Nearly all countries have considered Bitcoin "legal" since they started considering it at all.

We don't need countries to "accept" Bitcoin as long as people can freely spend it.

In a free market, no country accepts it, all they do is regulate it or decide that it's a currency, and neither of those things means a lot.  Each individual merchant can accept it and that's only loosely related to the country.

They can take their acceptance and shove it up their arse.

Officially as a currency in an official place it isn't, but technically you can use it in whatever way since you can exchange them to actual currency i whatever place you would like to.. I heard about an inhabited island doing that but of course it's not actually used since there is no trading there anyway and is just a publicity stunt.

Japan already recognized bitcoin as payment system. Many are still in discussion, we might see more in future.

how many country of the world now accept btc?  Huh Huh

I do not remember this, but in recent times, Japan and Korea are the two countries that accept bitcoin. People in their own country really love bitcoin, their demand is very high, which is why the value of bitcoin suddenly increased dramatically. In addition, Russia is also preparing to receive bitcoin.

There are also Indians who start receiving bitcoin. But they all still do not say bitcoin as its national currency.
They merely recognize, facilitate the development of bitcoin and also receive bitcoin to circulate in their country.

Japan is almost the one and only that legalized bitcoin. Most other countries are not banning bitcoin (which include China and Russia) and just treating it as an asset-like item.

Any government that bans or prevents people from acquiring Bitcoin is power hungry and simply robbing their people of future prosperity. If this is you, quickly find a way to earn, mine, find BTC even if it takes relocating.

I know of Japan, the Netherlands and Norway but the latest addition I'm told is Australia who will start accepting by July 1 and hopefully many more will follow and help the global expansion of Bitcoin.

I don't think that there are many countries that legally accept bitcoin, but there are some countries that I've heard of. Russia, Australia,  Japan, Norway and Netherlands, I don't know Switzerland, but maybe.

A lot of newbies here that probably are stuck in the communist era where the state and the country and the great leader is one and the same.
There is no country accepting bitcoins.

There are a lot of them who have recognized bitcoin as a form of money.
And even within those countries there are slight differences on how bitcoin payments are viewed and regulated.

But there is no country yet that has enforced bitcoin as an alternative to their currency.
So if your next door store doesn't want to accept bitcoin there is nothing you can do about it.

Once we get over this... then the real fun will begin

Yes I'm told Switzerland has also joined the list and it's surprising I didn't find India and maybe South Korea on your list because we are told their exchanges are charging huge sums for Bitcoin and so they must be paying taxes to the government and have therefore earned his support.

It can't be determined about how the total numbers of countries are accepting bitcoin right now. But there is a conclusion if a lot of countries are accepting it without an official announcement from the government. I said that Those countries were not determined the Bitcoin as an illegal or legal commodity. The bitcoin still on the gray area.
I mean all of the risks on bitcoin was becoming the user's responsibility.

Agree, but we are edging V E R Y slowly closer to more and more adoption
and the question is will any country ever recognise Bitcoin as legal tender
to compete with its own fiat currency.

I think the OP is using the wrong terminology, "Accept" or "Recognise"  Huh

In my country, Mexico, the bitcoin is not officially recognized by the central bank (Banxico), that has recommended to the population not to invest in it because supposedly, since it is not backed by any formal financial institution, there would be no way to protect users from potential frauds. But outside of these recommendations, Banxico has never taken active actions or measures to dissuade the people of its use.

to me i think the only country who have given the statement to legalize bitcoin is Japan, and now Russia is also thinking about bitcoin to legalize it, while the rest of the countries still do not take any step in the favour of bitcoin, but still they do not even given statement about bitcoin as illegal. i am hopeful that very soon they will also accept bitcoin as legal currency.

Well, Japan is almost the only one that gave out an official  statement saying that it accepts btc.

But there is a lot of countries where people are using bitcoins/mining/trading with no problems as the governments did not say anything about it whether it's legal or illegal.

I think many country now accept bitcoin and many country for sure accept and adapt bitcoin. I see the thread the county of austrailia accept bitcoin. And thats good news if all country in the world accpet and use bitcoin and Im pretty sure the price will increase so much higher.  I dont know why other cointry did not use and accept bitcoin because they have slow internet connection? In Russia, the situation with the cryptocurrency remains unresolved. So far there are no legislative acts that would determine the status of the cryptocurrency.
In addition to Japan, bitcoin will be legilized in Australia soon

Except North Korea and just yesterday I was made aware Ecuador don't allow Bitcoins. Otherwise nearly all countries adopt it. Japan has taken a huge step by making it one of the legal payment processors, plus their airlines are to follow suit. Then just right now I have read Russia is to follow suit, however I am bit skeptical about this. You can use Bitcoins in swizz to. Meanwhile the Indian government has asked for a opinion on it, now outcome could be anything and it's to early to say where it could go.

