Aren't checkpoints a form of limitation? Tongue

I presume if a client is on the wrong blockchain then any solo mining will be a wasted effort?

If they are on the wrong chain, yes.

I've been running 4 PCs on 4 different IP's 24/7, it happened once on 1. It will only get more rare.

Ok so I'm still having the same issue with the various P2Pools in here. I could use some help diagnosing this since I'd like to stick to one of those pos for now until the difficulty increases.

I have a 6850. I've set up cgminer (latest build) to connect. I have the proper address, I have played with different difficulty settings (+xxx after the username). I've used -s 1 --queue 0. I've even forwarded the port to my PC just in case.

I always get a whole bunch of accepted shares, it's obviously "working", and I even have my address listed on the static page sometimes, but eventually it fails. I will still be handing in accepted shares, but I never see anything for it. Today I made sure it was running on Fenican's pool. I saw my address in the list etc, then 5 mins after leaving for work, it stopped paying out. I was getting accepted shares all day but no payouts for 10 hours.

This is such a disappointment for me. I don't have the world's greatest hashing power so I was really hoping to get in on the ground floor with this guy, but the fates are against me it seems.

So that said, what could I be doing wrong?  Any advice is appreciated.

With a low rate I would suggest going to one of the other PPLNS pools on page one instead of P2P.

Post your DGC wallet address and i'll send you 5 coins to help soften the blow.

By the way, I will generate vanity DGC addresses! Basically a custom DGC address with whatever you want after the initial 'D' starting each address. I will use split-key generation for a secure method of generating an address without me having the private key. Message me for details.

Can anyone else volunteer as a node for the first post? You need to have the client running 24/7, lots of bandwidth. Ideally a server.

+1 for dgc.scryptmining.com. I've given all the pools a try and they seem to have the lowest reject/stale rate by far. On the order of 2-4% stale on average vs 10-20% (or more!) for others.

I go by threestar most places.

I assume my pool ip is already there, but if not, could be added: 198.245.60.126

Just want to remember you, that my pool is running absolutely smooth.... There is NO POOL FEE

crypto-coins.de:8907

As usual for P2Pool, just Point your miners on the above adress using your Wallett Adress as Username and a random passwort

Example:

Code:
cgminer.exe --scrypt -u DHUqdchzCGUYKABsv3nLkVwJiL93YoNpP2 -p hsdrtu89dfgdhfg8 -o crypto-coins.de:8907

See stats at www.crypto-coins.de:8907

Pool Fee ist 0 %

[/quote]

Pool Fee has been removed

You are now Mining without any Fee

Thanks for the offer.  It's ok though, I just signed up at the scryptmining.com pool and it seems to be running smoothly.  Payouts seem signifcantly smaller than I was getting in P2Pool, but that could be due to the increased difficulty over the course of day 2. At this point it's not so much about the coins as it is the frustration with not being able to connect to a P2Pool server properly.  When I was on the list at those pools I wasn't the lowest hashrate there by any means, I could pull a good 250khs with my card.  Only when I provided my own difficulty mind you.  if i kept it to the default rate my card didn't have the time to complete a share before the next block was found.

I figured there would be an easy trick to the whole thing which would ensure I'd keep a connection (or at least that the pool would recognize me).  if that's just the way it goes, then that's just the way it goes, right? Smiley  I'll try again at some point, but for now I'll stick to the scryptmining pool since I at least know I can connect. Smiley

I may not care for your coin man, but I will say, I totally respect you as a Dev. You are always active, and quick to respond to questions. Kudos. I wish you luck with you coin. Who knows, if it proves profitable, I may be mining it soon Tongue

Indeed, an active dev is pretty important these days.   Wish we had some other active people out there trying to spread the word of this coin though.  Haven't seen quite as many threads as some of the other coins (bounties ect.).  Although that may be to the credit of the well organized first post in this announce thread I guess.
