I guess, there are 2-3 altcoins that realy can rise like bitcoin does.
So i think its not worth to invest to much in other coins.

sure a look into is always a good idea.

I really don't understand the need for so many alt-coins. What purpose could they possibly server that bitcoin is not doing atm? I have often wondered about them but just focus on BTC.

I've missed the bitcoin start-up days and i would like to ask you for a advice: it's worth investing in litecoins the days? Been watching the markets for 1 month now and in the past few days in jumped from 3-4 usd to 8-9. It really has the target of 0.25 bitcoin?

I hope so! I invested some money in Litecoins. The most people on different fora are excited about Litecoins. Hopefully it will grow!

I really don't understand the need for so many alt-coins. What purpose could they possibly serve that bitcoin is not doing atm? I have often wondered about them but just focus on BTC.

This is similar to asking, "why do we need Visa, we already have MasterCard?"

One of the best things that can happen for the consumer in any market is good old-fashioned competition. Competition (usually) makes products, services, and yes, even digital currencies better. So now we have all these altcoins competing to gain the attention of the consumer and hopefully begin their journey into the hearts, minds, and wallets of the masses. In my opinion however only a few will succeed, probably a handful.

The winners will be the coins with the greatest names, the best communities, the most innovative developers, and those with well formulated plans. BTC won't be seeing 100X gains anymore, but a few of the altcoins probably will.

Pick the right ones and you should be well rewarded.

Crypto is worldwide. There lies the advantage and that gives leeway to competing currencies

I honestly think that Alt Coins are needed to keep interest in the whole CRYPTO Currency.

Take Bitcoins for example.
With some of the HUGE ASCII Farms that are setup, for the average user who wants to get involved it is just no possible.
Sure you can join a pool and just mine bit by bit... but then it is all robotic, requires no thinking requires no effort, and you just connect and forget...

BUT... with new AltCoins coming out, they keep people interested, people will continue doing new research, continue to try different features, and continue to tweak rigs and settings.

Thus it allows for Newbies as well as Experienced people to keep their interest Active and Alive.

BTC just happens to be the global reference currency.

It would almost be like asking... Why dont ALL countries just use USD...

It will be particularly interesting after a year or so to see what qualities of an altcoin make them successful.
