I hope you were registered on time to bittrex or binance... Because both was closed for registrations.... I dont trust the rest...
Is the Binance Exchange closed for new users? Yesterday my friend registered using a mobile application and everything went well. Try to follow this path. On the stock exchange the daily limit for registration. But, there need to have a Deposit of $ 10,000 to trade. Your friend have such a Deposit?

Hi. You can use exchange and buy some altcoins there, but it will be better to keep them in cold wallet if you don't want to trade, just hold.

Follow some coins for sometime(you can use coinmarketcap) and look at their market candles to see how well they are trading and then you can buy those coins . Dont panic sell your coins as well, or you might regret some days later.

There are several ICOs that give you a chance to buy a cheap token, and you probably get a good profit from it, just by holding on.

Currently there are some really forward-looking ICOs. I've heard of SmartChain.io... it seems to me that their tokens are worth buying cause nowadays still there's misunderstanding regarding what blockchain and smart contracts are..and they try to change this situation

Well, since you are a beginner, you should start with the basics, read sections for beginners here on the forum, then you will get acquainted with the recommendations on security and only after that you can already register on exchanges and buy your first altcoin.

I think it's worth starting to study the market with top-10 coins by capitalization. They are the most stable, so there are fewer steps to lose your money

I think this is pretty simple. Normally you only need to create an Etherum (MEW) wallet. Then load ETH into and onto any floor. There will be coin prices. All you have to do is click. However, the problem here is the choice of coin to buy. You have to look at the trend of the coin that is rising or falling to make a profit. You need to learn this through experience and experienced people. Or you can spend money on courses on market trends. In general, evaluating coin is very important and requires your mind. The current time you can buy these coin: CMT, ALT, ETH, ... Upcoming will have Arcblock. Good luck

You can use exchanges like binance, kucoin, huobi. Trade BTC or ETH (that's the one i prefer) for the altcoin you want. Always check where your altcoin is. Then register on the desired exchange that lists your crypto.

I guess trade btc or eth is too expensive for him and I think it is better to trade cheap price of the coins and I am sure that he can find many coins that will be good for his target to make a profit. but if he has much of money, then, of course, he can do trade btc or eth and he has a big chance to make a profit from this expensive coins.

There are a couple of "shady" exchanges. So do your research, DuckDuckGo is your friend If have my coins stored at about 5 exchanges, the most value I keep on my Nano ledger. But I can recommend Binance or Bittrex or even Kraken. Always set up a 2 way authentication, easily to set up. If you want to buy directly from your bank account (SEPA), you can use for example litebit.eu They charge a bit higher fee than Binance or Bittrex, but you can also create a wallet using their website. I would not recommend Bitfinex.

Hi. You can use exchange and buy some altcoins there, but it will be better to keep them in cold wallet if you don't want to trade, just hold.
I prefer dealing with decentralized exchanges (an exchange without the regulatory hurdle) like bitshares.org’s DEX. The wallets are supported and hosted by several programs like Openledger, Cryptonomex, Compumatrix and other sites from various countries worldwide.
