NXT is the best in my opinion with big potential
Agreed. NXT.. please don't make me laugh. 97% of all coins were bought in secrecy by ~20 individuals for peanuts. Only a mad man would invest in such scam. It's good on the outside but rotten inside.

But in the end - aren't all alts simply rip-offs of the bitcoin? They all present themselves like they are some sort of revolutionary new coin, with new ideas, functions, capabilities and such, but since the day i 'joined' the crypto community by investing some cash, there are like 50+ new altcoins on the market. Every single on of them claims to be unique.. My 2 cents; all these alts will eventually crash the crypto markets, simply because there are too many of them. This aside, i am happily riding the current waves offcourse I would advise you to consider eMunie. It's not based on the Bitcoin code and is 10x more complex. It will be a new benchmark for any future crypto currency. Anyway, bitcoin and other alts are not so much currencies but rather commodities.

Spent a few days reading several alt-coin fora. Recently discovered Nxt and immediately understood it was quite different from most other coins. Especially the 'green' mining aspect, or I understood from the Wiki http://nxtcrypto.wikia.com/wiki/Nxt_Wiki I should say forging. I wanted to by myself a (very ) little stake into it. So I went through the hassle of buying some BTC, transferring them to dgex and bought Nxt's at the going rate. In the mean time i continued reading a lot of info on their forum https://nextcoin.org/They seem to get a lot of attention of attackers. Why? I really don't know, but it might be that others are afraid of the competition . And i should say, despite the attacks, they seem to survive very well all new coins get massive attacks n have to weather the storm to prove their worth. This is a natural birthing process for all new coins not just nxt.

Hi all! I've been a long time lurker, but I'm wanting to start being more active in the community. I'm looking forward to getting more involved in some of the more unknown crypto currencies and helping them grow I just recently got my miner set up with 3x R9 280x cards and I'm having a lot of fun. I believe to post in the other sub-forums I have to post here first, so I thought I'd just introduce myself real quick. Since this is an alt-coin topic - currently I'm slightly interested in Pandacoin, even though it did have a bit of a rough start. Thanks!

I'm curious, what hash rate are you getting with your 280x cards? I have one of these and have been unable to get it much past 650 khs, but I've heard of people getting them to 800 (which is how fast my 290 goes). I think it may only be possible through overvolting, which makes me nervous. Do you have any particularly powerful cooling for your cards? Are they in a computer case or "open"? BTW, the alt coin I'm most excited about is Earthcoin. Cheers

Hi! There's a thread over at Litecointalk about configure radeon R9 280x cards.. I'm still a newb so can't post any links but head over there and do a search for "Radeon R9 280X performance and setup". Hope it helps.

The NXT coin sounds pretty interesting;
Nxt uses brand new software, it’s not a fork of Bitcoin source code. Nxt improves different features of Bitcoin, removes some disadvantages (e.g. bloated blockchain) and resolves a big environmental issue. I won’t write too many words, let’s jump straight to TL;DR version.
Coins are earned solely by charging transaction fees. All coins will appear in Nxt via “transferring” them from the Bitcoin blockchain. Not all bitcoins will be transferred hence the total number of coins is unknown yet. Time between blocks is one minute. This increases the rate of orphaned blocks but makes it more convenient for the users. Nxt doesn’t use so-called “scripts” aka predicates. This simplifies and accelerates transaction processing. Advanced features like multisig will be created on top of the core as 3rd party services. Mining is 100% proof-of-stake, Greenpeace will be happy.

Hm, so apparently the reason why I can't post anywhere else is that I have to post here first? Thats a bit annoying, but understandable.
I've been mining fedoracoin and have quite a bit stashed away, been selling some and trading some, hoping that the value goes up. Waiting till my third gpu arrives to return to mining LTC.
Does anyone know which driver/sdk is best for HD5xxx and HD6xxxx series? Currently, my 5850 is putting out 336 KH/s and my 6670 is only doing 80KH/s, though I swear for a while my 6670 was doing 100-114 KH/s. Not sure if it was my drivers or not. Currently the 6670 is sitting on an old server with Server 2008 installed and everytime I try to install 13.1 / 2.5 SDK is BSODs. Thinking about trying 2.8 SDK next.
