coinexchange.io lets you create a very large number of functioning TorCoin deposit addresses. These can just be stored in a text file. Now, the only thing holding you back is how fast you can do the Capcha. The payout and the reset happens every hour. I've got the faucet to pay out up to 50 times per hour. All my TorCoin was then transfered to Cryptopia.co.nz where it was sold for Litecoin using their TOR/LTE pair.

Whether it was/is a scam or not doesn't matter much at this point. The coin has been abandoned by its "creator" and there is no active dev. A few hopefuls are still buying what few are on the couple of exchanges it is listed on and a few more are still clinging on to their bags. Definitely not worth bothering with this because you will just lose money.

My guess is that Carsen was always a scammer like people claimed and that he is the person behind thetorcoin.

Some quick cash, good for him. Glad he made a few bucks.

everything even holding more than 1,000,000 Torcoin?

The first was a pump and dump scam from day-1. The second appears to be a legit and very promising project

To give you an example why it was a scam, the torcoin dev falsely claimed that torcoin supported TOR but it didn't. There are many other reasons why it was an obvious scam but I am too lazy to write them.

If you have nothing better to do this ann is a really funny read. People pointing legit reasons whyTORscoin is a scam and shillers who lost money calling those who spoke the truth scammers. Just see the latest response from Tomason. Instead of admitting he was wrong he keeps hoping and keeps saying that I was the bad guy. Well, I can't feel bad for him.
