I have personally used ChipMixer bitcoin mixing service a couple of times, and have never had any problems with the site, I really like the idea of giving the user a private key to access the funds. For the users that claims to have their funds stolen, maybe it would be good to do a malware scan on your device as it might have been compromise by some malicious software that could access your personal computer information.

Your coins are only as safe as your computer, unfortunately.

This is the reason why you should not use Chipmixer whilst on public wifi, a public computer, or using an outdated laptop with no trustorthy antivirus on that machine. You're dealing with unencrypted private keys here, which means that anyone can import it anywhere, whenever they want without typing a password of some sort.

Therefore, it is logicla to sweep the keys as soon as you get them because you don't know who has access to these private keys. Chipmixer probably doesn't have any intentions to scam anyone, but after all they at least dealt with it once and if someone within their team got hold of sensitive information or a hack happens, then you're screwed. If you run everything safely though you'll find the mixing experience safe and enjoyable.

Also, use a hardware wallet. Then even if you were hacked, you're clear. Get the funds -> send to hardware wallet. Now you're even more protected. Never use just one form of protection.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

What if the session is automatically destroyed after 48h and something happens, say the funds get stolen/private key doesn't work? Will support be able to help the user then?
When session is destroyed - all data is erased. If you need longer session, you can extend it by clicking "extend" at the bottom of mixer page.

Quote
private key doesn't work
If you received private key to an empty address, please contact support. There is no way for private key stop working after time.

This is the reason why you should not use Chipmixer whilst on public wifi
Public wifi is fine as long as you use .onion address.

How does ChipMixer handle the creation and delivery of private keys? Has this been explained before? I tried introducing ChipMixer to a friend of mine who uses another .onion tumbler, and he couldn't get past the fact that ChipMixer keeps your private keys. I advised him to sweep immediately, which would eliminate any risk, but he couldn't find a valid answer to how they keys are generated. What should I tell him?

Why playing dice? Do you mean "gambling" your coins because of the risk of having your private keys stored by ChipMixer?

The best way to avoid this kind of issue would be sweep your new coins after mixing them. Something that in my opinion, almost everybody does. The smartest user wouldn't use this mixer and keep using the address generated by ChipMixer afterwards. That's why I think that many are exaggerating about this situation.

The risk of having your coins stolen by any other mixer is almost the same as with ChipMixer. How many Bitcoins in all private-keys generated by them do you think would be enought to make it worth an exit scam? Do you think someone mixing 10 or 50 Bitcoins would keep their coins in those addresses after mixing?

They generate the keys and fund them. Really, the only difference between them in terms of security is that most sites don't even give the pkeys -- they just send the funds to you. This one's giving the added option of just using the pkey directly. Safest method, of course, is to sweep immediately, which would be just like any other mixer.

True. It is definitely not perfectly trustless as someone had to have access to the private keys beforehand. But you can mitigate any risk by just sweeping the private keys as soon as you get them instead of holding onto the private keys。

To answer your friend's query - by using every other mixer you'd have to trust the mixer to deliver the coins to you, and chipmixer is no different. If there is any issue though you can always contact chipmixer support which is in my opinion a lot more responsive than a lot of other bitcoin mixer support teams.

Thanks for the post on reddit (trolling you just have to accept on reddit!) re avoiding the upcoming US law on crypto declaration. I imagine that there's a variety of ways to circumvent this - not that it's in any way enforceable at the moment.

Query on timelocked multisig: what happens when it expires? Do you then suddenly own and then are legally required to declare? Will you be able to extend expiry?

Upcoming US law states that at the moment of crossing US border you need to declare cryptocurrencies you own. You don't need to declare at the moment it expires or when you buy them on currency exchange.

I tried introducing ChipMixer to a friend of mine who uses another .onion tumbler, and he couldn't get past the fact that ChipMixer keeps your private keys. What should I tell him?
Ask him if he keeps his funds on exchanges and for how long. Ask him to imagine an exchange that gives you private keys of funds you have deposited on their service. Is it unsafe for you? Is it more dangerous than normal exchange?

ChipMixer gives you private keys so you can send your funds any time you want to increase your privacy. We don't keep your funds hostage like exchanges.

Let's say you want to create a big scam. Easiest and most popular in cryptocurrency world is ponzi scheme. You create a service that offer is too good to be true. You double/triple/quadruple bitcoins deposited for a day. You sell altcoin for lower price than on other exchanges You want to catch the most users at the same time, so every time you introduce delays for withdrawal. Suddenly withdrawals takes forever, support needs your photo id, wallets are currently offline. Everybody can get in, but nobody can get out. This is a perfect way to make a scam.

