Consider this as my own opinion, religion is not necessary because it will not give true life. Religion is just exerting effort to be good but it will not change our life totally.

It actually depends on what you believe in; some find solace in the fact that they is a higher power that governs us, however it may seem to be non-existent. To some people, which belongs the to-see-is-to-believe kind, then it would be hard to argue to them that religion is necessary in their lives. Thus, the importance of religion would be a subjective matter, but I think doing good towards other people and avoiding doing bad things would be more crucial that just blindly following any religion without really putting in practice its doctrines.

Each for himself must find the answer to this question. For some, religion has become just an integral part of his life. Someone does not need religion at all. How many people exist, there are so many opinions.

I have noticed more than once that lately the cult of atheism is beginning to gain weight in society. More and more people are beginning to deny not only the existence of a god, but in general of any force in which others believe.

We all need something to believe in. it is certainly better to have something we believe in, look up to, or rules we live by. It comforts us knowing there is right or wrong. The possibility that there is someone watching over us also gets us through rough days.

Weather you believe in Jesus as I do or not. A supreme being is needed as well as a set of standards in order for that society to function. It is the way most people are wired. We are comforted by those standards.

Religion always was a means to suppress the weak and poor, aka "yeah your life sucks but you get into heaven".

I think we can all agree that even without the existence of God and laws, our conscience will always tell that there are some things that when we do it is bad for man as a whole. The so called standards that you are talking about was set up in our mind and hearts not by a deity everyone knows right from wrong even without laws.

I think that organized religions are not good for society. They often use fear tactics, indoctrination, and inspire guilt and shame. They’ve also been the source of many of history’s wars, and have a knack for inserting their beliefs into political systems through their perceived ‘objective morality’. Any good thing that a religions has done (say humanitarian aid, or sense of community) can also be done through entirely secular means.

Religion is best way to brainwash people and to manipulate them. Religion was a necessary thing in the past; I think today people just need something or someone they can believe in and it doesn't matter whether it would be an invisible guy in the sky or unverse, or bracelet on the arm.
It was necessary in past because of what? To send people to war for fake reasons so people can bring them shiny gold things and when they die they will go to paradise

Is religion necessary for humans? Yes! Why? Because nobody knows anything about the future, not even one second into the future. Many people think they know what is going to happen, but the only reason that things work out like they thought is that we have a fairly stable universe. If the stability of the universe was a little more chaotic, people would not be able to make plans, or devise scientific advancements. Why not? Because people can't mentally/spiritually control anything. If they could, we would already have a method for living thousands of years without a population problem. And this would be the simple part of what we could do - levitation, teleportation, traveling to the ends of the universe, many more. The point is, religion is the thing that we use to live our lives without knowing for a fact what will happen, even in the next second. It's called faith and hope and trust = religion.

Religiousness is one of many beliefs that lie in the structural foundations of the personality of any person. For example, we all believe that 2X2 = 4, and no one will ever question this belief. What for? because they taught us this way. From early childhood we are taught to believe in one thing and not to believe in another))

A human without religion is a human without humanity. Religion is a belief, faith, worship, creed, devotions on supreme being. It is important for humans because to have a clear visons on the path they are choosing. It is also made human to be stronger.
