Maybe very thin liquidity there (few USD) so it constantly gets eaten away as soon as someone closes a long position?

Nope, because then you see the message "Low USD reserve on Bitstamp" etc...

It's just that at every other refresh of the order book the stamp orders appear/disappear, no further note given.

Edit: Any hint as to why this is happening and when it will be solved? At the typically low order book depth on Bitfinex it's quite scary to rely on a stop loss in this situation.

Another minor rounding error:

On the lending page, under account overview, my BTC is displaying as 0.01 lower than my BTC credit total. They should be equal.

If it were only that... open long position and chances that everything blows up (or down) due to low market depth  when BFX is getting online again...

We all got open positions at BFX which instantly could financially ruin us once this Icelandic "Quality" Provider is coming back on. I am talking of not being able to pay rent or buy food. This event for sure is a reputation ruiner for BFX.

BFX Should freeze all those open position until the market is stable.

TL;DR

This is the last straw for me and BitFinex.

After this I move everything out.

This was posted on IRC and I thought I'd add it to this thread.

*******

I am guessing it's DDoS , because it says "too heavy load".

I am guessing Bitfinex is lying about what's happened here.

i think it could be someone trying to manipulate the market again , like in march / april

with mtgox -  same thing happened

t would be nice to hear from someone , to know what's happening

somebody ran the price up from 1000 - 1020

then , started DDoS on bitfinex

because its probably the easiest exchange to DDoS

then , dumped a hella lot of coins

what happens next ? we wait to see

*******

Bottom line: I think BitFinex are lying about problems in Iceland.

Worst of all there is not even an update on their situation.

This is the last straw for me.

After this I am moving everything to MtGox.

BFX Should freeze all those open position until the market is stable.

They should have backup servers in another location with a separate ISP for these type of instances. This is completely unacceptable.
