the true statement is "bitcoin can reach 10K" not "will reach" in my opinion.

in my experience price is all about the supply and demand. of course there is manipulation and bubbles, pumps, and a lot more but all of these are too small compared to supply and demand.
the supply is obvious, and is the total number of coins and it is a very small number in comparison.
the demand is the new people who start buying bitcoin and the old people buying more to add to their stash. and as bitcoin is adopted more and as it becomes legal in new countries and as new merchants adopt it,.... price goes higher and higher.

so far all this has happened but it has been a very small percentage of the total potential that bitcoin really has. which is why i said it can reach 10K because it has that potential for growth.

I believe Bitcoin's upside potential is much bigger than the risk to fail. However this risk still is big compared to other investment possibilities. $10.000 is possible. It could happen pretty soon if we should get into another crazy bubble run like in 2013! If that is not happening I believe halving 2020 is the time where this price level can be reality at the latest.

I understand that people get excited by current increase, but it's always a better option to remain conservative while we still haven't dealt with the scaling drama yet. This year November we will experience a very crucial moment due to the planned hard fork - even more crucial than has been the case with the 1st of August that a lot people here were worrying about. If we manage go walk through this event without any issues (i.e no chain split), I am quite confident that we'll be hitting the $5000 level this year. $10,000 is just too much to happen within the current year. Next year, or ultimately the year after that will be perfectly okay for me. No need to rush things - stable growth is always better than peaks that mostly don't last very long.

We're already 1/3 of the way there, and there's no end in sight for fiat.  Maybe
for Venezuela,  but not any of the others.  Never would have thought we'd be in the

At the current rate, it seems $10k is inevitable. The question is when exactly? My guess for hitting the $10k milestone for the first time would be sometime in 2021. This guess is based on the fact that the next halving will be in 2020 and that the 2020 Summer Olympics will be held in Japan where bitcoin is recognized as legal currency. I think the hype surrounding the next halving will have more weight and affect on price than the Summer Olympics to be honest. But barring any hugely negative events for bitcoin, I can see 5-digit prices for bitcoin within 5 years.

Important is to look at the massive potential growth that Bitcoin might/will be experiencing throughout the years. People change their view on the market as soon as the price starts to peak or dump. In this case people tend to exaggerate everything by throwing around with bullish predictions.

If the price goes down to $2000 for example, people will start talking about a bear market, and that they expect the price to go down even further.

Nothing wrong with being bullish, but people should remain bullish even in days where the price is going down. If they change from bullish to bearish due to the volatility, these people shouldn't be taken seriously.

Sure I'm an optimist, why would I be a pessimist?
But I'm not overly optimistic, otherwise I'd be thinking it can hit $6k this year (which it might) and then double every year after that which would have us at $96k in 2021 - which I think is within the realm of possibility but I don't think there is any way it will be that high that soon, I think $30-40k by end of 2021 is much more realistic. But I would not at all be surprised if my own personal goals for bitcoin ($10k in 2018, $50k in 2022) end up looking pessimistic in hindsight during those years.

Your pessimism seems to be geared around not seeing any reason for it to triple from the current price earlier than 3 years from now. It just more than tripled in 7 months. It just went up almost $500 the past 3 days. 7 months ago I bet you would have said it'll take 3 years to hit 3k as well! The reason is the same reason why it could more than triple in the past 7 months, because bitcoin userbase is very small but is growing exponentially. Furthermore rich investors are just barely starting to get into bitcoin. $10k ain't gonna come in the next few months, but it ain't gonna take THAT long. There is no price point associated with a bubble. A bubble is merely when the price gets too high and has to dump before going up again. Bitcoin though right now has a very small userbase and so it is growing exponentially and is still in its early phases of growth. Bitcoin has gone through many temporary bubbles (like just recently when it dropped from $3000 to under $2000) but these are always temporary because the price is so low compared to what it will be in the next few years. When we first get to $10k it will be a high price, and if bitcoin happens to have over-extended itself as it reaches $10k it will fall down some, and a few months later $10k will seem so low as the price goes well past it, the way $2000 seems so low now even though it seemed amazing 3 months ago.

Yes. I think it took a long time to reach 10k, about 1 to 2 years in my opinion. Because of the possibility of a bad thing can happen, a decline that we did not expect. You are correct but the previous user is being very realistic about his expectations, he is not thinking that bitcoin is going to reach 10k magically overnight he has a time frame of 10 years which in my opinion is too long, but if he is willing to hold for 10 year then any additional gain in the bitcoin price is only going to be a bonus for him.

Definitely it will rise because everyone is using it and the demand will be higher so the result of it will be clear. The price will be increasing drastically quick as the supply will be limited and the price can even higher than $10k by that time. Bitcoin is slowly becoming popular and more investors are getting in but there is still a heavy price manipulation because they know that they are influential like what Jamie did few days ago stating bitcoin is fraud but just a strategy to make the price lower so that they can buy more. It would depend really on the people who are holding majority of the coins and the strategies it would take to make it go up or down.

I agree since the price of all the cryptos are incremental and absolute. I mean since the last fork who would've though that the value of Bitcoin will reach 4k but the only predicted price is 3k. So it is not possible if Bitcoin could reach 10k late this year.

The price went down before the hard fork and weeks later when the fork actually happened the price of bitcoin went up because people began  to sell their bitcoin cash for bitcoin and this increased the demand for bitcoin at the time and as we know that makes the price to skyrocket.
