I think there is nothing wrong with Rodri's statement. He is trying to relieve the tension. Real Madrid seems also tends to be more calmed now. It is a wise way that Rodri can do right now, he also think realistically about his possible future. Rodri is Spanish football, he was born in Madrid. He must assume it is not impossible that he returns to Spain and join Real Madrid someday. Although he has a contract with man City until 2027, we don't know that he will stay in Man City until the end of his contract. If there is an offer from Real Madrid, he may try to take the opportunity to join Real Madrid. Well, this is football, everything is possible to happen.  Wink
You are right, even Real Madrid has lured several players from their biggest rival Barcelona in the past and defected. Rodri is good for Real Madrid, but I still want him to be at Manchester City as long as Pep Guardiola is in charge. If one day Pep Guardiola leaves Manchester City due to being fired or terminating his contract, then Rodri will move to any team that is still interested in him.

For now, Rodri is still very likely to stay at Manchester City, but it is too easy for a player to change his decision when they don't get what he wants from his current club. Real Madrid's opportunity to get Rodri definitely exists, but it's not as easy as many people think.

I find it hard to believe that Rodri would consider playing for Real Madrid at this time where there is a lot of tension in the club about the Ballon d’Or. Real Madrid is one of the biggest club in the world, with a rich history and global prestige that attracts almost all player but Madrid is not a good fit for Rodri at this time. Kylian Mbappe came from PSG to Madrid and look how they are using him as a scape goat. I think Rodri should remain in Manchester City and build a legacy at the club.

No player wants to continue staying in just a team for a very long time, they’re always looking at the future prospects from where they’re playing now to have a better chance going forward, much more better than staying in just one team. If what had happened to Mbappe is what every player wants to look into, they won’t want to join Real Madrid in the future again. What happened about the Ballon d’Or will become something of the past with time, because the value the player will bring into the club will be much more important than having a fued over pay matter. If Rodri decides to join Real Madrid in the future, I see nothing wrong about it and I’m sure they’ll continue to be much better and better with a player like Rodri within them.

I know that Barcelona was so often talked about and how they have more than a billion in debt, but it never had the serious consequences everyone thought it would have. There is so much politics going on behind the scenes, I think this would be the same for Manchester City.

That is because people did not really know what they're talking about. Te media, especially the english media kept using Barcelona for click bait and the fans, mostly rival fans didn't even bother to find out what was really going on, they just ran with whatever agenda they wanted.
Same thing with the Manchester City case right now. Rival fans have notread the charges to see if they even made sense. Some don't even care if its true, they just want Manchester City to be punished.

Barcelona was in debt, so is every other club. Check all the big clubs in Europe, you'll see that every single one of them is in at least 300 million debt. Most are in a debt worth 500 million.
Barcelona's main problem is not that they were not generating money, but they could spend only a quarter of the money they made a year. I believe you've heard the "1:4" saying. That's what it means.

Most of Barcelona's problems where they couldn't register players were because of the restrictions of La liga. Every season, La liga publishes the salary cap of each club and due to the debt of Barcelona, their salary cap was too low. So even if they made a billion every day, they couldn't have a total salary that's above the number La liga has given to them. That was why they relied on free transfers and had to release a lot their players and reduce the salaries of their players.

I haven't been thinking about it from that angle, but you are correct, it is mostly the rival fans who want to see a club get beaten up that they dislike or don't care about. You would never hear a Barcelona fan say that it is time for the club to get punished.

Never heard of the 1:4 rule, but has this to do with a liquidity shortage because they were forced to serve their debt and that consumed a lot of money or has it to do with something else?

As far as I know Bayern Munich is debt free.

I found this though

Quote
In the 2022/23 season, the combined revenue of all Premier League clubs amounted to nearly seven billion euros, with wage costs totaling over 4.6 billion euros. Overall, the league's wages to revenue ratio amounted to 66 percent.

and it is higher than 1/4th for all seasons listed on that website and I think it is in every league. Can you give some credible link about the 1:4 saying?

But whatever is correct, I have only gathered my information about Manchester City from the media and I still have no clue whether the allegations are appropriate or not. I think anyway that there is so much lack of transparency that the normal guy would never find out whether they have got a case against clubs like PSG and Manchester City or not. But I doubt that we will see one of these major clubs get banned from the first division in their respective countries.

Honestly, the la liga cap thing was made so that no club would have too much debt, because if you just let them then they would go up even more. I haven't really check other teams and their debts, I know only of Barcelona, but the reality is that if they didn't had cap, they would have been even more in debt right now, instead of selling players and letting them go and get free transfer players, they would have made some more grand purchases and would have been in trouble. Premier league doesn't have that "problem", because when things go terrible, they just sell the club, which is why I am not sure how City will do, but I am sure they don't have any rules stopping them aside from financial fair play.

