The news is fake, it is still a long way before big guns like Amazon can adopt bitcoin, the volatility of bitcoin is not healthy for retail businesses as it still needs fiat currency for his operations.

I dont think on short term Amazon will accept bitcoin, as soon as it is recognized and is accepted widely there is a very good chance Amazon will eventually accept payments with bitcoin, to be honest I dont even know why they shouldn't, bitcoin has proven itself to be steady and it would benefit Amazon also, this of course would be huge news and cryptocurrency lovers as myself would me madly happy once the news comes out.

Why do you think this? Amazon has not become the monster it is right now by not embracing new technology. They have probably made the simulations tens of times and the results were not good. Btw, Amazon is managing 35 orders a second, more than 3.5 millions a day. All the transactions in the chain in the last day were only 300 000. How many will buy stuff with bitcoin from amazon and how many of those were avoiding amazon before because they couldn't pay with coins? |

i think so someone spreading rumors about amazon as amazon is big dealing company of online nowadays it's natural to have rumors news. without government official announcement regarding bitcoins no one can make it official because it will be illegal.
It is very good news especially for those people who often purchase different commodities through online. The payment will be more secure and transparent. The business of amazon will definitely increase due to this step. I bought bitcoin for two reasons. To increase my assets and to easily use my bitcoin wallet everywhere in the world without any hesitation and also no tension to change your local currency. |

Yea even I have heard about Amazon accepting bitcoin as payment. That would really be good if Amazon starts accepting payments in bitcoins that would be really helpful and I have high hopes about this.
If Amazon started accepting bitcoin then all other big companies of the world will also do the same. Their payments collections will be easier and they will feel more reliable. Therefore I think that accepting bitcoin as regular currency is the new step of bitcoin success. Now more and more people will trust bitcoin and will convert their local currency in bitcoin for their convenience and comfort. |

The news articles that popped up were indeed fake, but apparently, not everyone is realizing that yet.... Other than that, the volatility shouldn't be a concern for any merchant considering to accept Bitcoin as payment option. The far majority of the merchants accepting Bitcoin do that through a third party payment processor -- this service takes care of the entire process, and pays merchants in fiat the next business day. Merchants do have the option to keep a certain percentage of their sales in Bitcoin, but for obvious reasons, this option doesn't experience much use. Especially not when it comes to non tech related merchants. |

It doesn't seem like fake news because there are no solid promises from amazon, just a normal discussion.
The acceptance of Bitcoin on Amazon would be something huge, it would shake the world economy and skyrocket the price of BTC, Thus it is very unlikely that we will see that happening in the near future. I think it will be years until we see that happen, there is too much unknowns now.

Yes, i saw this new a few days ago, and i have to say that i am so impressed about this, because this would be a giant step for all those who are holding bitcoins for long term, if it really happens, then it means that bitcoin will grow a lot in a near future, because a lot of shops are going to add bitcoin to their payment gateways, and it will make bitcoin go up too, so i am happy to see that this is really happening.

This is honestly was good news ..  Thge price could be burst increase if amazon will accept bitcoin and most of the time there are lots of bitcoin users are wanted to buy in amazon since we are buying some hardware related in bitcoin in cryptocurrency there they should also accept bitcoin as payment there are lots of company right now are accepting bitcoin as payment.. And i think if they accepting bitcoin as payment they will use an 3rd party payment gateway maybe bitpay will be their 3rd party as other shops online use it.. Since bitcoin is getting more popularity and bitcoin is easy to use so all people wanted to buy items in amazon can be easily order in amazon.. |

Well hopefully because there are more negative news running from last month than good ones. From jamie dimen, to the chinese ban and now putin, bitcoin could use a good boost and amazon acceptance could pretty much do it |

I just saw this. I will stay skeptic until confirmed news. I mean it's possible. Remember when the fake news about Steam accepting Bitcoins appeared? Nobody was believing that Steam was going to accept Bitcoin, then it got confirmed as fake, but eventually news arose again and guess what, everyone said it was fake news again, but it happened for real. So what this means is, don't think it's fake because it may actually be true and if it's true we are going $10,000 easy. I'll just believe when amazon has confirmed officially from their site. if only from rumor how i will believe that it is true ? |

I don't know if this is possible, but this thread title should be reworded...as it stands this sounds like that if we generate "Bitcoin Speculation", it will be accepted by Amazon, as if Amazon actually wants us to speculate about bitcoin so that the company can then accept this speculation for some reason.
Perhaps a better way to word this would be "Thread for Speculation about Amazon Possibly Accepting Bitcoin" or something to that effect.
