There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

There is no real need for multiple coins and a multiple coins wallet because alt coins don't offer anything serious over bitcoin anyway
There could be one that does eventually though, but I don't think it's going to be litecoin.

Not sure if this is the right thread for this question or if I just need to make a new thread for it but I've downloaded the Globalcoin wallet and its been "synchronizing with the network" for 7 hrs and its been stuck on "~69392 blocks remaining" for something like 3 hrs. Is this normal?

DOGE coin for the win, it has a lot of support and the hashrate is skyrocketing, just need a good exchange now and it will rocket(keep an eye out for Max Keiser, he followed DOGE on twitter and may take it up high like Quark)

Its interesting to hear discussions about globalisation etc and if it would be better to have 1 currency or many, but I've heard better arguments from the many coin supports than the single coin ones.

Greetings. Apparently I need to make at least one post in order to post to the other sections of this forum. So here I go.
I started mining those dogecoins and I have no idea what I'm doing. I just went through some guide and started mining. Should be interesting to see if I could make a bit of money with these things. Probably not, but I guess I just have to wait and see if those dogecoins go up in value or something.
I have a question regarding the dogecoins. Is it more effective to mine with cpu or gpu? The thing I downloaded had both options and I'm not sure whether I should run one of them, or both.

I think the issue with new altcoins is have they been premined at all, or if it is an even playing field on release

Does it make a big difference which pool you decide to use? I'm new to mining (Dogecoins) and I just picked the top one

What kind of payout features should I be looking for? I signed up for this one, but I don't see any payout information (frequency, etc.) other than 0% fees and proportional payout.

You should put your address in the pool and then it will transfer the coins into the address you posted. This is all that have to be done.

I don't see any future in altcoins, bitcoin is shown to be the universal currency? Why introduce more coins?
