When do you decide to sell?

Is it a sat, a % of profit, or even a randomly thought up number in your head?

I am new to trading Crypto, but when I traded other stocks, I would aim for a certain percentage.
This seems much easier to hit that percentage, but much more risky.

How do you determine when to let it go?

I have factors to consider when to dump my holdings
-% gain was met 10%-20%
-trend of the coin in media such as latest devt-
-hodl if i really trust the coin long term
- chart analysis, basic only

I don't have any plan to sell at a moment as price is not too high for me so I will be holding my coins till it reaches to the price of $5000 and I am sure that it will surely touch that price in next couple of years and once it reaches there I will sell all my bitcoins.

Yeah me too, I still plan to hold till prices reach $10,000 or more. This might not be this year but this could be in the nearest future which will not be longer than 5 years. Good luck to bitcoins and to all those who are holding more bitcoins.

Yes, this is good if someone can wait enough for it otherwise I personally can’t handle such a long term holding because I am not by nature a patient one and I get panic of the things easily.
But I think holding the coin is not the real profit that someone can have but the real profit is to make a way for you to make it earning continuously.

I will sell my bitcoin when the price is right.Because they predict that bitcoin for 2017 will be at 2000$.I have to hold my BTC and wait for the high price so that before entering year 2018 I build my own house.There should be a proof  that BTC makes changes especially in home finance that the stage of my life be level up.

At this point, im not selling unless its completely necessary or like an emergency. If i can use money aside from my btcs i would prefer to spend it as i realize how storing btc would be essential in making more profits once the right time for selling comes, which i don't think is here yet.

That's why its is important to invest only an amount that you can afford to lose. So you don't have to bother to sell it if an emergency has arises. As for me, I just invest just a portion every time I can. And not invest to big because it certain situation, I will not have to sell it. Just saying.

Keeping some money for emergency is better for those people who cannot withdraw immediately while those people who can withdraw immediately like who have their bitcoin debit cards then they will have to invest their money in bitcoin. As with bitcoin debit card they can cash their bitcoin within a minute from any ATM.

Even they can withdraw anytime, having the Bitcoin debit card, it's not a good idea. Because we don't know when emergencies will happen, what means it can happen while the BTC price is cheaper than the moment you bought it. So you will lose money by converting it to fiat on that moment. Emergency money should still continue in fiat, it's safer. Just sell BTC more expensive than you bought.

Yes, it is good to keep the emergency money into the fiat and to be honest the emergency money means that it should be something kept in the local currency so that it works immediately. If in case of emergency you go and look for the ATM booth to withdraw money from it then I am scared it is not something you are talking about emergency because emergency needs immediate response.

For example:  I get the payment of 100$ and received exactly 100$ in bitcoin I will sell it immediately never waits for the price to raise that is my rule because if you are getting paid in bitcoin you don't need to wait and hold your bitcoins because you already got what you have done but sometimes I receives a payment but I am out of town and when I come back I see some up in price it gives me profit lol otherwise I don't hold.

I agree with u. I also do the same thing. I don't take risk by waiting for a big amount of money. I just sell it very fast when i think that it is a very great time to sell it. Actually from my point of view, i think it is a safe way to get profit and get the money. So, i don't wait for the increasing percentage.

in fact some people invest everything they have in business and do not left anything with them. and when they need it they have noting left. then they try to get loan from his friend or from bank. and some time even he sell something precious he has with a cheap price. so it is most important that we must keep some money in cash so that when we need it in emergency we can use without any problem and do not feel the need to take loan from some person or from bank, or to sell anything precious for getting money.

That is why it is recommended that we should go by systematic way of investing like what ever you are earning keep 50% and balance you can invest it, so that in emergency time the 50% will be used to full fil the emergency problem and the investment option will be getting no trouble.

I sell if I have gained 50% profit to those coin that I think is not worth for long term. But if I think the coins has a very big potential then I hold it and wait until I get my target price.

Yes, who knows what the 50% of your profit is? Anyway best of luck with your holding I am glade that I am not much greedy and I have not that huge desire for the earnings from BTC. I have planned to sell my BTC at $3000. I missed the chance once when it was too close to it but let’s see what happens this time.

but bitcoin is trading very positive here and there is no such negative news about bitcoin which can create panic, i think people are more confidence about the price of bitcoin and therefore they are not going to sell but going to hold as much as they can, therefore to me i think it not such a wise decision to sell bitcoin right now, but need to wait  and when the price reach to its peak then you should sell your bitcoin, and hope that at that time you will get a good profit.

but currently the price of bitcoin is expecting so high and therefore i will never take the decision to sell my bitcoin right now. i have to wait for the price when it will reach to 5000$ , and i think it is very possible because no one was even expected the the price will cross 2000$ in next 3 years when the price of bitcoin was trading below 1000$ but now we can see that the price of bitcoin is trading above 2500$ that is really a very good increasing in the price of bitcoin.

Yes nowadays all of the news are going very well about bitcoin all of them are in its favor. It looks like the time of bitcoin has been started and now bitcoin will flourish more and more and everywhere it will be adopted for their businesses and for their transactions.

Well it depends on my style of trading. I do both short term and long term trading. In ling term trading, earning 20%+ profit is ennough for me to sell while in short term, 2% profit is decent for me to eliminate the risk.

That is also what was advised to me when I was just starting to trade by a friend who's been there for a long time. It  actually works though I'm more in to the long term 20% trading rather than the short term because I still become a bit anxious when I do short term trades and I often make mistakes especially if the pump and dump becomes a bit fast paced

I sell my bitcoin when their price was reach the $5000 dollars, all my altcoins for now was hold because I know that in the future value of each coins were raised up.

Thats good idea if bitcoin reach $3500 sell only  1/4 of bitcoin . Me I will sell my other bitcoin when the price reach $5000 and I think it will happen before the end of this year 2017 and my other bitcoin will sell for future purposes also. I have shorterm and for longterm investment. I hope bitcoin price will continue to increase so we can make a lot of money.

I sell as an when required as i am dependent on bitcoin income for my family expenses, only 20% maximum i keep for long term investment balance i convert it to fiat currency as and when i require or when i think that the price is high and do small trading and get profit.

It should be like that, sometimes we always forget to spend all the results of our sweat, and never think to invest. Even though only 10-20% that we save. It is very valuable in long-term investment. Besides we can get profit from market treading!
