I agree that the majority of these altcoins will be pretty useless for trading and profiting from - much like the majority of the world's fiat currencies are for the same purposes. And that's ok: right now, they're fun. A cheap, easy way to get into the markets and play. For me, it's fun just watching LOT, DOGE, and the other uber-cheap coins bounce around. I'm OK with the fact that I'll never get rich, but I'm also VERY OK with the fact that I'll never go broke from hardware or electrical costs!

Also, the NoodlyAppendageCoin is pretty much my favorite thing on the internet right now and doesn't even have an exchange yet. Smiley

Glad to be part of the community.

Dogecoin has stayed as a profitable coin for mining since its creation with some ups and downs, see coinwarz dot com/cryptocurrency. The new coins are welcome since they introduce new users to the cryptocurrencies world. However, I'm doubtful of thing like cagecoin, Offerings to Ktuluhu or the Nyancat coin since they can have troubles with copyright  that can prevent the exchanges from accepting them.

I think that alt coins are important for people who have slowest machines. Because of them they can participate in this and have some kind of chance whenever new coin enters the scene.

Don`t you think it`s better to buy coins than to mine coins?

I bought some Quarkcoin, Feathercoin, and Peercoin a few weeks back. Since then, I've lost money in both FTC and QRK and am dropping them for LTC and some BTC. I plan to hold PPC, as I have good expectations for it.

Buying and mining are not mutually exclusive. You can do both if you choose to. If the mining isn't profitable, then just buy.

There are way to many alt coins. There's hundreds of them... I keep jumping between them to see which is most profitable.

don't mine with a laptop...

Mine with 3 AMD GPU's .... setup a decent rig for it.   Mine for Ron Paul.... scratch that.... Doge or something easy

Lots of information on setting up mining rigs.  I wouldn't worry about the electricity, as you are essentially more concerned with the coin value and even converting ur mined coined into a "better" more stable coin ...

Price is the lowest I've seen it for a while, might be worth a punt.

0.00009 at the moment, but they were around the 0.00014 mark for quite a while.

I see 3 to 5 alt coins not completely crashing and burning in the future.  People just create them to get rich with the craze, not to actually do something.
