Like a coin that is trying to get to outer space? Or create it's own village?

If everyone is thinking outside the box, there is a new box.

Guys just understand there is ALOT of market manipulation in trading with alt-coins... keep your eyes and ears open as the cream rises to the top. It seem at least open source projects at least have some level of trust.

I'm new to mining and I' just published a site/page that shows all the current coins and their values by your hashrate. It is at http://www.WhereToMine.com ... I'm interested in getting opinions on it - seeing that I just published it yesterday! I built the page because I couldn't find anything that showed this (well, on a single page).

The SHA hash rate only triggers BTC calculations, the other SHA coins aren't calculating when I hit the button. Cool site though.

thanks!
Yeah, I've only set SHA to be for BTC... scrypt hash rates for the others. I'll have to see which other's use SHA and have it calculate it accordingly.
Thanks again for taking a look!

I've updated the page so that SHA-256 hashrates are applied to all SHA coins and scrypt to all others.

do you consider ripple an alt coin? I do so for XRP (ripples), but I don't for the ripple protocol. And in combination I regard it worth beeing investigated further. To me it has potential as an alt-coin (in co-existence with BTC), alt-mtgox, alt-paypal and maybe more. What do you think?

I wouldn't really trust ripple till the source code is released.

Yes, I agree, it is a big issue. However, the idea behind it seems quite innovative and convincing. In that point it differs from many alt-coins that are mere clones.

All of the coins, BTC included, have to gain mass adoption before they'll truly be viable as a long-term currency. BTC is getting there, the others have a long way to go, but remember, in 2010 we were saying the same thing about BTC.

I have to agree with you mate. We just need to give some time to alt coins and if we want them to survive we have to support them.
