01/26 Webinar — Debt Smart Contract Demonstration

For the past few weeks our team has been working nonstop on one of the most exciting features of the Chronos Platform: Debt Smart Contracts. Surface to say here that this solution may as well be conceived as the future of loan in the blockchain.

For this first version, the Debt Smart Contracts will be means to put into a blockchain the specific terms with a proper set of tools to accrue interest and, of course, the time for that loan.

With a version already working on the Ethereum Testnet (Ropsten), in today’s webinar we’ll be showing all attendants how a debt smart contract can be made directly into the blockchain.

R: The main idea for that is collaterizing the lending contract with tokens.

R: Presently, the DAY token is used as fees to create the Debt contract.Other features are planned also.

R: Presently, it is pegged at 100 Ropstent Testnet DAY tokens

After watching the latest webinar ( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTAH_8hSgbzd8Mq84zMsZJQ ), some faith, but not all yet, in this project and team has been restored.
The debt smart contracts portion of the Chronos dApp looks promising from a business use case perspective. This could be the default dApp for big and small crypto investors/speculators (for ethereum and the erc20 tokens at least), but it needs to be marketed somehow around the time it's ready to go live because people will not use it if they don't know it exists.
The DAY mint and token holders can at least look forward to a brighter future now, because it was damn depressing in Q3 and 4 of 2017. It's beginning to show in the valuation slowly too, fortunately.

I have some questions that maybe some smart people here have answers for:

a) does anyone know if other blockchain projects are doing something similar regarding debt contracts? There must exist some type of competition somewhere besides what Salt lending looks to achieve (with crypto as collateral for fiat loans) in the long term, right? Or does chronologic have first mover advantage?
b) the lender that receives the generated debt tokens, isn't there a kind of naming convention or uniquely generated id attached to those tokens needed? otherwise in a few years there are floating around the ethereum network a lot of duplicate named tokens (i understand the underlying contract address is unique of course). Am i right in this assumption?
c) is there any future use case of the yesterday token mentioned by anyone from chronologic? or is it really deprecated forever?

R: That is indeed one of the future iterations we're considering.

This must have immediate priority, should be integrated within the Chronos dApp. Since the borrower and lender don't need or care to know each other, it's in essence just another marketplace Would like to see anonimity guaranteed though, kyc/aml is not necessary here.

This is a nice cliffhanger. I hope the project team keeps delivering from now on. Token holders/minters are not nearly proud enough yet, but the outlook for 2018 is good at least  .

Indeed I am really glad that there are progress in developing dApps on Chronos platform but disappointed that until now , no running use case has been released so far contrary to their OP that stated devs would release several dApps before the year ends. 2017 had passed still not a single dApp or even the Chronos platform had beed released.

Guys - quick update:
We will be finalizing to deploy v1 on mainnet for both the debt smart contract & chronos DAY token creation. Next versions will be worked on and heavily working on Ethereum Alarm Clock which I think will be the really revolutionary work that we put out there that will actually help the entire Ethereum blockchain. Will do another webinar soon either end of this week or beginning of next week.

Ethereum Alarm Clock Updates

We published the first stable release of eac.js. The focus on this release was to make sure that everything worked properly. Some of the features that were added during development, such as the light wallet, got removed in the interest of making it simpler to operate. The overall goal of this release is consistency and stability and we hope to present the tool soon to start getting adoption soon.

actual price doesnt reflect nothing as the trading volume is close to 0, I will think about trading my coins only after a year of staking  not before. Q4 2018 we should see some exchanges and volume

P: I've been studying EAC code over the past weeks and I was wondering if at least for chronologic related contracts we could reward executors with a specific token (like DAY), instead of ether. So executor sends ether as gas to execute the transaction, but gets DAY as reward.

R: That is a great Idea, and is one of the possibilities we have discussed


P: This is very good, but I am sure many can not understand. You should have a separate webinar for technical implementation details

R: There will be more webinars in the future to further discuss it.


P: i think a good idea is to have a deposit in case someone makes a typo and a given txn is rejected once the deposit to be used.

R: That's not a factor as you are making schedule transactions anyhow in ETH.  Denominated in ETH.  If you were sending a crowdsale you'd send / schedule 1 ETH or 0.5 or any amount of ETH but you wouldn't think of it tied to any fiat.

R: Presently, on a first claim basis
