Prayers are useful to our lives thus when combined with thoughts helps one to build faith in the thought, making it to come to pass. If we believe in the thing not seen, the thought would manifest. Reference to the bible, Hebrew chapter 11 vs 1 is instructive .

I think thoughts will be useless if they will remain thoughts! We need to act upon these thoughts for them to materialize. They won't come out magically from our thought bubbles. And even if we work and act on these thoughts, nothing would be instantaneous. Same for prayers, I believe they work. It's a matter of the subject and object of your prayers. I am speaking based on my personal experience and belief, but hey, I understand it really is hard for some also because of their experiences.

As for the cats, they are pretty much stuborn and independent.. I am not into pets in general, but my cousin used to have cats. While some just worn the furnitures off, some actually caught mice! Others, merely a recepient of my cousin's care, others a furball for cuddles.

Can't say they are completely useless. If the individual who pray gets some peace of mind as a result of it, then it is a productive activity. Even I used to pray when I was a kid. My parents told me that if I pray to the god, I will get whatever I wish for. But when I grew up, I realized the futility of wasting our valuable time on prayers.

Nothing is completely useless; but it's true, there is no divine hand to twist to your will, and children should never be taught that in any case, by nobody, least by their parents... but speaking of thoughts, I marvel at thoughts and imagination because I believe that is where magic happens. Look around at absolutely anything (except nature) big or small, and you will witness all that is - a lot of man made stuff - and every single one of those things started out as a thought!


Edit: exception - radio active waste is extremely useless though.

I totally disagree with you on this one, you thought may be useless based on the fact that their are products of your heart, and the state of your heart is determine the quality of your thought.
But prayer is the process of communicating with God, where you speak and God listen.
And God speak and you listen and take action.

When you are expecting that your prayers will come true then you will be disappointed some of prayers are already came that you need to be thankful i don't know why other always saying that prayers are useless its useful because there are many things that happens to our lives that we need to thank like we always woke up everyday

Thought and Prayers are not useless (the cats), why would you keep them if they are useless in the first place? Like the real thought and prayers, lots of people are hanging on to this things because it can make them feel better or keep on hoping for something to happen. The only negative thing about thought and prayer is if you don't do anything about your thought and prayer.

Prayers are more internal reflection and inner talk between our spirit self and spiritual world, not something what can fulfill your wishes right away.
If your wishes are selfish, don't expect that someone will help you and fulfill it for you.
Spiritually we are like small children or babies and our wishes are often immature and selfish.
When we invest more in our spiritual growth, we become more mature and more close to God's hearth and love.
Only than we will see fulfillment of our prayers.

Thoughts and prayers for me is not useless.
For me, it gives us courage and determination when we feel that we are alone, when we think that there is no one we can depend on.
Its a belief that we are useful. Prayers leads us to a better way. Instead of overthinking, when we say a prayer, we are starting to forget the bad things that are happening and it gives us an assurance that everything will turn out to be good.

Prayers can not be completely useless, they help a person program themselves for success and for achieving great heights, sometimes it helps to recover. Of course, one does not have to rely on one prayer, but it's worth trying.

And prayer leads us to the better way to teach us what is good and bad.

Prayer is nothing but a powerful placebo. We’d all be better off accepting that. When it comes down to it, prayer is illogical, even in religious terms. If God has a plan, why try to thwart it? If God can be swayed by prayers, what kind of God would allow the horrors we see in the world? And if two devout believers pray for different things, how does God choose the winner?
