The future of Bitcoin directly depends upon its demand.If the demand for Bitcoin is decreased, it will automatically destroy Bitcoin. One of the ways by which its demand can be decreased is if some other cryptocurrency replaces it.People will start using new cryptocurrency for their transactions and investments which will automatically decrease its demand.The other way can be if the government bans Bitcoin transactions and declare it as an illegal currency.The price of Bitcoin is directly proportional to its demand.So if demand will decrease ,price will also decrease which will destroy Bitcoin.

Lost of interest might be one case of it dying, but it won't happen overnight, it's one possible scenario though, a new cryptocurrency might be the thing in 5 years from now. However, there are other, unlikely to happen, reasons that could cause Bitcoin to die out. Negative mass media coverage could cause it to crash, it being considered illegal and slowly shutting down all legal exchanges could be disastrous.

I higly doubt that any of this will happen though, at least anytime soon, or in a short period of time.

Bitcoin is decentralized and that is one of the major foundation of bitcoin why it is not easy for bitcoin to get destroyed but the only person that can destroy bitcoin is us, if we want to destroy bitcoin and the very easy way to do that is to leave bitcoin alone so the miners will not have a work because they will not earn money if there is no transaction and also demand in the market.
