I never realized how much easier it is to mine new alt coints until I tried yesterday to mine Coinye coins.

My computer doesn't have good Graphics Card for mining and I knew it is just waste of time to try to mine bitcoin so I tried litecoin instead. It takes me 3 days to earn 0.01. Then yesterday I started to mine Coinye coins, I managed to get more than 2500.

Only problem now is that I don't know what to do with them  Smiley

I'm with you McGoo! This is ridiculous. There are a million (seemingly) of these forums and we're stuck on this one. As far as I can tell it's half filled with people selling their coin or mining pool and half with either idiotic comments or just comments that will record that they made a comment (in other words, purposefully idiotic -- to get off this page!).

Could anyone tell me if it's normal that the hash-rate on the website is lower then the hash rate on CGminer itself?

Im talking about multipool.

Any help is appreciated. Smiley

For people saying alt-coins are pointless, I have to disagree (although surely there are some coins created with the intention of pump and dump). I think the value in alt-coins is attracting new people to cryptocurrency which helps increase acceptance and awareness of all cryptocurrency, thereby legitimizing it; however, it would be nice to see more alt-coins that look to improve upon the formula rather than simply copy Litecoin and Bitcoin.

Most altcoins are trash, since they don't introduce anything new or are just made for quick pump and dump profit. However, few which expands the usability and functionality are fine. Personally I prefer scrypt altcoins even though asics are on their way.

does mining altcoins differ from mining bitcoins in terms of power usage? that's the main reason i've steered clear of mining, don't want to end up with a crazy power bill  Huh

With a large emergence of altcoins coming onto the scene, what effect could this have on the overall crypto currency market? I could imagine it to be an overall positive experience with the crapcoins being weeded out by the true game changers. At this time it just feels like the 90's all over with a bunch of shit popping up on the crypto scene, and greedy whores buying into it because money is involved. Why should a joke coin like dogecoin / coinye take off when all it's meant for is a laugh?

Bitcoins have now primarily moved to -> ASIC's = Power sippers
Altcoins (mostly scrypt based) are still on -> CPU's / GPU's = Power hungry