Coaches Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola are having 2 similar fates. 2 great coaches are now 2 people that the media criticizes and rumors of being fired.

I find those who blame Pep Guardiola silly. Man City is still ranked 2nd in the rankings.  do they want Man City to always be on top of the copy? Every team has to go through a period of decline. They will have to start building a new squad with young players, just like how Real Madrid is changing.

Man City have won the Premier League four seasons in a row, are consistently competing in the Champions League, and now it's time for them to weaken to give other teams a chance. They shouldn't dominate the league for too long, it won't be interesting if they keep winning. This could be a good thing for the league.

Ranking second position on the league table, its not too late for the Citizens. They've slim chances of winning the EPL title this season. Manchester City currently flopping in league matches, they will heal but it will take time. It's clearly obvious that their weaknesses is been spotted by oppositions. This is where Pep Guardiola steps in as the team's manager, he will make proper planning to surpassed these hurdles and retrace the club back on track. Pep Guardiola can't face any criticism because he's the one man that transformed Manchester City to be one of the epic elite team today.

But he is only a human being as everyone else and I think everyone can run into deadlocks. Klopp had a weak season with Liverpool despite being one of the best coaches in the world. That is how it works, they are now caught in a downward spiral and keep in mind that this doesn't go without consequences for the players mental state. They aren't used to losing four games and I believe this could have trailing effects on them.

Now the eyes will be on Pep Guardiola after five consecutive defeats and I am sure there will be a lot of talk of his sacking.
They were a shocker when they suffered a heavy defeat against Tottenham and I think it was unexpected because even though Manchester City are not in great form we did not expect them to lose by such a big scoreline.
Every manager will hit a dead end and now it is Pep Guardiola who is under a lot of pressure after a losing streak.

I think the talk about sacking him has been put to rest already with his contract extension. They would have never done that amidst of all the legal issues and the issues in the Premier League if they planned on sacking him. It would have been bad business conduct by them as he would get a lump sum if they sack him. I think they would accept a weak season without titles with him for as long as they qualify for the Champions League next season. Otherwise it would be a horror situation for them if they can't play in the competition.

Maybe they need improvements on a couple of positions. But not even Haaland is playing his best, the whole team is on hold. De Bruyne is going to be 34 next year and they would have to find replacements and additions for a few players. Never change a running system, but this system has stopped running for the moment and might need changes urgently. They have probably decided that Guardiola would be the best to lead that change process before he leaves the club and is off to something else. He can build teams as he has shown in the past. Maybe this is the idea behind the contract extension. Let him set the club up for the future.

If you say Guardiola will get pressure sack after those streak defeats, it seems like you are wrong because currently Manchester City have extended his contract as coach until 2027,  I think, that it will be a big loss if they fired a coach who has able to win a lot of titles for 7 seasons just because of a failure in 1 season.

If the defeat continues and Manchester City still can't get out of the pressure, it is possible that Pep Guardiola will face the problem of being fired and even though Manchester City has currently extended his contract.
We can see how clubs in the Premier League can fire coaches unexpectedly and that's just my assumption based on some experiences that have happened.
The pressure I mean will be fans who try to voice the dismissal that is caused by losing streaks in the next match.

That's just my assumption and indeed we don't expect that to happen because Pep Guardiola has turned Manchester City into an extraordinary club in the midst of such tight competition.

I do not think Pep Guardiola will be fired by Manchester City even if they keep losing. Pep has done great job making Manchester City top team. He has been very important to team success. It is true that some Premier League teams have suddenly changed coaches but I think Manchester City owners and fans know how valuable Pep is. Fact that they recently extended his contract shows they believe in him for long term. So I do not think Pep will be fired even if team has losing streak.

True and even more so when there is no development whatsoever in career and title win, but wouldn't Rondri be able to get career and also title with Manchester City and this would allow him to last longer until he has really gotten everything he wants.
Joining team that looks bigger and more popular is also not necessarily guarantee to boost player career, moreover he still has contract until 2027 and is now still injured, there is no certainty for Rodri to leave Manchester City even though there is desire to join Real Madrid.

I find it hard to believe that Rodri would consider playing for Real Madrid at this time where there is a lot of tension in the club about the Ballon d’Or. Kylian Mbappe came from PSG to Madrid and look how they are using him as a scape goat. I think Rodri should remain in Manchester City and build a legacy at the club.
From my point of view, the two are not suitable to work together because of two factors, first, the tension that occurred after the organizers announced the winner of the Ballon d'Or, even though previously Real Madrid was very sure that Vinicius would be the winner. Second, before moving to Manchester City, Rodri was an important player at Atletico Madrid, his move to Real Madrid will make him be seen as a player who does not respect the team that made his name great. Getting a regular place in the Real Madrid first team squad is not as easy as it seems, some players have struggled to maintain their best performance after moving there, Hazard and Mbappe are examples.