Well when we talk about btc. Ya almost all country can adopt it but others may accept it discreetly. Citizens might be into it but the government really cant impose acceptance if it can be valid as transaction for goods or not. But if we talk about cryptocurrency, some countries are now starting to project its own cryptocurrency. Of course they would create there own cryptocurrency so that there economy can still be intact and they have there own to grow.

Recently? Well from what I have heard i think it's only Japan, and Australia. Russia is planning on legalizing bitcoin but it's apparently planning on tracking every single transaction on the blockchain as well to tie activities on the blockchain to users. I don't think that's good news per se, nor is it bad news. It's just like meh for me.

A lot of countries still allow btc trading to take place without acknowledging formally what their stance on btc is. I don't mind that either. Not banning it is good enough for me, p2p networks survive without any government.

As much as I know officially, Japan accepted it a month or two months ago and Australia  will officially accept bitcoin on 1st of July this year and I think some Swiss company is allowing their customers to pay in bitcoin, so I'll count them in too.
I just hope to see more and more countries accept bitcoin every year.

Need some spare btc for a new PC that can at least run Adobe Dreamweaver.

Some countries did not say anything, would just go ahead and ban bitcoin completely. In the end their efforts are certain to fail, and if they weren't and the state could actually stop Bitcoin's growth then it would be worthless anyway.

As regards Australia, They are "recognising" the potential
of the tech industry surrounding blockchains and so they are
relaxing the double taxation currently involved with it now.

They want to attract more tech jobs to their country and see
the blockchain industry as being very important.

Here is a link to my thread about it > https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1911873.0

So far I know,  a few countries have approved bitcoin as a currency,  Japan, south Korea, Australia, Russia and some African countries are planning to accept bitcoin,  but still no country yet allow bitcoin as a national currency. Only Japan is the upfront country which has taken an initiative to accept bitcoin.

Some countries consider bitcoin legal.
Officially as the currency in the official place is not, but technically you can use it in any way because you can exchange it with real currency,

I am hopeful that they may be thinking about bitcoin to turn it as legal currency very soon.

They can take their acceptance and shove it up their arse.

correct! couldn't agree more, in my country, they've been talking about legalizing bitcoin.  It Doesnt matter though, I can still use my bitcoin and profit from it.

Canada maintains a bitcoin friendly stance.
Australia allows people to trade, mine and buy bitcoins.
Finland has given bitcoin a sales tax exempt status.

There aren't many countries that "accept" Bitcoin but there are a few that have been moving to legalize it recently. Japan is making/has made bitcoin into something that is used within their country, Russia has been toying with the idea, and the US had some kind of comment on using Bitcoin as a means of paying for visas. Those are just the ones off of the top of my head right now.

No country is accepting bitcoin as an official currency as far as I know, You can just exchange it through tons of methods local and international to the local currency of the currency, naturally countries usually don't accept anything but their official currencies, exchanges can do any...
Yes, still theres no country who accept bitcoin as a currency. To used your bitcoin you need first to convert it into fiat. Because government is still against bitcoin and they didn't accept it as payment. If theres any country that you know accept bitcoin you reply here so that we will know it to.

Almost all major countries have no regulations on accepting bitcoins, but apart from a couple of countries, bitcoins are not legalised. Neither banning bitcoins nor putting regulations on it. Usage of bitcoin is strictly prohibited in Bangladesh, Ecuador, Kyrgyzstan, and Bolivia.

India might soon legalise bitcoins.

There's probably no certainty about that yet, because I've never seen any country claim that they actually accept bitcoin. But, I think, many countries have received bitcoin, such as japan, brazil, and many other countries.

Yup, thats right, because of japans influence, and everyone know that its a great country, they also do the same decision as japan did. Since japan accepted bitcoin the last time, some other countries also did the same decision. Sooner or later some other countries will also adopt it and we are sure that bitcoins value will be on top again because many users will added.

Which I know japan has already formalized bitcoin as currency in the country and maybe in the near future Rusia will catch up with it.
For most countries still can not accept bitcoin but most importantly the country will not ban someone who uses bitcoin.

I don't think so. Countries might not be able to control bitcoin or restrict the entire population to use bitcoin but they can put penalty to those who are caught using this especially countries with an intelligence in technology to block and trace some activities.

Though it is great if the cpuntry itself would officially announce its acceptance and regulate it. This will bring much more users and boost the price of bitcoin. Also you will have a legal approach regarding bitcoin if somehow there is unpleasant things that happen. By this, it will increase the trust to the people and embrace bitcoin.

I think all countries accept bitcoin but not for legal payment so you can spend it wherever as long they receive payment via bitcoin. and to my knowledge no country is banning the use of bitcoins (correct me if wrong).

If you go on localbitcoins then you will find traders from almost all countries who are dealing with buying and selling of bitcoins so I think now almost all countries have started to accept bitcoins.

