It was expected and in fact I don't think Benzema had many options due to his age. At Real Madrid too much good talent has been wasted. Among the many wasted stars are the names Nuri Sahin, Martin Odegaard, Takefusha Kubo, James Rodrigues etc. Eden Hazard is the name of the umpteenth star whose talent is wasted by Real Madrid. Hopefully Jude Bellingham's arrival doesn't suffer the same fate as them, and he can replace Modric and Kroos.
