Ethereum or NEO or another Smart Platform must replace BTC which is nothing than a high cost database. I think soon or later some crypto will replace it.

For now it is impossible to say that some cryptocurrencies can overthrow bitcoin right now.But we do not know what will happen next maybe ethereum can be in a counterpart.Bitcoin is volatile.Ethereum is stable enough.

The only real other cryptocurrency poised to exchange Bitoin, r rather surpass it in market cap we ought to say, is Ethcoeum. The only reason behind this is on the basis that hundreds of companies depend on ETH to run their company, where as Bitcoin is more so of the individualized expense type of factor for many.re

it will be the forever hope for the other cuurencies that they will replace bitcoin. bitcoin is now very strong crypto currency in the world market. it has the highest value in the market than all other crypto currecies. the rising rate of the bitcoin is also very high. the security is a plus point that bitcoin is. Other crypto currencies can hope only that they will replaced the king ''BITCOIN".

this is Empty talk, because Bitcoin is Bitcoin and there will not be such an alternative. Already many have tried to create something like, and even today we have Bitcoin twins. But nobody could compare even with the price of this crypto currency. But coins are used and valued today, but they are not equal to Bitcoin.

In short run, I don't think bitcoin will be defeated by altcoins. In long run, bitcoin will still dominate coin market, but its strength will be decreased by altcoins I guess.

It could be! For now I think bitcoin can't replaced by another coin yet, but in the future, I believe ETH might be able to replace bitcoin as the #1 coin. Bitcoin is a decentralized coin but I think 'miners' controls this btc now. They can manipulate the prices, blocks, etc. I think this could to lead the fall down of bitcoin.

Op, i doubt if such a thing would ever happen in the nearest future because the way Bitcoin is getting more acceptance world over and the way in which Bitcoin value is growing it will be difficult for any altcoins to replace Bitcoin in the nearest future except some thing extraordinary happen in favour of such altcoin that will affect Bitcoin.

Nothing will happen in near future, many people don't understand that bitcoin is extraordinary and its already happening everywhere around us. Bitcoin era started and the end of this era is not close in my opinion. There are many alts, tokens but non of them can come close to bitcoins because all of them are just copies of bitcoin. Everything good in this world is have many copies, most people can't afford real and original things and they will need to settle with some alt, that is their role, and if anyone thinks that some copy can replace original that person lives in illusion.

Often different project were getting into existence with varied accessibility features. But none were that solid as bitcoin in terms of growth. This gives me a belief that, however advancement take place bitcoin will lead the track and nothing is gonna replace bitcoin.
That's true, although many coins are more advanced, but still the number one bitcoin. so do not despair if there is a coin that appears and high, but still can not beat bitcoin.
There is a reason why people call bitcoin as the mother of cryptocurrencies, because it is where it all started. I think if bitcoin didn't started the trend there will be no alternative coins, that is why its called alternative. People already trust the capabilities of bitcoin, over the years it has proven itself to the people, no one can replace bitcoin for now, but we never know what the future may bring.

Everything can happen, and I think it takes a long time to replace bitcoin, what makes bitcoin hard to replace is the largest marketcap and all coins use satoshi or bitcoin to know the price, so bitcoin is very popular compared to other altcoin.

When you start first, there is always that thing with trust that would keep pushing you forward and that is the first movers advantage. Bitcoin has experienced a lot in quite a huge number of years with some pretty good development, so do you think investors would give up that for a coin that was just born yesterday without much transaction and just promise of something better ?

Checkout what happened to ETH that gave birth to ETC, which I guess a lot investors learnt their lesson. This is one major reason it would be very hard for bitcoin to get pushed out that easily

Now, this is something already expected, especially, with bitcoin's success. However, BTC is dominant in its own industry, so it might be little difficult for other cryptocurrencies to best it.

IMO as long as bitcoin can avoid a catastrophic crash, it will remain the dominant cryptocurrency for having established itself as #1 so early in the game. Despite other coins having better features, bitcoin has the top spot in the consumers mind, like Coca-Cola. Not to say we won't have strong #2s and #3s - there will always be Pepsi, but it will be very difficult for any other coin to knock bitcoin from its throne. The mystery of Satoshi just adds to the allure of bitcoin. Stories are important.