Not yet all, only almost country are accepting bitcoin for now and the other country are upcoming. It doesn't mean that those country who accept bitcoin is approving it to legal, they will only adopting bitcoin. They can't control bitcoins so I think sooner all country will accept bitcoin as a currency.

Accepted bitcoin? I think all countries accept bitcoin but the problem is legal or not in that country. In japan and in russia have legalized bitcoin. But in Russia in 2018
Japan has legally accepted bitcoin.
Canada has use friendly approach towards bitcoin.
China and Russia have started regulating bitcoin instead of banning it.
Some of european countries have given exemption from VAT.
India is discussing on steps to take to regulate bitcoin.

It's like a domino effect: after a one technologically and economically developed country accepts bitcoin other countries who have trading bonds with it, will have no choice but accept it too.

There are many countries that accepts bitcoins and they are Japan, Philippines, Australia and even India are studying about it. Also European countries are about to implement in legal way. There are no  specific country or exact figure but as long there are internet on the said or any countries, bitcoins can be accepted.

I think majority of all the countries have already accepted bitcoin. Its because of its popularity and its help to their people from their own country.Since bitcoin was already introduced to the world,it have influenced many countries too.But there are still some who doesnt accept it like ecuador. It would take more years for bitcoin to be accepted worldwide.

Imagine if they will accept bitcoin it will be a great help in our daily transactions and aside from ecuador, bangladesh and vietnam also not permitted to used bitcoin.

Still there is countries that do not have any kind of law about bitcoin, it`s like they do not know nothing about bitcoin, or they do not know what to do with this new technology. There is countries that live on a edge of poverty and I do not know are people aware of bitcoin there. And I know that Japan legalized bitcoin, but I did not read how far that goes, can you go to some government office and pay tax or what ever directly with bitcoins? Or it`s like foreign currency, you need to exchange it first and then use it in Japan? Legalization always have background, and hidden little laws, I need to research that with more attention before I can make any statements, but for now I do not think that any county accept bitcoins directly!!!

BIG WINNER!

Most countries around have accepted bitcoin, but very few have legalized it's usage within the country. This needs to increase, because on legalizing the people who fear of being one among the member of the decentralized platform too will start using bitcoin. In this manner we need to get more Countries similar to Japan start prioritizing for a sustained growth similar to the value assets such as the gold.

I agree with that some country not legalized Bitcoin like in Bangladesh, Bolivia etc.
Countries around the world have a wide ranging view of the digital currency bitcoin or a “virtual currency.
We need them to realized that Bitcoin have a potential in the future. And Look Japan now their start to promote Bitcoin and soon to accept bitcoin in their airlines.

Yeah, some countries still believe that bitcoin is a currency used in illegal activities and can be used in money laundering. This thought need to be changed. This will change with time because most of the countries have already accepted bitcoin and this represents a good picture to all the other countries.

You're wrong, it's either you never read the news or barely visit any news site. So far, there's only very few country that accepts bitcoin and makes an official regulation for it. The rest just don't give a shit about the existence of bitcoin and will seem to only come if there's urgent of bitcoin that could threaten the country's income which is taxes.
Keep in mind that permitted to use bitcoin doesn't mean Bitcoin officially accepted and recognised there. See the differences.

Well, if you think of a situation where government would treat Bitcoin on par with national fiat currency and command every shop/service owner to accept it no matter what -
then you are right, there are no countries like that yet. But we have countries where BTC is 'legalized'  - Japan, and soon Australia.
As I know you can pay taxes in some regions of Switzerland with BTC too. The fact that BTC is not forbidden in most countries doesn't mean its usage is sanctioned by law.

Bitcoin is legal and I dont know where it is not accepted

In my country bitcoin isn't legal yet for currency or payment method. Bitcoin is only asset like gold and others asset here. But we can exchange it with fiat because we have legal exchange for bitcoin. I hope next time my government will make bitcoin legal as currency like my local currency, so i ( and all bitcoin users in my country) will easy using that to pay everything we want.

There are no many countries who have officialy rehulated bitcoin and included it in their economies but in almost every country there is some bitcoin ATM or place where you can spend bitcoins, use bitcoins debit card or so. The most important thing is that it's not illegal so you can freely use it.

I think bitcoin is really free in your country, although the government has not recognized it, but you can swap it like other property things, this shows its convenience, no real What's more amazing. A freedom to own property and you do not need to bear any liability whatsoever.

Same as your country, our country also has not taken action in regulating and legalizing Bitcoin. With Japan who accepted Bitcoin and Australia who will accept Bitcoin this July will surely bring a lot of publicity and attention which countries all around the world would be curious and spark an interest  with this.

There is no country "accepting " bitcoin as form of payment . Any country listed above posts , you cannot pay your tax as bitcoin , what is happening is some countries  "recognise " as a payment method like Japan , and many country bitcoin business friendly otherwise how on earth you would do any form of bitcoin related business currently  in the world

The question is actually which countries are hostile : Iceland , Dominican Republic , Ecuador  and Bolivia  Undecided
 Other countries are fine.   Grin

By accepting, would you mean those countries accepting BTC for government tasks and the like, then there aren't any. if you mean accept it as a currency "but not using it in anyway" then few countries recognized BTC as a currency, and Australia is one of them just few days ago, there are already more than a dozen or so recognizing BTC.

