So this coin is mining only? I hope it can stay decentralized.
Yes, BTCZ will stay decentralized because it is ASIC resistant : every gamer, even every body, can mine it with a single GPU. This is a good technical project, a serious team and now a big and strong community. Go BTCZ : the world is yours.

Hello everyone, First off I read this thread and I have to give credit to community supporting it because I do believe it has good structure. Never mined before and gave a try to mine BTCZ with cpu, 70 coins in 2 weeks as you can see here https://bitcoinz.ph/address/t1K8JzU8KKxTsjw1CoyNb2jK8FYpaN4Re7BOf course 70 coins are few but I had proof that it can be mined with regular hardware. Premise is that I am a student and don't have access to liquidity to buy advanced hardware such as graphic cards (which costs 300$ and over). I have been a supporter of BTCZ since I found it even if I can mine only few coins with cpu. What can I do to mine more and support this wonderful project without having to pay much? (in terms of hardware) Thanks your contribution is appreciated. White

For the community, you can help it with a beautifull design for a bitcointalk signature, for example.

This coin is not "mining only", not at all ! You can buy it on several exchanges (see btcz website, OP, this topic) : the principal exchange today is tradesatoshi. And yes, because there no premine and no ICO, it is a well decentralized coin.

Why was the equihash algo used? I hate equihash algo, far too power hungry and makes it expensive to mine.
Why not use an algo thats more memory intensive and less core intensive the way Eth is, possibly with the Eth algo?
Seems to me that would make this more attractive to miners, especially in this early stage where the value is almost nothing. I'd point some of my power at it, but with the cost of power I'd be losing money.
I understand its an investment, however if its not even going to break even due to cost of power then I dont see the demand for this coin rising much. Bitcoin Gold coming soon and Bitcoin Z will be squashed if not profitable.

i prefer equihash over eth honestly but thats because it favors nvidia cards which i own in my rigs.