Steve Cooper's time didn't last long at Leicester. I'm not surprised after getting so many losses. They lost the half amount of the games they played. The expectations must be better than this obviously after having a great time with Enzo Maresca before. They won the Championship title in the end while promoting to the Premier League.  Smiley

Ben Dawson is caretaker manager for now. I wonder who they will bring next. As Enzo Maresca is doing great at Chelsea there is no way they are having him back either. I hope they find the right one.

Ruud van Nistelrooy is reportedly a strong candidate to become Leicester City's coach to replace Steve Cooper and if Ruud is really brought to Leicester City then Man United will be his enemy in the competition in the Premier League, he has also given positive results when coaching Man United in several matches, so he is very happy if he is given the opportunity to become a permanent manager, but it's not just Ruud who is linked there are several coaches who are on Leicester's new coach search radar, we'll see who the club will choose.

Well, nothing is that certain as far am aware of the current managerial search of Leicester city, though it's very true that rud van nistelrooy is among the list of managers that are being considered for the job, but at this present moment, I really don't think that Leicester city have that luxury of time to experiment on any unproven manager, considering current league standings and not falling deep into the relegation waters, so in my own opinion, they should go for a more proven manager with premier league experience that will be able to move them up the table, because they really needs to start ranking up the winnings if they really want to avoid going back to the championship that they are just coming back from.

So in my own opinion, I believe that hiring rud van nistelrooy looks like an experiment, though he might do well and prove me wrong, but till then, I still believe that it's a risk that is very big to even considered, especially now that they are dropping deep into the relegation zone.

I don't think that way because I think it's quite natural when there is a reaction to Pep who is currently rumored to be leaving Manchester City or maybe insistence like Pep Out from the current hastag due to Pep's performance which is not very good, especially after successive defeats in all competitions that are currently underway.

So it is quite natural when there is a wave of statements and hastags Pep out for now because this can be some evidence that in the end even if it is Pep when his performance cannot bring Manchester City to a better direction then he must be ready to leave.
But in other conditions for now things like that for Pep must be able to make this a new motivation especially situations like this must be something new for them because as long as I know and follow this football, this is the first time there hashtag Pep out as long as he coaches in his professional career.

We can't really tell because Pep Guardiola has never been going through a crisis! Cheesy That is why we can't tell whether he would be someone to leave.

But this is some interesting information here: Guardiola signs new City contract!

It is from just a few days ago and he wouldn't be doing that if he was already playing around with the idea to leave Manchester City. I couldn't find the new expiration date, but I assume it is now 2027? Was this current contract going until 2025 or 2026 because then it would be until 2028 if he signed for an "additional" two years. From what I read it is 2027, which is a strong signal sent by him in a time of crisis.

The reason why many were actually looking at him leaving was the fact that his current contract was just signed with two years and after winning the treble and his most soughted after trophy which was the champions league. We all thought he will actually call it a quit and there was numerous indications from his comments after the triumph but it was later after city was taken to court that some media started their propaganda about him running away from crisis.

He later cleared the air that he was sticking around the club till the end, this contract extension was just last week and this weekend game was the first game after the extension, the new contract runs till 2027 because this current one expires 2025.
I think it was just hatred that the English media have upon Manchester city and the success they have been recording that has been making them spread nonsense news about Pep Guardiola and Manchester city. When Alex Ferguson was at Manchester United winning all the trophies, year upon year no body said anything about him leaving Manchester United. Arsene Wenger spent lots of years too at Arsenal won several trophies, yet there wasn't much news of him leaving the way the English media and other premier League clubs and their fans wanted Pep Guardiola to leave Manchester city so badly. Well success attracts enemies and that's what is playing out at Manchester city. Pep said even if Manchester city are relegated to the championship that he will be at Manchester city and still bring them back to the premier League. I know Pep Guardiola contract extension has angered most of the premier League clubs and their fans, but there is nothing they can do about it.

Rodri did not influence his victory at the balon d'or. he was nominated the same way the other players were nominated and the voting process where carried out by journalist and none of the journalist voted because rodri had an influence in such decision. knowing that fact, why will Ancelotti find it difficult to work with rodri? it is football, you don't play with emotions or else mbape and vini would not want to play in the same team because of the fear of one out shining the other. real Madrid is a club and the players are purely on contract and serves as instrument through which the club wins trophies and remains in business. if rodri is what the team needs at this time that will help them win trophy, differences like the effect of the outcome of the balon do'r would never stop the management of the team from getting him signed. about getting a playing time at madrid, he will be an absolutely good replacement of tony kross at the midfield which wouldn't be an issue at all. get him standing at the midfield and get alexander trent arnold at the defence and everything becomes settled.