Previously you should know that Bitcoin is not published, authorized or regulated by any central bank. Instead they are created through a computer-generated process, where it is known as minning or mining. In addition to being an independent antadaddresser, Bitcoin is also a peer-to-peer payment system because it has no physical form and must be redeemed online. So Bitcoin is more suitable for cross-border transactions without the exchange rate. This condition also allows the user to remain anonymous. So many countries are refusing to make bitcoin legal

Why do you insist that no country accept Bitcoin while in Japan there are airports accepting it, in India people have also recognized it. Do not assert when you do not know the truth

how many country of the world now accept btc?  Huh Huh

No countries have made bitcoin illegal which technically makes it legal, just not recognised. A lot of countries are currently discussing this matter and Japan has already solved it by making bitcoin legal and accepted in their country. Russia should also follow suit, especially after their most popular fast food restaurant, Burger King has started accepting bitcoin as a form of payment. More countries should also start recognising bitcoin as a form of payment. Even though countries haven't fully accepted bitcoin, it is easy to exchange bitcoin for fiat currency nowdays.

I think some country already accept bitcoin as a money and I guess they use in their business to gain a high income. In addition to that, as of now japan already accept bitcoin. However, some country not yet accept bitcoin as money because they think that it is nothing. I believe that in the future all country in the world will accept bitcoin and I think using bitcoin will help our economy to grow up.

As far as I know, at present only a few countries accept bitcoin, this number is less than ten countries. However, with just a small number of countries, the value of bitcoin has increased dramatically. In addition, most other countries, bitcoin becomes a free currency and without any management from the government.

Yes, some countries already accept bitcoin as a currency for their transactions and some governments are not legalized it due to their bad perspectives about bitcoin. Its takes a lot of time before all country will accept bitcoin as currency.

Recently, no country has accepted Bitcoin, there are just "recognize" Bitcoin as a currency and allow shops, publish areas, etc to use Bitcoin as a payment method, they are still working on it but for now, we can't tell anything at first.

You have not thoroughly researched the topic so dare to claim that no country has accepted Bitcoin while many countries have accepted it like: Japan, Netherlands, Norway, India, Korea, and Russia is intending to accept Bitcoin. This proves that countries are gradually adopting Bitcoin as their official trading currency...

Maybe you're right, but i heard recently that japan start to accept bitcoin i don't know it's true or not. Anyways in the near future, i think many countries will start to accept bitcoin, which it's amazing for bitcoin itself. After that many people will strat using bitcoin and bitcoin price automatically increase. Maybe in this time bitcoin will be at 5000$ or more.

There are plenty of good news regarding acceptance coming, Australia legalized it as far as I know and there are positive signs from Russia, South Korea and Chine, which would be a significant thing if any (let alone all) of them legalized it.

None of the governments of the world actually go forth and accept Bitcoin, they may allow it to be used within the country or just not be involved in regulation altogether over it but they still don't accept it for any governmental usage. You're not going to be able to pay your taxes in bitcoin, police fines, court fees, and so on and so forth. That's the big difference between a country ACCEPTING bitcoin as a currency and accepting BITCOIN as a payment for governmental usage. The government is never going to accept Bitcoin, the only way I could think of them thinking about is if they note that they could be making more revenue with Bitcoin and it isn't going to cost them more then the revenue being brought in.

Yes, but include also US which uses by some merchants. Sad to know that some did not know that bitcoin is use by some other countries especially those advanced in technology countries in the world.
Actually now bitcoin is being recognized by many countries it is just that it is not yet publicize by the government. Many Governments are taking steps to make it legalize but it will take some time.

No country is accepting bitcoin as an official currency as far as I know, You can just exchange it through tons of methods local and international to the local currency of the currency, naturally countries usually don't accept anything but their official currencies, exchanges can do any...

Why do you insist that no country accept Bitcoin while in Japan there are airports accepting it, in India people have also recognized it. Do not assert when you do not know the truth
Maybe your knowledge about bitcoin is still a little so you can say like that even though japanese really have received many payments using bitcoin.

The only countries that i know that already accepted bitcoin are Japan, India, Australia and South Korea. Those are the countries that i know that already accepted bitcoin or fully legalized it into their country and accept it as a currency. I think that those countries are really having good time with bitcoin because of the new income and also potential economic development if bitcoin will become a successful adoption.

They can take their acceptance and shove it up their arse.
i think all country people accept bitcoin. bitcoin is online currency so all country have net connected. although all countty don't have btc accepted bank after i tell all country accept btc.

