I think its a bad idea because how will you fee the taxi driver? And it takes much longer to pay with bitcoin.

That would be a great idea if you really could pay taxi, uber, and buses with bitcoin worldwide. This will be a less hassle for us commuters and the transaction will improve too.

in fact we have so many expectation from bitcoin and hope that very soon we will be able to use bitcoin for anything we want. as for paying for Taxi, for buying hose  and car and for so many other purposes, but i think it will take some time when the users of bitcoin will increase and when bitcoin will become legal in our country.

Bitcoin in the near future will be useful in any aspect of business, I read in the forum that bitcoin being in the some of the restaurant as payment, others are from bars, buying a house, was being adopted by the Mercedes Benz, which is no wonder it will happen soon, now in for taxi that would be nice if that things will be implement.

Imagine that you dont need to bring out cash.

Bitcoin is not suited for instant payments. The taxi drivers wouldn't also want bitcoin as payment since they already need that money; if they were to accept bitcoin as payments, they would have to convert that to fiat--which is kind of an inconvenience.

It is possible I guess because some stores today accepts bitcoin as a payment for large and low amount of stuffs. And It would be great if bitcoin can  be used to pay taxis. But I guess taxi driver won't allow it as payment. I believe they are sometimes on the urgent need of money and they do not want to lengthen the procedure of making money, and we all know bitcoin fees turns high that might deducted to the profit of a certain driver, so for sure they won't agree on it.

This is a great idea, but as many people have noted right now it is impossible because of the high transaction fees/slow transactions. However, I want to propose a solution.

There should be a reputable site, something like taxi-btc.com or whatever, to where people who want to pay Bitcoin for taxi deposit $100 worth of BTC. Then when you pay to a taxi driver you don't pay from your wallet but pay from that site instead, and the site guarantees that the driver will receive the payment sooner or later. Thus the possibility of double spending will be eliminated and you'll be able to pay around $0.30 transaction fee because there will be no need to wait for the first confirmation.

Another option for lowering the transaction fee is combining many payments, which can be done by the site, and then sending it to a taxi company as one payment. But I think the latter can be done only in the far future when millions of people will be paying Bitcoin for taxi.

payment, given the rate at which the price fluctuates these days. Any company planning to accept is ready to bear

With what is happening in the blockchain presently, that might seem impossible because transaction time is now becoming very slow and with that nobody would want to drive you and then wait for hours to get his money, also the fees are starting to rise.

Advantages and disadvantages will apply to it. First if bitcoin transaction will become smooth and fast then it there is no problem if it will happen and this is the first advantage that we can get.
With regards to disadvantages, bitcoin is not that well known and it will take time for us to let everyone knows about bitcoin.

I think it is a good idea, if we have a bank or company specializing in taxi payment transaction processing. It's like ATM card when we shop, which company or Bank will pay us when taking taxi media, they need better security if they wish to do business. But that's just one idea for the future .

Nope, In our country bitcoin is not popular but even if its popular paying bitcoin to your taxi driver is not convenient. We all know that to earn and transfer bitcoin we need internet and not all the country has a free internet. So for me it is still better to pay your taxi driver a real currency.

I agree. That will prove to be more difficult in reality than in the imagination. It is good if that happens but only if the confirmation time becomes instant and the fee is very low. That is going to happen but not soon enough. I will wait for that time then for the meantime.

But seriously stop trying to pay for everyday stuff with bitcoin it's such a loss that many before you have made so try not to make the same mistakes again... Forgive me but I think I don't agree with you here. Btc is so precious that I might not want to use as a fare in a taxi ride. Besides, if you'll consider the fee you might be paying twice your original fare because of the fees.

I don't think it's just high transaction fee or  slow transactions which is the only problem but it's also the price of bitcoin, it being too volatile buyers might suffer a great loss if or when the price of bitcoin drops significantly so I think we still need some other better idea to get rid of such problems.

Yes the high transaction fee and late confirmation are secondary problems. The price is the Bitcoin is the main and primary problem. If the price come down, then it is a big loss for site owners. And if the price is high it is a loss for users. This is also a disadvantage for site owners. How means if the price is high usually people will not use bitcoins to pay, most of the people will use local currency. Like this there are many problems are there first to solve this issue and next, we will think about this payment method.

It would be great because if you run out of cash and what you only have is your phone.  You can pay the cab with bitcoins.  As for me, I will not use my bitcoin for the ride because I am saving it in much more important thing.

I strongly agree with this . As bitcoin will be adaptable in all kinds of ways and will be as fast as lightning in near future. By having a QR reader using bitcoin as payment in taxi would be fast. No problem in a little tip.
