Spectreproject’s Weekly Update
Saturday, October 14th – Saturday, October 21st
Slack by the numbers - Please join me in welcoming these 31 new  members and say “Hi” when you see them.
thecountofmontecrypto, serg, Stuart, ZecX, JayCee, Ol, Matt666, Mike, Josef, jaridor, recepts, hubba, rodrigotarin, sergipalencia, adrianortola, SDG, ijk, Jacob, dolphin35, Rosco, Carl, mark.cucurella, Sebastian, Sebber, Willpower, domp1, Ryan Kwon, Chandresh Aharwar , Woopie, svarghese, and Sita TSK

Thankfully…..the ethereum phishing scam dm messages and emails seem to have subsided. Which is a blessing. I’m a member of couple of other Slack communities that are still bombarded by this scourge.
One hit me with over 13 emails yesterday!

In the interest of keeping Slack Channels lean and relevant... it’s been a month since “privacy_all_aspects” and “remittance-app” were active and so they were removed today.

Some extremely old and inactive members have also been removed and the community count stands at 841!

Dev Nuts and Bolts - As the end of October draws near, @jbg reports that development continues on track. Although with the funding @Spectreproject provided for Bryce running out...the changes to ring signatures will not be a part of of v1.4 as he will have to finish on a later release. V1.4  will just be the wallet overhaul with complete rewrite of the UI in native Qt. This will mean much easier revisions and updates for future wallets as well as reliability.

Spectrecoin [xspec] News - Where to start? Several things kicking off as the release of v1.4 approaches….

Some may have noticed the “Featured Coin” scroll on Cryptopia is back! We have a nice start on funding for the second week and would welcome any donation of Cryptopia’s “DOT coin” to help us on the second or maybe even a third week.
Please DM me or @harvw for information to make a donation!
I would like to again acknowledge @harvw, @rkh , @spectrum_communitas, @blackswam6969 for adding their “DOT coin” to my own to make this possible.
Huge THANK YOU guys!

Next up!

After a lot of research and discussion…..and requests from members here wanting an
additional exchange. @jbg and I settled on an up and coming one.
Please consider bitsquare for future trades! It’s not just another exchange but, shares the values and spirit of Spectrecoin and xspec.

Want to know the best part? IT RUNS ON THE TOR NETWORK!

We truly believe decentralized exchanges are the future….some of you may have noticed the problems some of the centralized exchanges are having as well as government demands of KYC regulations.

From their FAQ
There are already other decentralized exchanges. How is Bisq different?

Currently no other project fits our definition of a decentralized Bitcoin exchange. (Open Bazaar and BitMarkets stand alone in mirroring Bisq’s principles, but they’re full market places, not specialized currency exchanges.)

To be properly decentralized, one must avoid single points of failure:

  • Bisq does not hold any bitcoins. All are held in multisignature addresses rather than a Bisq-controlled wallet.
  • Bisq does not hold any national currency. National currency is transferred directly from one trader to the other.
  • Bisq uses a Peer-to-Peer network over Tor. This means there are no servers to be hacked or DDoS’d.
  • Bisq does not know the traders. No data is stored on who trades with whom.
  • Bisq does not require registration. This means privacy is maintained, there are no “approval” wait times, and identity theft becomes impossible.
  • Bisq does not operate its arbitration system – traders themselves choose from an open and decentralized market of arbitrators.
  • Bisq is not a company. It is an open source project aiming to organize as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO).
  • Bisq is self-funded by the efforts of its volunteers and contributions of donors.

Submission has been done and we’ll update everyone on Slack when the market is ready.
We will continue to check out others but also very excited to add Bitsquare to our list of exchanges.

Lastly, stop by the reddit established by community members @chaser_888 and @rkh. It’s been up now almost a month and is really starting to grow…..and it looks fantastic thanks to @rkh graphics ability.
Be looking for an announcement soon of an AMA our own @jbg who has agreed to do one after v1.4 is out. Here will be your chance to ask our project manager and lead developer that question.

That about wraps it up! Hope everyone has a great week!

Is it really true that this is the best stealth/anonymous coin? And what advantages does it have against zencash and monero (both of them have been said to be the best at their job)?

I'm asking because price's been really stubborn past few days, honestly, people should be aware of this by now, dev team looks good, software looks good, when will this get the attention it deserves?

That´s very great news from the beachguy. Spectrecoin is really on a good way with great devs behind this coin. We only have to wait for some really great features who come very soon. Hope the community is going out and spread the word for xspec.

You can read a short comparison with Monero here: http://coinwiki.info/en/SpectreCoin#Monero

I have never heard of Zencash.  Huh Their website seems to be throwing around with buzzwords a lot, I don't have the time to look into the whitepaper right now. Maybe you could explain what Zencash does, and then I'll tell you what Spectre does differently.  Wink

Thank you so much for your answer, your response has been amazing in this topic.
I'm not a software dev, so i'm afraid i can't get into technical details with you concerning zencash...i'd just like to know how they compare with xspec because it received a nice amount of attention last few days, because of that palm beach "leak" paper, telling investors that it was the hottest underground anon coin out there

would love to know how Spectrecoin compares to Smartcash and Zencash , two similar coins which have gone on massive runs this last week

Quite Ironic they call it Zencash, I was apart of the ZCL/ZENCASH fork. The development team had a civil war. Zencash uses the masternode system, quite centralized given they all use North American servers. I like what they have done with marketing, and the fact they didn't do the 20% premine as with ZCASH. I wish the Zencash community my best but put faith in the Spectreproject.

Spectre has POSv3, Ring Sig and Works in TOR blocked regions, ZENCASH does not and requires 42 ZENCASH to operate a masternode on a server. There is no masternode requirement for Spectre. Anyone can hold a stake, anywhere in the world given the OBFS4 pluggable transport in the last update.

What is important to understand about XSPEC is that Stealth Addresses are well in the process to becoming default addresses instead of having public addresses for staking. This means staking is untraceable relevant to where the supply is coming. Try to think of this like physical cash. We know how much cash exists in the world, yet have no way of tracking where the cash is. Those staking from Stealth Addresses will be producing Spectre Tokens. These tokens cannot be traced to an address, yet we will know the amount that exist in circulation. 1 million Spectre tokens (5% Static inflation) will be produced each year. Therefore, the current blockchain explorer will not be of any significance. This has yet to be done with cryptocurrency.

I find it a bit tough to wrap my head around this concept if anyone can explain this better.

Worried about my trust rating? I am too. Bitcointalk users ‘Lauda’ and ‘gmaxwell’ have abused their superior powers in trust system to align their views with the ‘correct views.’ In no legal system in any jurisdiction do we have a definition for what Bitcoin is, they do not have the power to tell us what it is based on the rule of law.

The feature that I am most excited about (and the one which for some reason seems to get the least mention these days), is the planned SpectreCash app.

Right! The mobile app is where it's at! Low power PoS on go! That's what first got me hooked on Spectrecoin. The road map has it listed for early 2018, but I'm pretty sure it's in testing phase already.

http://coinwiki.info/en/SpectreCoin#Exchanges

Quote
Bigger exchanges like Bittrex and Poloniex usually decide on their own which coins they want to add, there is no way to force them or pay them to list XSPEC.

We're also working on joining the Bitsquare decentralized exchange, as you can see in the weekly news by Beachguy on the previous page.
