Alt coins just saturate the market and devalue the technology as a whole.  That is not to say they are not fun or they won't make money because we have seen that to be true, but we need some sort of innovation to tie crypto payments together.   For example, Ripple is trying to do that but it is still a centralized system which most of us are not a fan of. The real master coin has an interesting concept to mimic real world value and is second most expensive coin for a reason.  Who knows where it is all going, but we need some real innovation to give this scattered hit or miss alt coin phenomena some direction.  Bitcoin, Mastercoin, Litecoin, HuhHuhHuh

The reason why altcoins are a good idea is that some of them bring innovations.

Some altcoin creators are designing something to address perceived flaws or weaknesses in extant cryptocurrencies, and as time goes on we can expect the technology to be refined.

Some altcoin creators are just putting up a me-too to see if they can get as rich as Satoshi.  (hint; they can't.  Satoshi was an innovator)

alt coins look good, great way to get my feet wet while starting mining. I made a good amount of money from buying coins at 17$ each a year ago. I like the black arrow 2th model.

I have been buying and following the main coins and the alt coins for a few months and I just wonder about holding onto these alt coins.   Bitcoin is king  and WILL it really get unseated?

The early adopters are getting the most money and thus it doesn't seem attractive to most of us to buy bitcoin

Cannot help but end up comparing to stock market. So when the price is so high for bitcoin and there is no splitting and such it makes is difficult to envision it hitting $10,000 USD / BTC .

These stocks use to force a split in order to get more people to buy,... then i became clear that too many day traders caused tremendous fluctuations and then when they didn't move much it made them look badly ... so they stopped splitting and then who had the highest price per share looked great,   they following that Warren Buffet stock strategy of never splitting   Berkshire Hathaway I recall was the name   "A"  and "B"   i recall from 1998
So it used to be that i owned say $1000 of Microsoft at $70/share,   thus with the math.... i have  X amount of shares...  then they would vote on a split and i would have double my shares and they are worth $35/share ...

It is difficult to see people in 3rd world country buying a hot dog and coke for  .000000000003 bitcoins   .  Right?

I do like the DogeCoin,  I think it will have multiple surges and has yet to come close to peaking.   The coins can co-exist no doubt in my mind.   Just like Stock Market and all the trading on the DOW and other exchanges.  Coins will find niche markets.  Dogecoin has gotten some big attention.

Well, some of the alt coins may not find their place or something as it seems. They may have no use and could diminish. It's hard to say though which one will do so.

Yeah, DogeCoin was a shock.
I also mined then when they first released, just for a bit of a laugh.

I'm finding Fast coin interesting at the moment, but also mine World coin.
World coin to me seems to have a massive amount of potential, just by looking into the development team behind it,
Its really being pushed outside the digital realm as well as online.

It's difficult to say about exact alt coin whether it will be more successful or not than another one. This depends on a lot of factors and can't be said for sure.

Glad to see more and more people opening their eyes to Altcoins. Try looking unique qualities in coins and then make up your mind.

What do you guys think about all the new currencies? Is it just a hype, or will they all give value?
