Incredible how LTC has exploded.
Any guess which altcoin could be next? PPC? My guess is NMC. By all charts its going up slowly but it can pop any time

Hi, I am new to this world of cryptocurrencies, been reading up on peercoin which sounds very promising but concerned about the creator also making Primecoin and this also doing quite well.
What are your opinions about this?
By the looks of it the market is about to become very saturated.

Altcoins do definitely have potential, but as they are now, their value is purely speculation.
Bitcoin has at least some (and growing) economy behind it, where people can actually exchange their coins for services and products. Still, I think that even in bitcoin most of the price and allure is also speculation, however the possibility of actually using the currency is pretty huge.
The potential of altcoins which I'm talking about comes from the fact that the bitcoin payment infrastructure is already there - that means that merchants have a lot lower threshold to adapt alt-currencies when there's need to.

Well I'm hedging my bets as to which coin might or might not be best by using multipool. At least my GPU's still have some use there. I doubt I'll ever have enough return from them to afford to get into any high end mining gear, but who knows - maybe one of them will take off!

LTC has taken off. Has anyone tried combining resources to buy one big rig, come to some arrangement on power costs? I have emailed KNCMiner today to go on pre-order of Neptune. I can afford it (if it is around what I expect), but only just. I am looking to set it up as a standalone and pool, but you never know. That's assuming I get one.

My thinking on this, in theory, is similar to how Blu-Ray Discs and HDDVDs competed. Some were certain HDDVD would be the top competitor, but in the end it was Blu-Ray that beat out and became the accepted norm. Same with Myspace and Facebook, Youtube and Veoh in 2005, etc. There are so many examples of this.
I remember hearing about Crypto-Currency, specifically bitcoin, around late 2010 from another user on a forum I frequented. I looked into it for a bit and loved the concept, but never bought in. I forgot about it pretty soon after. Lesson learned.
I am currently investing in BTC, but also in LTC. Who will be the outstanding winner? I'm not sure yet.
Either way- the concepts are extraordinary.

ANC is giving something that BTC or LTC or others crypto dont have:
from anoncoin.net:
""The coin cannot be stopped by central banks, or governments.
This is is achieved by decentralization, combining the use of clearnet, invisible web, and services. If the coin is being used on i2p or tor there is no way to identify who is operating the nodes and clients. This will in turn enable the production of new, better anonymous services.""
this is very interesting dont you think

Heh - at least they've called them 'darknets' which was the original term until some tosspot (a group of them actually, mainly from 'anonymous' and bloody 4chan that got all excited over Tor a few years back (maybe 4 or 5 years ago - as ya get older time contracts) and started calling it dah deepweb; which for reasons beyond me took off in the mainstream. The term makes me ill to this day!

Any coin that provides wallet software for non Open Source operating systems can hardly be considered anonymous.

Do NMC have a promising future or should I exchange them for btc/ltc now? I am asking because cex.io mines nmc and btc (along with a few others). Also, what is the recommended exchange for altcoins (is Cryptsy good?)?

What do you think how high LTC is going?
I watched two eBay auctions end of few days ago with final sales of 20 and then 30 LTC coins go twice over the official exchange displayed rates. I think there is a lot of speculation driving it up, but the people buying are doing so because (maybe): 1. they feel they can't afford to get into BTC. 2. they feel they have missed the boat on BTC. 3. LTC looks cheap compared to BTC and it might go to $1,000 soon - which it might at this current rate. 4. existing players feeling priced out of mining and turning to other coins 5. people in some countries, like the UK, can't access exchanges to buy so they look for other more expensieve ways to purchase

Is there any software (preferrably for mac), that can accept wallets of any kind? It's frustrating that you have to have a wallet software for each and every altcoin separately.