Here’s a map (http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-legal-map/) that shows the status of Bitcoin in different countries. There are actually several categories outlining which countries are permissive, contentious and hostile to bitcoin. Hope it will be useful  Wink

Many countries have accepted Bitcoin. They consider Bitcoin as legal and they consider it. There is nothing illegal in bitcoin. So it has gained trust in many countries and many people. Japan and Korea accept Bitcoin in two countries. People of their own country actually love Bitcoin.

how many country of the world now accept btc?  Huh Huh
If you will ask about the legal acceptance clearly then I will say that it is only USA , Japan
One of the state of Russia and now daily new new countries are saying that they will legalize soon and
regulate it for the better use .
But I think if you can access them where you have internet and everyone can access who has better
 network connection  .
But beside these many countries are accepting Bitcoin but directly or indirectly without the known law of Bitcoin
Whether good or bad to use . totally regardless to the users country .

In many countries there is no prohibition on the use of bitcoin. And this means that the use is allowed. And although it is not established at the legislative level - no one will forbid you to use this coin. I heard that Australia, too, was going to legalize bitcoin

Not many, but the real question is, do we need it? What I mean is, bitcoin is already used all over the world, as long as there is not a ban on bitcoin then we can do whatever we want with our bitcoin and buy and sell products and services with it.

Yes still very few countries are into bitcoins and still they have not given any legal status to bitcoins and to see many countries allowing bitcoins will take a very long time as it will also depend on the Government of that particular country that how they view bitcoins.

how many country of the world now accept btc?  Huh Huh

Not many countries have deemed illegal, which makes it legal most of the countries, but some countries have officially recognised bitcoin as a payment method, while some countries have not really paid bitcoin much attention at all. A list of countries that I can think off that have officially recognised bitcoin, include Australia, The United States, South Korea, Sweden, Denmark, The United Kingdom and Japan. Very few countries are involved with bitcoin, which makes bitcoin lack the proper government backing to go mainstream. Russia will soon officially legalised bitcoin soon, and that may help, but we need all of the countries that are involved in the UN to support cryptocurrencies and make sure they receive the proper government funding and development to go big. Some countries are still afraid of bitcoin, since it is decentralised and they think, it may worsen the condition of their market, but we need to stop that.

Many of here are claiming that almost every country has legalised bitcoin as legal currency but I don’t think so. There are still many countries left to accept the bitcoin or even know what bitcoin means. Many Africa countries lacks the infrastructure of Information technology and are not aware of the bitcoin or any crypto related world. Hope there will increased number of countries pretty soon.

I find it very odd that a country like Iceland that basically gave the bankers the middle finger in the last economic crisis, to be so against bitcoin, it would seem to me that they should be one of the countries leading the charge against banks, does someone knows why this is the case?

There may not be many countries currently receiving btc and declaring their legality, but so far bitcoin users have spread across countries and made good transactions via trade and other bitcoin-related activities.

Most countries allow the use of bitcoins informally. A few countries have adopted it legally like Japan. Very few countries like Ecuador banned it outright. The thing is that most countries have no idea what to do about bitcoins and are yet to formally adopt or ban it.

Right now the legalized usageof bitcoin is found quite low in very few number of countries around the world.  Also the adoption took place in large scale by this year compared to the past years. Hope by the upcoming years more countries will start adopting looking the growth of Japan,  Australia and other few countries which are the early adopters of bitcoin.

Legalizing Bitcoin and not banning it are different things. The very fact that most countries are not banning Bitcoin is a great thing imo. Shame that there are still countries like Bolivia, Ecuador, Kyrgyzstan, Bangladesh and maybe some others who ban Bitcoin use on their territory. Hopefully it's a temporal thing, until their stone age governments will be changed.

Recently there are many countries that accept bitcoin to see bitcoin as legitimate and accept payment by bicoin such as India, Australia, China, Japan, UK... The future bitcoin market will be wider. Future bitcoin will expand in Vietnam.

Yes, we need to focus more on those countries that take bitcoin. I can say that bitcoin is allowed in most countries. But unfortunately not all countries have the status of a crypto currency. This causes some difficulties and contradictions with the government and law

Yes, but it shouldn't be like that. Something as good as Bitcoin should be allowed for citizens to use and only a government which doesn't care about its citizens restricts the usage of that what they need. It's just a matter of time, Bitcoin will be legalized everywhere.

Well if you haven't heard, India has legalised bitcoin recently, whether this is good or bad is still yet to be discovered. On one hand more countries accepting bitcoin is always good since it brings more attention, but since power in India is super cheap may pose a question for the miners.

I don't think there is a country, which lacks technology for using Bitcoin. Yes, there are a lot of poor people everywhere who don't have Internet, but on the government level they have all the technologies you can imagine.

There are many countries that have adopted Bitcoin such as Japan, China, Korea, Sweden, Austria, and most recently India and Russia. India has accepted Bitcoin but the account information must be clear and transparent, besides, Bitcoin is always controlled by the government.

