There is no way AnonCoin is going anywhere. It is not on any big exchange. Not sure how it is number 2. If they implement what zerocoin has to offer, that is a different story.

I'm trying QRK and SRC right now, cheap, but easy to mine on any machine. Made a tad bit of profit in Criptsy so far.

I believe that coins with real world application of algorythms like PPC, XPM, CureCoin and others make the most economic sense though as they are creating value, not just using electricity for maintaining the network.

Can anyone explain why anyone would need to buy Mastercoin? Isn't competiter Colorcoin just a protocol that can be used and no need to be bought?  And even if one did need to buy Mastercoin to use its functions, wouldn't some small amount be enough, like less than one Mastercoin, since it is highly divisible?  So why buy Mastercoin?

Well, Im new to Bitcoin Forum and quite new to cryptocurrencys but I like all these new coins popping up all over the place. I believe it is a good thing... Sometimes you have to try something a little different and maybe it will be just that little bit better than the first design. A little bit like airplanes and flight. You would think it silly if we never tried to improve on the very first airplanes to take to the sky.

I dont think Bitcoin will be the coin of the future... Although we will remember it for being the first to truly break free from centralization banking. Hey but im a noob Smiley what do I know.

And oh yeah... Trust no one and protect your wallets!

Hello all!

This is my first post, so take it easy on me! I've been reading through the forums for quite some time now, and have successfully mined at a few different pools with a few different alt coins. Nothing spectacular obviously, but at 400 kh its nice to just get my feet wet and get the feel of this whole mining thing.

On that note, is anyone here mining Goldcoins? I'm mining through the gld.minepool.net right now, but I think the reporting just went offline. Was wondering if anyone else here could verify that?

My miners are still accepting shares, but since the page isn't reporting any pool stats, I'm concerned that my mining is all for not.

Any suggestions? Should I switch to a different pool for now, or keep letting it mine since my miners are still accepting shares?

The way I see it, its a good idea to stack some of as many alt coins as possible early on when it's easy to mine.  As long as you get in early it takes you no time at all. Then you just sit on them, if they go nowhere (as I'm sure most will) then its no great loss, however if they explode...

I remember back in the day when BTC was around 12USD, I thought Litecoin would prob amount to nothing, but that seems to be coming along nicely now. In cryptocurrency more than anything else, we just can't tell what the future will bring. I plan to cover as many of the bases as possible Smiley

Litecoins are awesome and I can only see positive things from here. Just needs to add more merchants and it's golden.

I am looking forward to reading and learning all the information I possibly can about mining.  Sure is interesting having to learn all these acronyms and how things work and the variety of coin mining out there.  Currently decided to mine GLD so, hopefully I'm doing it right and can get some use outta these old AMD cards I abandoned awhile ago.

Again thanks everyone for the information and the assistance thus far!  Looking forward to being part of the community.

Fellow altcoin lovers,

United Scrypt Coin is in the final stages of development.

The coin can be merge-mined with LTC, or any other scrypt_1024_1_1_256_sp coin. It has the goal of uniting all available scrypt hashing power, to make the most secure scryptcoin ever.

We all know, most of the small coins on cryptsy can be 51%ed by any serious pool. Since the value of a coin is limited by the cost of an 51% attack; the only way to create a viable altcoin is by merged mining it.

Announcement will follow in time on the real altcoin forum.

Peace.

Keep an eye on Primecoin(XPM). Was apparently added to some chinese exchange yesterday and today the price went up by almost 150%. BUT, be aware that at its peak it was still 3 times higher than this.

It's a cool alt because it truly is unique. And it is still CPU only making it quite nice to solomine on your PC, works great to mine at the same time as your GPU mines something else.

I made quite alot of Bitcoins(yes i converted em, but can you blame me with the BTC prices?). A friend made more than 200btc mining this. And with the price rise of btc lately, I think its actually quite nice to mine it again.

Here is some of the most important things to know about it.

Best (IMO) exchange -> https://mcxnow.com/exchange/XPM

Best miner(dont use the original, its not optimized AT ALL) ->  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=255782.0

I agree with you that coins designed to leverage compute cycles toward solving mathematical challenges with real-world applicability is really compelling, and likely to draw more folks into the alt coin space.

May I ask what your interest in QRK is?  I'm a little unclear as to what its differentiating features are... It sounds like it's focused on security, but does it offer any actual real-world advantage over BTC?