What about ChipMixer? ChipMixer cannot delay withdrawals. ChipMixer does not have support that have to accept your withdrawal nor ask you your personal data. You receive private key immediately and nobody knows when will you spend it. You are free to go anytime you want. If ChipMixer would keep private keys and would try to steal a chip, you would have known. With an exchange, you never know if it runs fraction reserve or was hacked.

I don't think so. They even have an official url to access the website with Tor.
I really don't see why they would deny any user from using a VPN to mix and anonymise their coins knowing that their service is focused on privacy.

Will just add to some of the replies here, Im a user too of Okay Freedom and avail of their premium subscription of 1 year, I think about year ago, I noticed that they are having problem to access other sites. Not a big deal to me because I only used it to the purpose of my online game activity which sucks on ping when I connected it directly via local Internet Service Provider.

Even just a simple visit to Facebook and Gmail takes time to load but when you visit other site, it's damn fast plus the video stream. What is the solution I did? Change country and do refresh several times. The effective way to me is I will wait for about 5 minutes then revisit again the site and there goes now the smooth browsing.

Well said. By using private keys instead of doing withdrawals directly Chipmixer is guaranteeing that there will not be any liquidity problems and you don't need to rely on their support team to get your money. It's either scam or legit, there is no in between when you have the private key yourself.

I know that the idea of having another person access to your private keys is daunting to a lot of people but in reality it is indeed nothing different than if you stored bitcoin on coinbase. In the end, you're going to have to trust Chipmixer to do their job properly, and currently there is no signs that they are a scam as their team seems extremely dedicated to the project and updates are rolling in very quickly.

Sweep the keys if you're uncomfortable.

Using a VPN should not affect your experience at Chipmixer. Chipmixer is extremely pro-privacy and anonymity and i would assume that they have the same policy with VPNs. After all, they have a TOR mirror as well for anyone wanting to have an additional layer of privacy. I would actually recommend you use VPN AND Tor when using Chipmixer for the best effect because browsing on the clearnet can leave traces to god knows who and mixing your coins become pointless.

However, if the connection is slow then it might be a really painful experience. I can't comment on how fast your VPN is.

On a side note, i'm just wondering if you chat with the telegram bot the Chipmixer team are able to see the messages, right? Also if i message something that is not a command to the telegram bot can i reach Chipmixer support this way.?

Well maybe the problem is with the VPN he is using like this guy who also uses the same VPN as him:

Are you using OkayFreedom FREE version? If yes, it's probably most likely because of that since free versions are always very slow. I currently can access chipmixer.com on multiple proxies. US, germany, and Chinese proxies.

Is Chipmixer strict about IP thing? I can't access the web using this.

Currently Im using VPN (OkayFreedom) as part of my alternative method/s to browse the internet when my connection is down or got being slow (a usual happenings here in our country).
We do not filter by IP. Please use Tor service: ChipMixerwzxtzbw.onion

On a side note, i'm just wondering if you chat with the telegram bot the Chipmixer team are able to see the messages, right? Also if i message something that is not a command to the telegram bot can i reach Chipmixer support this way.?
No, we do not log nor check messages sent to bot. Please use official support channels - email and forum PM.

In case you missed it, ChipMixer.

If you are not satisfied with our service, please contact support in 48h (while your session is not yet deleted) and we can help you. Waiting few days then writing on forum while advertising bitmixer looks bit weird.

I have a question that probably a lot of users just starting to use chipmixer will probably share. What if the session is automatically destroyed after 48h and something happens, say the funds get stolen/private key doesn't work? Will support be able to help the user then?
 -snip-

@ChipMixer: What do you do if someone claims you have stolen Bitcoin from private key you have given. If it is a small amount, it may not have much impact because of the trust you have. But, what happens if it is a large amount? I hope you have already thought about it and have come up with a solution or is working on one! Good luck! By the way, I have sent you a PM! Please reply! Thanks!

This is very much a valid question that I feel should be answered because of the fact that some people might just intentionally want to create
unnecessary scenerio by heating the polity since they interprete that as a weakness and I think a disclaimer should be put to always ensure that you are responsible for whatever happens to your coins afterwards and be advised to transfer to a more secure wallet if need be to avoid all the drama that might likely follow in case such should happen.