You do not need to worry about if few counties ban bitcoins in their country. Those who do so they will not only be left behind in this digital world, but also people of those country will be against the government such policies.

I think 90% of countries in this world using bitcoin and there is no restriction for Bitcoin users. So if some countries are not accepting Bitcoin means it will not effect on bitcoin economy. In future, they also allow their people to use bitcoins. But before that, some more countries want to adopt this Bitcoin.

But I know there are lot of country already accept bitcoin like India they now legalize the bitcoin as a money and many people already used that. Lastly, I hope all country will accept bitcoin as money in the future and I wish it will consider as real money.

The countries are listed in no particular order since each nation has its own idiosyncrasies, differences in population, internet connectivity, etc. However, all of the countries listed have demonstrated their willingness, whether on behalf of the population, the government or both, to embrace Bitcoin’s innovative technology.10 countries america, estonia, austraila,uk,sweeden denmark,netheland,southkorea...etc...

There is still no reliable research that states how many countries are receiving btc, but only news of btc observers in their respective countries. There is a country that has not received the transaction as an acknowledged payment but in that country there is already received the sale with the original money of the country, if this kind of country can not be acknowledged?

We can't know exactly how many countries have accepted Bitcoin since Bitcoin is still a mystery to the world government. I think Bitcoin can convert to cash, it means Bitcoin has been accepted in that country

Well if you haven't heard, India has legalised bitcoin recently, whether this is good or bad is still yet to be discovered. On one hand more countries accepting bitcoin is always good since it brings more attention, but since power in India is super cheap may pose a question for the miners.

I think it will have a good effect on bitcoin or its users. Of course there will be many parties like stores that will receive payment with bitcoin, and certainly there will be many people who will start using bitcoin and of course this will have a good effect on bitcoin

Hopefully it's a temporal thing, until their stone age governments will be changed.
so far i dont think it is already many, remember every country has its own law regarding such things like that, maybe they already know bitcoin but they will recently studying if they will pass it in the bill and legalizes it and let everyone will use it and let every establishment accepts it as one of their accepted currency their. we should respect each country.

I do respect each country and its people, but I don't respect governments which restrict freedoms of their people. People should have the right to use whatever cryptocurrency they want and there should be no excuses for banning something as good as Bitcoin.

I remember in the eraly month of 2017 I think february when the central bank in our country talks about cryptocurrencies and how they are going to regulate it. What you're saying is true, as long as there as no further announcement made by the government there is also no laws regarding on this matter and that's make you in a pinch situation when something bad happens because there are a lot of things missing in the system of Bitcoin. The right way in measuring things like credit risks and formal resolution in transacting  btc are still missing here.
For the meantime, I'm reaching the updates regarding on how my country will adopt to these changes. Right now I am responsible on all of my coins.

It is appropriate for the government to give freedom to its citizens to exercise their rights and there is no binding restriction on the rights of citizens. Likewise with the right to freedom to use digital currency crypto, unless it is indeed a criminal act of course there must be rules that limit it. So far bitcoin has a very good role in helping the economy of its users in any country they live.

Don't have a certain data on how many countries did recently accepted bitcoin. What's the most important to me is on how they are going to manage to make the popularity of bitcoin stable on their places. Even they will accept bitcoin but there's a lack of promotion then their citizens will never know that they are already into crypto.

Data is 0.
There is no country which as a government body is accepting bitcoin payments. 0.

As for countries that have legalized bitcoin the list is on the wiki
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_bitcoin_by_country_or_territory

That was the least you could do to make your post less spammy.

And no, legalizing bitcoin isn't make that country accepting bitcoin.

I appreciate your opinion and extremely in agreement with you. It’s not people who are refusing bitcoins, its governments who are afraid of making bitcoins legal because it will loosen their grip on public and their personal business. It’s really cruel on the part of government to make people deprived of enjoying perks of emerging diamond of the digital world.

Exactly. We shouldn't blame people of Bolivia, Ecuador, Kyrgyzstan and Bangladesh for making Bitcoin illegal. I'm sure most of them suffer from this and that's a shame that their governments don't care.

The legal status of bitcoin varies substantially from country to country and is still undefined or changing in many of them. Whilst the majority of countries do not make the usage of bitcoin itself illegal (with the exceptions of: Bangladesh, Bolivia, Ecuador & Kyrgyzstan)

Officially as a currency in an official place it isn't, but technically you can use it in whatever way since you can exchange them to actual currency i whatever place you would like to.. I heard about an inhabited island doing that but of course it's not actually used since there is no trading there anyway and is just a publicity stunt.
Actually in my country in the Philippines some banks now are accepting bitcoins as an exchange to real money. And I do not know what other countries are accepting it but US also are accepting it and not just banks but also some stores like fast-food chain. They are not accepting bitcoins yet when it becomes to payments and other transactions. But when you look at the other perspectives you can exchange it into a real currency which is they are accepting and that makes bitcoin useable.

