what is the real supply for this coin?

90,739,446 ODN as it says on coinmarketcap looks right to me. There were 98 million originally, 8 million burned, 10% coin emission from staking rewards.

Why does ANN post say circulating supply is 24M, max and initial supply are 98M, and then if you click on the link to get current amount it says 90M? And coinmarketcap says 24M...

They burned 8 million coins, check reddit or read back a few pages and you'll see it.  They also have the burner code on the github if I recall correctly.

There was 8.8m coins which did not get sold during the ico.

So they built the ODNburner to burn them.

Blog post about it https://obsidianplatform.com/post/obsidian-has-burned-8-point-8-million-odn

Is the coin able to be used in some way?

For the Obsidian Secure Messenger it's used for mobile payments between users. It's also a small fee around 0,0001$ for a message, but they will look into a free version for users who don't want to pay.

The ODN coin got endless possibilities for later apps that can be built on top of the platform when that time comes.

The message fee was stated to be 0.00002ODN per message which is 18x cheaper than $0.0001 at current market value.

But there was mention of a way to allow free messaging but it has not been made public.

I can also imagine the stated fee was an estimate and that the real fee will be proportionate to data size.

The more new partnership for Obsidian the more new people and investors will invite in this project. Its really good to us all, more promotion and Obsidian will become more popular.

You will need to have your computer running and the wallet open to recieve rewards. Each reward is 20 ODN.

You will not get rewards if the wallet is offline.