A good example is the QWERTY keyboard. It's known to be slower and inefficient compared to other keyboard layouts (Dvorak and KALQ) but we're still using QWERTY and probably will for as long as keyboards exist. QWERTY got ahead in people's minds and no one cares enough to switch, so manufacturers continue making QWERTY keyboards. The same could be said for the internal combustion engine that was created in 1859 and is just now starting to lose popularity even though the electric motor came out first https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_motor

When your Mom goes to her financial advisor and asks about investing in bitcoin, they're going to sell her bitcoin tried and true, and maybe some ether. Not some high risk alt. Coke and Pepsi.

Again, the crash would have to be so massive as to completely destroy people's trust in the system and scare off the hoard of people who would otherwise happily buy in at almost any level below where we are now, and even then, the resilience shown by the community in the past leads me to believe we could bring it back from anything short of the eventual heat death of the universe.

As of this moment, bitcoins nevertheless on top at its equa. I uppose later on there's a large possibilities that there are some ctyptocurrencies ateast e a hreat to bitcos. It might not surpass bitcoin but the feasible impact tllbtscoin is very related. bitino
What I believe is totally opposite to what you have explained. Bitcoin is the oldest crypto currency and no other digital currency has yet been able to even stand next to bitcoin. Bitcoin is not just so called leader and father of these toddler coins.

It is totally controlling the value of other altcoins even the value of altcoins is measured with reference to bitcoin. No other currency can overpower bitcoin in any aspects.

i do this question because i´ve read in this website issues with bitcoin, slow mining process, high fees, etc. and i´ve read too good reviews of some altcoins, ethereum (smart contracts), ripple (for transfers between banks), dash and nem. these altcoins called 2.0. could bitcoin become just in future virtual gold reserved to companies and rich people?

It all depends on the demand of the people. If the demand of people on bitcoin decreases and most of them choose a different currency, then there is a chance that that currency will over power bitcoin. However, as of now, bitcoin is the most popular and in demand online currency. Therefore, it highly unlikely for it to be over powered by other currencies.

I don’t think so this is possible at all. We all know that other crypto currencies which are altcoins are strongly dependent on bitcoin for their dumps and pumps. These altcoins are all the time following the footprints of bitcoin in order to stay stable in the market. Even the leader of altcoins which is eth is again relaying on bitcoin for its market value. Bitcoin is the future of the crypto currencies and it is never ever going to be dead.

If it is to happen, Litecoin or Ethereum would most likely replace bitcoin. But I don't see it would happen so soon. At present the price of cryptocurrency is dependent on bitcoin. May be five years later.

There is a possibility. However the probability of this ever happening is quite low.

In all of cryptocurrency's history, bitcoin has always been the number one crypto. Litecoin, Ethereum, Ripple have all come close but none have ever overtaken it. I believe that the reason this is the case even though you can see that Ethereum has more functionality, ripple is able to do interbank transactions and already have partners, and litecoin being cheaper in transaction fees and faster in blocks is that bitcoin has a reputation that no one else has.

All these altcoins are built on top of bitcoin's blockchain technology. Bitcoin was the first to implement it, it has a wider community etc. You barely can find one person that is involved in altcoins but not bitcoin. But you'll find lots that only believe in bitcoin, but not altcoins.

Bitcoin is bitcoin no other altcoin can replace bitcoin, yes other altcoin is better in terms of technology and features but bitcoin is the first one that is recognize by us and its to complicated to discuss another in other people's point of view digital assets are far to comprehend by not all people its just the impact of bitcoins popularity that it can bring you wealth when its price increased..

That won't be happening. Everything depends on the community. The better the community, the higher the value of a coin will be with better demands. Bitcoin has its own advantage as being the first crypto currency. We have a very strong community with just a little ups and downs. So no currency can take down bitcoin as long as the community stays strong.
