For those newbies trying to get into Litecoin, the faucet at http://ltc4you.com/?r=25225 has recently made changes that could potentially earn you a reasonable amount (for a faucet) fast.

They now have a daily draw where 10 random players earn 1000uLTC, 10 earn 3000uLTC and 10 earn 6000uLTC! The faucet dispenses hourly

This game is great!

Hello! I just interviewed Tristan Winters for Let's Talk Altcoin and he had some interesting perspectives on altcoins beyond Bitcoin. In short...bring it on.

Regarding same matter, I am looking for people to interview for more podcasts. You can find me on Twitter @BitcoinBelle or michele@micheleseven.com

hi guys, im new here. Who can tell me what coins i should buy?

Best place to start is http://coinmarketcap.com/ Just click on the coin name for more information on that specific coin.

The new kid on the block which isn't listed is NXT. The exchange for NXT are having some load issues so their listing was removed but it will come back.

that's the key for fortune dude.

There are a lot of dogecoins on ebay i think.  Are people getting rid of them?  And does ebay value have any reflection in reality?

It's not so much about people getting rid of them, it's about the sheer volume of DogeCoins out right now. The interest in them is quite high, the supply is high as well. Add them together and you have a shitload of Ebay listings.

I think there are too many dogecoins, because mining difficulty is weak. Probably Doge will be still going down till time, when it will be mroe difficult to digg coins.

Hey guys, long time lurker here... finally decided to register.

I figure this would be the appropriate topic to ask this. Just got the Bottlecaps-Qt client, and it crashed while getting the blockchain because my PC ran out of RAM (I was trying to see just how much you can do with pagefile disabled...)
Anyway, when I start it now the icon pops up in my taskbar, but I can't seem to open the client window. It's just sitting there, taking 100% cpu time. How do I get it back?

edit: nvm, it came back after leaving it running in the taskbar for a few hours.

Or alternatively, does something like Multibit for altcoins exist? I don't really fancy downloading and storing complete blockchains for every single interesting altcoin out there, with my slow connection it usually takes several days to sync.

I agree that many of the alt-coins do not and will not provide any lasting added value to digital currencies. So many of them just seem to be projects that have been made for fun. Since most of these currencies seem to derive their value from bitcoin they can provide a legitimate value in someway since you are trading them and their value against the as the standard. Regardless of what currency it is this inherently adds value to the standard coin. This can be viewed in a way that is similar to International currencies all being measured against US dollar. Bitcoin is the US dollar and the other currencies are like the UK pound this Spanish dollar, or the Papua New Guinea Kina. The more alt currencies there are, the more legitimate bit coin becomes. There is also value in a simple meme as has been proved with Dogecoin. the OP is in my opinion correct in saying that you should be cautious when dealing with some of these alternatives but that does not mean that they do not have inherent value.

They only alt coin I'm interested in is Litecoin at the moment.  It's established enough that it can live on it's own.  I don't see a need for many of the coins out there.  There are some that are pretty interesting such as Namecoin but many just don't need to be there.

Is mining litecoin with my rig which has a speed oh 400kh/s be profitable???

I would say no.  Maybe if you had free power but even then you aren't going to get much to make it worth it.  You need a better GPU to really make it work.

So what do you say people, is it worth creating a cryptocoin that istead of mining has a stability algoritem for making coins so that when many peope buy coins value doesnt go up that much, because much coin is made.

I am baffled it doesnt exist yet and i am thinking about writing this algoritm up and of course make a curency out of it.

Stable price cryptocoin with predefined inflation/deflation, what more can someone want!

So you make a trillion billion coins , if the price is a billion times cheaper than the price of other coins , I with a single btc can buy a billion times more.
What you might think about it is a coin that gives more coins as time pass but that would deter people from acquiring in the beginning , because the coin will more likely lose value.

What do you mean by "goin around"?
Because you might be both correct and wrong.

While I wish it to lose some importance , I don't really want it to die as it will have a negative effect.
But also , don't underestimate the power and madness of 4chan.
