Maybe we can order more to help Augusto to pass the 1000 items sold to get the discounted price of 0.89 and also get back the extra money payed for all items that he ordered (I assume that include the old one sold at 1.99).

This way we can reduce out cost for both Augusto and buyers ... If I understood correctly friedcat message https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=217104.msg2559360#msg2559360.
I think it works only for 0.99 price and not for 1.99... At lest that is what I think...

asicminer reduced price to 0.99 each. How about another buy?

That was a stab in the back of the first buyers.

I am quite disappointed with Bitfountain decision to reduce the price.

Basically this move is going to reduce the estimated value of the product of all the buyers which participated in my group buy.

I must confess I am really pissed off!

 Angry

I see no problem with it. Difficulty has increased right about twice since they were first announced, so the new buyers are in the same situation now. Also, with current price of 3 BTC/GH (+shipping) they are still not profitable and serve mainly as souvenirs.

P.S. To be honest, I must metion that I hold some AM shares (via passthrough) and get dividends whenever some greedy miner orders a hundred of devices for himself, hoping to gain profit.

I think the Block Erupter is able to generate some profit, otherwise I would not had dispatched 347 units in less than a month. Many buyer have already indicated the product is offering what they expected in terms of profits.

In the moment all the 347 units with ~336MHz each is generating ~3.03195414 BTC per day.

The lower price will put the first buyers in disadvantage because that will induce people to obtain more and more devices, which at the same time that will increase more and more the difficulty. This will result in a wider period of time to the first buyers at least break even to compensate the price paid for each unit.

So let's compare! The first buyers paid 1.99 BTC per each ~336MHz. That means 0.00592261 per MHz. Now the new buyers will only pay 0.00296130 per MHz.

First buyers in the moment would break even their MHz cost in ~16 hours while the new buyers would break even their MHz cost in just ~8 hours!

This is really bad news for the first buyers!

Is the way of the world, things changing.  Are doing new group buy?  Would allow cost averaging downwards.

Yes, that's a significant price drop, but there was a huge increase in difficulty too. I bought only one because I knew the cost to hashrate ratio was very high and wasn't expecting ROI before at least a year, if any. With the 50% decrease in price, I would be willing to risk a bit more and buy a couple of them from Augusto, of course Wink

Same here. I admit having sold mine on ebay because I anticipated this price. Blades sold out and thousands of USBs left.
Price vs hashing power is now in GPU range, so the sticks will sell off quickly. Would like to get a couple only to experiment with miners/pools.

I think your calculations are off by over 2 orders of magnitude! 333Mhash only generates 0.00288 per 8 hours, not 1!

my understanding of this is that IF AC gets over 1000 orders we'll all get a refund for the original purchases - so if i order 4 miners (prevously ordered 2) i should only have to pay around 2 BTC? if so i'll order 5 new ones Cheesy

All right!

I will contact Friedcat to know if my group buy could order the Block Erupter USB for at least 0.99 BTC each.

Once I get more information I will able to decide if I will work with a new group buy to deliver more Block Erupter USBs to interested buyers.

Keep tuned in.

Something about geography you not understanding?  Brother correct - EU has exclusive dealer.  Can't be making group buys direct from Friedcat in EU - must be going through forum member yxt.   USA not in EU last time I looking at map.  Even brother not that stupid even if he living in Amerika.

we will pay back the price difference of all your historic transaction of USB sticks.

To me this reads that there will be a refund to the 1.99BTC ones.  I am sure Friedcat's reply to Augusto will clarify.

Augusto, you could try telling Friedcat we don't want to be in the EU!

OP Updated

If you reach the total volume of 1,000 USB sticks, price is dropped to 0.89 each. We will also pay back the price difference of all your historic transaction (timeline started from the 0.99 pricing) of USB sticks. For example, if you bought more than 1,000 sticks, 500 for 1.99 and 500 for 0.99, the new price will be 0.89, and we will pay you the price difference for the 0.99 USB sticks, that is (0.99-0.89)*500=50BTC.

Sorry for the original ambiguation before that misled some customers that the price difference we pay back is 1.0BTC. What we expected to say is for the price difference based on both new prices.

All right, I did not received any response from Friedcat up to now!

 Sad

He must be busy...

So I will move forward to let the buyers have a safety option to obtain the Block Erupter USB at the new price.

I will prepare a new version of the Trader's Book to be able to handle the new pre-orders. Since the last time I messed up with some pre-orders, this time the new Trader's Book must help me avoid that mistake.

I will open the new Trader's Book by the weekend.
