For me short time investment exposes the volatility of Ethereum,7months ago the price was $300 and now is a bit under $700 which is not too bad. But lets not forget that couple of months ago it was $1,400,this undermines the long term prospects.
An indicator for long time investors is that Ether can overtake Bitcoin blockchain with several real world applications,thus more users more appreciation in value. who is backing this currency?Bitcoin’s focus on payment technology makes it popular with governments, such as Japan’s and China’s, while a new alliance Enterprise Ethereum Alliance consists of more than 86 firms, including JP Morgan and Microsoft.
The endorsement of Ether by such heavy hitters only goes to show the prospects of this technology.

Etherium should get to $1000 by the end of 2018 and $10k in 5yrs time if my calculations are right.

Seriously? I don't think ETH will pass BTC's value because for me bitcoin is the most popular and the highest price than other coin, well let see in 2020 if that will happen.

5 years is rather big period of time...Everything can happen: maybe some ETH killers (like EOS, Tezos or something else) will replace ETH
