It's expensive because BTC is really hard to harvest and really hard to obtain in a campaign. Back in 2009, you can mine it easily for example, you'll mine 1.btc per day but in the present time you can only mine 0.00001 per hour or something like that because o lot of people have been using BTC thats why the demands has gone high.

For my opinion. Because Bitcoin has limited supply only, 21 million. There are many demands of bitcoins, so if the demand is high then the price is expensive. I just learn that on our subject Economics.
