Yep BTC and LTC.   You have to have velocity of the money supply - have to use it for goods and services.    More consumer sites accepting BTC and LTC at this point than newer cryptos.  However without alt coins I believe difficulty for BTC and LTC would skyrocket not leaving mining profits for anyone.   You have to have the alt cryptos to give more people the opportunity to mine.

Almost all of the alt-coins are there are going to be a waste of time.  They're being created to take advantage of people who get super excited about different things and then get pumped and dumped.

Be careful about wasting time with too many alt coins.

Agree, but it is more satisfying to be able to mine whole coins for newcomers, who often don't have much of a setup or GPU. I love the alt coins. They're fun (even if just for now).

You hit the nail on the head.  I'm mining ftc because my setup isn't the best, and it is indeed more fun to mine whole coins.  Since some of the alt-coins can be traded on an exchange for bitcoin I find it a fun way to (indirectly) mine my own btc.

I am making YouTube videos for various Alt-Currencies, what would you like to see said about these currencies (besides what is written). And which currencies would you add to the list?

Litecoin- If Bitcoin is Gold, this is Silver. Easier to mine.

BBQ Coin- Started as a joke

Devcoin- The ethical coin, 90% to developers, you can earn them by writing, developing web content or taking pictures

Bitbar- If Bitcoin is a gold coin, this is a gold coin. Hard to mine, EXTREMELY volatile market.

Namecoin-

PPCoin-

Novacoin-

Freicoin-

Feathercoin-Litecoin clone with 4x the coins

Chinacoin- Presented in China first

Yet Another Cryptocoin-

Royalcoin-

Goldcoin-

Luckycoin- Random giant blocks to reward miners extra sometimes.

If everyone is thinking outside the box, there is a new box.

DevCoin is the one to watch, don't underestimate the nerds. Or it will be like that movie and you'll be forced to watch them play an 80s tune.

Not really a "coin" but Ripple is certainly becoming a popular currency.

DigitalCoin or DGC is a new alt to watch out for, the dev is really active and trying to find thing to increase worth.

WorldCoin is also out there but that bubble has popped. Still profitable though.

The only way for alt-currencies to exist is to hit the major trading platforms like MTgox or Bitstamp.
So that people who go there to invest to btc would know that there is another crypto-currencies not worse then btc.

there are people working on projects like this.

Any thoughts about YAC, PPC, TRC, FTC?

Which one do you think will get some real value in the future and which ones do you think will be dumped completely and worthless?

Alt coins aren't all that bad, if you gamble on the right one it will earn you some money. But if it doesn't then theres nothing lost.

Alt coins can become useful, I think, if people start accepting them for services or goods. That's all that is missing.

exactly, lets hope we see new market places that accept alt-coins. . . some of them are pretty good actually.

PPC seems quite ok, FTC not really, YAC hmmmm, TRC not bad either. . . my guess will be Namecoin - the whole .bit domain thing seems like a cool idea...
