The general trend is that once BTC goes up so do the other alts. I'm not entirely sure what specifically causes this phenomena but it seems to be a trend. It could be due to price changes in BTC positively affecting the price of the alts through the pre-existing buy orders... Whatever it is, it usually works that way.

This date can only add to the fuel for the surge of Bitcoin. I am sure that BCH is not a factor anymore in the new highs experienced by Bitcoin right now. BCH has become nothing and its value right now is deteriorating because holders are dumping their share of BCH whenever there is a chance to do so.

While BCH is going down, Bitcoin is soaring into the sky. It has not yet been gone to the moon but can be once it can break the $5,000 wall which can be possible within this year. However, that is a very optimistic view on Bitcoin. I am personally predicting that it can be at $4,000 before 2017 ends.

I am bit mixed on this, the reason I feel is that after the comic fall of Bitcoin cash, Bitcoin took the August 8 factor and that's why it's rose to 3300+ and now I feel it shall stabilize around 3200. Here according to my thinking , anything may happen because factors to happen 4 possibilities are directly showing here .
At the 8th August , segwit will locked and that will result into bcc and bch coin separate , so here no any confusions will remain the fear of intermixing of btc and bcc( few users are thinking but truth is totally pure and nothing can intermix ) So people may buy the bcc coin fastly because bcc is that coin which will be independent at that date and will results into own network .
But still here another chance is that people may sell thier bcc because bcc have not much connection with btc network , I means to say that the information that will spread at 8th and people will react from which way.

this rise is mostly about 8th of August and the activation of SegWit. and it will continue to be like that. price will stay up above $3000 unless another FUD camp starts up and tries hard to break the $3000 resistance and push it down for more cheap coins before the next rise but i think it is too soon for something like that though.

Since Segwit is going to get locked in on that day i would expect something similar to what is happening right now. If everything goes according to the plan a lot of people's doubts are going to be lifted and since bitcoin is actually going to be improved then there are going to be a lot of pumping.

How high it will go, i'm not sure. Probably at least $3500 though.

From now i think it is pretty much guaranteed that this event is going to run smoothly just like the 1st August event. There is nothing that is indicating that Segwit won't get locked in or anything like that. So yeah, i'd say prepare for another round of pumps very very soon, probably in 5 days or so but could be sooner.

Becouse people are speculating that is all : ) it is easier to pum small cap coin than BTC.
Some new money like 10% of them are nicely pumping existing alts but when price  drops if you hold alts you are getting rekt harder.

no there is no reason left for a decline. all the reasons for negativity are now well over. there is only rise ahead of bitcoin and price will continue to go up only.
remember though a price drop after a big rise is not a decline exactly. for example when price goes up to $3250 and comes down to $3190 it is called a correction and it is already over.

I have a friend who said that since it is ghost month there is a possibility a price pump will happen. Don't really know if it is going to happen but some chinese investors do believe in superstitious belief and we'll never know some of these investors are also holding on to some of these coins and might be the whales too. What about the November hard fork? It seems to have major support from miners and businesses, so I think a major split is possible if they go through with it.

It makes me nervous that everyone expects the price to pump on this "news."  Usually that means the opposite will happen. BIP91 has been stable for quite some time, and the price started pumping ever since miners started signalling it. Perhaps Segwit is already priced in, given that we are already pushing to new all-time highs in the last couple days.

There is no exact date for the pump in the price of bitcoin because it will pump if there will be a huge demand in the market and it doesn't have exact date to pump. The only thing that we know about bitcoin is, it will pump in the future and we should be ready for that event by having a lot of bitcoins that are saved up.

Yes its good the technical aspect of bitcoin  that would aid mass adoption is being developed and getting it locked it is something to be happy about but at the same time we should not just be over joyous with that because there are still other factors that come into play for merchants to accept the coin among which include to be on the right side of law which is key at this time considering the various court cases and agencies involvement in recent times.

Exactly. The price will probably rise,  however probably not much because it seems like that everyone is already positive that segwit is going to be successfully locked in anyways, and therefore resulting in the result few crazy pumps that we have seen.

But even though it is probably going to be locked in on the day it's not 100% certain. There may be a few shorters out there that are betting on bitcoin prices dropping due to somehow Segwit not being implemented/not having a lot of support. Shorters might just be betting on this being the ATH and it's all downhill from here.

So in that scenario, on 8th August aka tomorrow or day after depending on where you live things will probably get more clear regarding Segwit, imo price is going to rise. Now these shorters i mentioned will probably be forced to liquidate their positions due to the fact that they are tarding on leverage + price rising so much, resulting in a short squeeze, pushing the price up even further.

If by pump they mean hyped-up pump made by a group of conspirators I disagree with them. The price is rising naturally, in my opinion. More and more people are into Bitcoin nowadays and that's why the demand is rising.

Looks like we are just a few blocks to be officially and technically lock-in for Segwit. I think the price is now sustainable in the range of $3000-$3500 now. I'm not expecting a big pump big rather sustainable growth for the next coming months or so. So expect a steady phase starting today. So for those members just continue to hold as the price will grow again.

I usually follow this site https://www.xbt.eu/ so see realtime how many blocks are remaining before the official lock-in. Speculation around this event is that the price could likely go upward. But we can't really tell what the ceiling for it. I think if you are thinking of getting it, now is the best time before everything blows to $4000-$5000 next or even $10000 as you have predicted.

I'm not sure where we'll go from here. In time, I'm confident that we will see $10,000 and even $100,000. But I'm also prepared for the market to troll us. Especially given the November hard fork. I think that Bitcoin Cash was just a little sideshow experiment. The 2x hard fork is where I think miners may really flex their muscles, and it'll be interesting to see where users stand.

I'm hoping we see significant pushback against the hard fork, personally. If miners and businesses really push forward with it, there will definitely be a network split. And it'll be a lot bigger than with Bitcoin Cash.
