Its expensive because the law of supply and demand applies on it. There is so much demand on bitcoins , tendecy the price will increase , and if there are many supply the price will decrease. It goes like this , A market with less store and a bunch of people, The prices are higher because of the competition by the people or the users and the higher you price it the more you can have it.

It is base on the demand and the supply , it is expensive because there are many people who wants it so the prices are higher and the people who invests makes a difference to the price of bitcoin, they invest for a good purpose which makes their assets valuable.

Price of a product in market depend on the demand and supply. As according to my knowledge there are only 21 Millions BTC still in market and there are customers are very large in number as compare to present BTC in market. As the demand is increased more and more then price of BTC will also increased more and more while as the demand decrease then price will also be decreased. As the performance of BTC is improving more and more due to which demand of BTC is increasing.

I can only explain if the bitcoin price is not as expensive as it was since it was released in 2009. Public confidence is also hard to come by then, so the demand for bitcoin is still very low. However, after all the bitter things have passed, public confidence is great, the demand for bitcoin is greater than the offer, then the price can be this high. Bitcoin was the first decentralized cryptocurrecy of world.I didnt not require any bank any less trust network.this thing immediately attraced the eminent personalities and lot of companies started accepting money in bitcoin form.that thing incresed the trust of common public and currency started growing.other reason is that you have choice to trade your bitcoin on different exchanges available.everyone loves to own his money so it think these these things made easy for bitcoin value to grow more and more.Volatility is also the facotor people get attracted when see prices of bitcoin has been doubled in 1 month as we have seen in last year.