In my country no Bank accepts for payment or exchange bitcoin. This can be done only through online exchangers. To be honest for me it's not a problem. I'm not upset if everything will remain as it is. The less the government will have a relationship to the freer bitcoin will be the currency.

Don't know the exact number but there are so many countries that used to be against Bitcoin but are now starting to accept Bitcoin payments. India, Russia, are few to name. These countries were strictly against Bitcoin but the recent stance of their local governments has shown a great shift in policy. Consequently, the demand of Bitcoin has suddenly gone up in those countries.

There are many countries all over the world that accept bitcoin, and while this is a good thing for us, it is certainly a message for many more to start getting involved in its adaptation. I just don't see any reason for why countries should not show even a slight bit of interest in this matter, as I think it is very important for many citizens in the coming few years. Looking at many countries in the Scandinavian area, I have to say I am certainly impressed with what they have done. It is a good move towards the future.

Yes that was important that majority of county are involved using bitcoin. In my country, popularity of bitcoin is still increasing and government has an eye about it.  There is already bank that exchange bitcoin into fiat and hoping that other county who banned it change their mind.

Now this is just some of the countries that accept bitcoin to exchange national currencies. Because indeed there are some intelligent people or people who understand about the technology that will boom in the future, so the bitcoin trust from there, resulting in a community and finally the birth of exchange that can help us more to earn easy money. But if indeed you want to exchange money might be able to use the site most recommend with money exchange to us dollars. i.e. btc-e

as of now it can not be told byt we can see that all country will accept it in future as technology modernized and huge amount of people used it.
I do not really know what are the exact countries who are accepting bitcoin as a payment. But it does not really matter, because i know that in the future bitcoin will be accepted by the government and will make a legal currency. And even for now we can still use bitcoin to buy things but we still need to convert it into a real cash.

Most countries allow the use of bitcoins informally. A few countries have adopted it legally like Japan. Very few countries like Ecuador banned it outright. The thing is that most countries have no idea what to do about bitcoins and are yet to formally adopt or ban it.
This is correct but the good thing is that bitcoin are not like drugs so the chance of a big front forming to ban bitcoins is lower since bitcoin is not damaging to people like drugs are  and as long we have countries that legalize it then everything is going to be fine.

I don't know exactly how many countries recently accept bitcoin but all I know is a lots of countries have started to show an interest towards cryptocurrencies and the underlying potential of them. On top of the list of such countries is Japan, Russia and India I think. Bitcoin has drawn everyone's attention and bitcoin in the recent months have been in the news almost everywhere in the world and that shows and could be an indication that it's going to be recognized worldwide very soon.

No country is accepting bitcoin as an official currency as far as I know, You can just exchange it through tons of methods local and international to the local currency of the currency, naturally countries usually don't accept anything but their official currencies, exchanges can do any...

Some country doesn't want to forget what the fiat are. Fiat contains some history or some knowledge about history so they didn't want to forget it because a person who are in fiat have an value what the country it is.

And there are still countries that are still not receiving bitcoin, and as big as others do not ban bitcoin (including China and Russia). Requires only as a large asset of its kind.

Can still be calculated quickly, there may be dozens of countries that have just received bitcoin so the country should encourage its people to accept bitcoin.

Never heard of this. What I know is some of the Japanese bicoin exchanges temporary suspend trading operations due to possible chain split speculations on August 1st.

Any link/s about this?

If you mean the formal regulation og Bitcoin then just the few countries have done that. In Europe I'm aware of Netherlands and UK. But you van use Bitcoins in any country at merchants or services who accepts it, no matter it it's formaly regulated or not, this shouldn't be an obstacle.

Yes for official recognition by the government may still be small. But for widespread use I think everyone in different countries has tried to use bitcoin. Even in countries that have not adopted bitcoin has been found a company that has an important role as an exchange. So in my opinion, doing bitcoin adoption legal and official in a country is waiting for time.

Don't have a certain data on how many countries did recently accepted bitcoin. What's the most important to me is on how they are going to manage to make the popularity of bitcoin stable on their places. Even they will accept bitcoin but there's a lack of promotion then their citizens will never know that they are already into crypto.
bitcoin has become a world famous currency and the price of the bitcoin is increasing with time as it was being use in some countries at huge level and in some countries at low level but now in a lot of countries bitcoin has achieved the legal prize as in new York bitcoin is accepted as a payment of school payments and in a lot of markets of china and Japan bitcoin is acceptable.

It depends on what you mean by recently. Recently as far as the last couple of months the last couple of weeks probably no country has accepted it that has an accepted at a year ago through changes happened probably about 2 years ago with the jump from 250 to 600 and at some point right after that really the local atmosphere as far as the past 6 months hasn't changed at all except for the fear that people are out there creating based on this August 1st nonsense.