“I don't know. What I know is that Kevin will decide by himself, like David Silva or others did..." was the exact response of Pep Guardiola when he was asked if Kelvin De Bruyne will stay or leave at the end of the current season. The Manchester City midfielder's  involvement for his club this season have been limited by injuries that's sidelined him. Personally I think his time at City is up so it'll be better for him to leave at the end of the season

I think it will be better if Kevin DE Bruyne leaves Manchester City because as it stands now I don't think the team will like to give him another contract to sign, Kevin DE Bruyne is an injured player, a player that can not complete a season without any injury and Manchester City will not want to keep him and the team is also looking at his age, Kevin DE Bruyne has done a lot of things for Manchester City that they will never forget but the team will not give him any contract again if the team will want to give him another contract and if you look at since he comes back from injury he never starts any match and that shows that the team doesn't value him like before.

If Kevin DE Bruyne goes to Saudi Arabia it will be very good and it will be good if he joins AL Nassr because AL Nassr needs a player like Kevin DE Bruyne who can help the team and also create chances to score goals for Christiano Ronaldo, Ronaldo will enjoy Kevin DE Bruyne but it depends on AL Nassr if they want to sign Kevin DE Bruyne, Kevin DE Bruyne also know that Manchester City doesn't value him like before again.

Although the positions of both clubs are the same in the standings, there is actually a slight difference between Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti.
City has experienced many obstacles due to injured players so that is not Pep's fault and is quite acceptable, and it is impossible for 1 team to always be at the top.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid does not look good when players who have been targeted for a long time come to the club, it could be that it is not Ancelotti's fault, it is just strange that they are now below Barcelona.

Firing both coaches could be an option but it would be better to do it at the end of the season because doing it in the middle of the season might only make it difficult to improve the position.
But what are the chances that both of them will be fired? I think it is very small because for City and Real Madrid, their current coaches are still the best with many titles that have been presented to the club.

and it is higher than 1/4th for all seasons listed on that website and I think it is in every league. Can you give some credible link about the 1:4 saying?

I don't know how La liga comes up with the numbers but they look at a couple of things including the debt of that team. This is why it was difficult for Barca to register players.
Quote
This is the 1:4 rule by which clubs are allowed to invest €1 for every €4 they saved. Put crudely, offload a player for €10m and you can invest €2.5m. Or if that player alone accounts for 5% of their budget, they can invest 50% of what is saved.

If you read this article you'll see how a big news media house like ESPN say in 2020 that Barcelona won't be able to sign or register players like Lewandoski, Raphina and Kounde, but these 3 are Barcelona players today. And this is the kind of news that people believe. Barcelona have problems, but the problems are exaggerated by the media.

Manchester City cannot always be rely on De Bruyne so they have to regeneration their squad and i think it's time for them to look for the replacement of De Bruyne and indeed several months ago Guardiola personally want De Bruyne to stayed and extended his contract but i don't think it could be wise moved because De Bruyne currently is too often to gets injured and i have to says Hamstring injured has been makes De Bruyne cannot performing well again so i do agree with you that it's time for Manchester City to let De Bruyne leave and i think De Bruyne too has been realize this situation so that's why he start to thinking to moved from Manchester City and i think Saudi Pro League is good for him because he can earn a lot of money at there before retired

I think Pep Guardiola is absolutely ready to make up for recent poor results which is why he accepted to extend his contract with the club even when he knows the club currently have a legal issue that might leave them playing in the second division of English football. I wasn't expecting Pep Guardiola to extend his contract with City but I think he had to do that because of his love for the club and his conviction to help them reclaim their position as the best English club
A few days back, when Pep was asked what if in case  Manchester City found themselves relegated this season, Pep Guardiola answer was "They will return to the Premier League next season" I don't know why he's been asked that, whether is there any likely possibility of finding Manchester City guilty of the legal issue against them. I suspect that Pep Guardiola's mind is already made up to accept whatever verdict of the charge against Manchester City would be. I also believe that Manchester City players will accept the result too, as they will be ready to start afresh, to return to the Premier League the upper year if they win the trophy of the second division of English football

Actually, he is doing this because he just doesn't want to leave the club at a time when they are down. Yes, the club is going through some troubles right now. But I think Guardiola is just avoiding the guilt that he might feel if he does actually leave the club right now. We all know that the club is not in a good situation right now. But I believe Pep Guardiola is a good enough coach that has the capability to actually make a comeback from this situation.

Honestly, the situation is not as bad as a lot of people are making this to be. Because they are still on the second spot of the table. Yes, there is a big difference in terms of points when it comes to them and the team which is in the first position, Liverpool. I think people are just losing it because they are not seeing Man City dominate as they do generally. Or they are just new Man City fans.
