Just based off of the commission's and trade volume, you know major exchange's have much more than this amount already, what is the need to prove what we already know? It doesn't matter what amount some exchange has of there own coin, it doesn't mean they would use it to protect there users. Such a proof would only give people a false sense of security.

They could spend there time working on this, and potentially opening up more holes in there system, or exchanges can spend the time increasing there security so they don't end up like mtgox. Without gox as the target im sure these other large exchanges are next.

I like you BitQuick and you know it but..

Apart from the fact that you are not a standard exchange where customer can store funds and trade them realtime (as far as I understand it), your proof does not seem to be optimal to me. Solvency proof has too parts to it: 1. Prove that you in control of some amount of bitcoins. 2. Prove that sum of users bitcoin liabilities are smaller or equal than that. I don't see either of that.

I've also been contacted by bitalo.com (even before bitquick), they are using multisig and (based on the description) they are doing it right, so that you have full control of your bitcoins and no solvency proof is necessary. I like that very much, but again, that's more like a marketplace. It's something very good and it has its place, but it's not an exchange in a classical meaning.

I just got info from kraken and I need to take a detailed look since I just woke up, but it's possible that's what I've been asking for.

Their solution ( https://www.kraken.com/security/audit ) is not perfect but it's better than what any other exchange has done so far. It's going to be just 2 weeks because it's not a full proof of solvency i.e. it still depends on trust to the auditor. I'm happy to promote them because based on my talk with them my subjective opinion is that they know what they are doing.

They plan to release audits quarterly. I definitely would like to see these more often, and with direct proof of control of the bitcoins. I hope this is just a first step to a better future when such proofs become a standard. But a lot of this depends on the community. You can ask your exchange to improve their transparency, and you can vote with your money.

Then I would like to tell you this highlight of Kraken is nice imo. I hope some people will try Kraken cause they are defining some good standards to bitcoin industry. This audit plus the fact they were one (only?) marketplace not being affected by the malleability issue show people they need to ask more from Kraken's competitors. The Gox fiasco should helps that too.

Edit : I'm using Kraken since January and I like the clear and pro interface they got.

I don't mean to bash, after all it is the best step taken so far by an exchange on par with what bitstamp did already some time ago.
But as someone pointed out on reddit these audits are not comprehensive since only BTC reserve ownership is proven and the fiat reserves are not.
And this basically invalidates the BTC audit because you could very easily turn fiat into BTC for the audit and then go back into fractional mode.
Just be careful with the votes of confidence and always do your own thinking.