I know that Japan and Korea are two countries that recently accepted bitcoin. In Japan, the exchange market occupies more than 50% of the market share of many Bitcoins in Japan. Volume of Bitcoins increased from 1,845 to 97,815 in 2016, an increase of 53 times. Because people like to use bitcoins to pay and reserve, so Bitcoin in this country is quite high.

I think as long as they don't ban it that's okay, right? You can trade Bitcoin and you won't be jailed for that, am I right?

Only a few governments make Bitcoin illegal on their territories, and fortunately Vietnamese gov. is not one of them.

I think there is a lot of confusion and use of the wrong terminology
particularly the word "Legal". Japan has not legalised Bitcoin they
announced in the last few weeks that they are recognising Bitcoin
as a form of payment which is slightly different.

this topic is really confusing for me, there is no concrete information about how many countries have accepted Bitcoin as a legal money. but some news shows us that Japan, South Korea, USA, Canada already have accepted it as a legal currency. but I want to be assured of knowing that the actual scenario regarding this issue...if anybody has the concrete document then please share with me which makes me more confident about Bitcoin.

Only Japan has legalized the bitcoin officially, but many other countries like Rusia, Denmark, India are thinking to legalize the bitcoin as currency, because this currency has gotten popularity across the world. I think, if bitcoin continuous his popularity with such speed, then most countries of the world will compel and recognize bitcoin as a currency officially.

I know US, Australia, Denmark, Finland, China , Sweden, Korea and etc. are countries that accepted bitcoin. And it is good for them to accept this kind of cryptocurrency. It is quietly good to know that this countries is volitionally accept bitcoin. I hope many countries would embrace he bitcoin as the innovation of technology, yet it is still a big issue to a country if they implement bitcoin because most of people is capable on a paper money rather than a digital curency.

Your research is so flawed you should do it from step one again
It's exactly the other way around.

Just because they ignore bitcoin it doesn't mean they are against or they legalized it.
It's just Europe and Us and Canada that give a damn about it.
The rest of the world is still looking around.

I do not know exactly how many countries accept bitcoin,
But according to my memory there are the following countries:
Japan
Venezuena
Indonesia
Korea
India
United State of American
Malaysia
Columbia
...
And my country, Vietnam, the state bank is drafting to prepare for the legalization of Bitcoin
a lot of countries are accepting bitcoin and this is the reason why the price of the bitcoin is increasing we are still hoping for the best bitcoin price now the big country as Japan , china, and new York is accepting bitcoin and it is making bitcoin more strong so now India is also going to accepting bitcoin and it will be a good step foe bitcoin.

I think acceptance is just a small influence on the price of bitcoin, besides the local central banks and people in the country have to trust and see bitcoin as something of value like gold. Then the supply and demand will begin to form and lead to bitcoin prices will grow

I think there is a lot of confusion and use of the wrong terminology
particularly the word "Legal". Japan has not legalised Bitcoin they
announced in the last few weeks that they are recognising Bitcoin
as a form of payment which is slightly different.
I guess recognizing some currency is almost similar to making it legal. If government is allowing public to deal in bitcoins, that means they are making it legal. Japan is one of the countries having highest number of bitcoin holders, so there government is sooner forced to make it legal if they have not yet. Just like India has recently made bitcoins legal.

I don't think it is ever getting legalized here in Turkey. It is a slap in the face for dictatorship governments.

It's not the countries that accept Bitcoin it individual businesses. The country has nothing to do with it.
You can't make something like this illigal it will never work.
Believe me when I say to you that they will try to make bitcoin illegal, it is not going to work but some governments already took this stance against bitcoin, countries like Venezuela and Ecuador, those countries are a non factor in the world but some other countries may try the same measures.

As of now they have manu country accepted bitcoin and I hope in the next few months many country will follow that so the price will increase and many people will benefits and for sure if that happen you see the price of bitcoin  more than 10,000 dollars each.
Some countries accept Bitcoin and they have legalized it. But some countries have not legalized it yet, but even in those countries people use bitcoin for trade. This seems to be very true that looking at usage of bitcoin by the people, those countries will legalize it too. And then more people will use it. When people will use it as a legalized currency, its value will increase for sure.

I guess there are only a few countries accepting bitcoin, Japan for one. It's not that big of a deal though as long as we can convert bitcoin to the curency we are currently using. Although, it is quite an advantage if we can directly use bitcoin and soend it in anything we want to spend it on.

Well here in my country there's many bitcoin enthusiasts but I didnt know exactly the percentage.
And the government not yet legalized it nor regulate but we can freely use bitcoin here, like cashing out without tax, pay bills and others. And I think thats enough for me,as long the government is hands off to this we are all fine.

If in the part of Bitcoin been used in hand to hand exchange, that might not be much, because the Bitcoin ATM is not rampard or its not in every country. but in the part of people using the internet, lots lots of citizens in all countries are using Bitcoin.

I think many of the countries have accepted bitcoins and recently Japan is one of them. And still many are making discussions and policies for its acceptance. Probably, the list would increase in the near future positively. Wink
