When Bitcoin is more expensive against alt coins, I'd suggest to buy alt coins and when Bitcoin is cheaper than alt coins, I'd suggest to sell your alt coins to buy Bitcoin. Obviously, I need BTC to get in but it seems like everything is high right now.  Should I wait till BTC is < 2k? Or ETH < 200? If you are not experienced then you have to start with Altcoin or Litecoin for short term in order to make experience which will make you able to upgrade to the Bitcoin with that experience. There is a very good strategy and if you stick to it, then you will be successful. You need to now buy a bitcoin for no more than 25 percent of your total deposit. Then if the Bitcoin rate continues to decline, you buy another 25 percent. And then if there is a third significant decrease - buy another 25 percent. Keep the remaining 25 percent of your deposit in case of unforeseen circumstances.

I think for new people which want to get into trading can enter the exchange in anytime and maybe they need to prepare some money to buy bitcoin. they can buy bitcoin at any price but it's better to learn about bitcoin first especially about the trend so you can get bitcoin at the low price. after you can get bitcoin, then you need to decide what you want to do with your bitcoin. do you want to hold the bitcoin or do you want to make another pair with altcoin so you can have a chance to make another profit? but my suggestion is you need to learn more if you want to make a pair with altcoin because the bitcoin is too volatile and can give an impact to the altcoin.
