It especially sucks when you are an experienced user that haven't signed up to the forum.
But I guess it's "the price to pay" be overwhelmed by dumb questions.

For someone who mostly lurks, the 5 posts requirement is a tough one.

The 5 posts is pretty easy, there are quite a few decent threads in here.

Regards,

Martin.
Guess I should get the last few posts needed out of the way, then.

Is there a process time or something after you've completed the requirements?

I hate it when forums implement Newbie status and requirements.

Nothing but very user unfriendly and potentially rejects anyone potentially interested in Bitcoin or this community.

Not a fan here, I prefer to lurk, and then when I do want to reply to a thread it has silly rules

Yeah, problem is: Experienced users are forced to spam around before they can join the discussion for which they signed up.
So now I have to make 5 spamposts just to ask one legit question.

Probably until newbies find a better place to build up their post count

I think its a good way to keep the occasional spammer or one-time questioner away from this site. There is always bitcoins.stackoverflow.com for quick questions.
