Hello,
Bitfinex provides lot of functionality, but there are few things i'm not sure I understand.

what exactly these order types mean? (Limit, Market, Stop, Trailing stop, Fill or Kill)
where can I read more on these, any guides? or can someone explain?

also if you guys could recommend good modern book on trading I'd be very happy Smiley

Regards

There you go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_%28exchange%29

But I don't wanna be a party-pooper --> If you don't know the basics, you will get killed on trading with professionals. Bitfinex is providing services to professional forex/stock traders and they know exactely what they do. If you try to have an edge trading against them, you will have a bad time.

(Sorry)

I've turned my 2.5 BTC to 4 since you've answered to my post. I guess I need to learn more about this stuff. I like it Cheesy

You will eventually lose everything!
Well, at least there's a good chance for the average user to lose a position at some point. The secret is to calculate that in, and not have *all* in one position. It happened several times before that the exchange rate drops by 80%.
I don't want to sound too much like a teacher here, as I have too much at stake too, was too close to being liquidated too, and in my history of Bitcoin speculation lost my share as well. It's all that old greed'n'fear game, eh?

Nevertheless: Congratulations on your success! :-)

Hello Bitfinex and all traders!

BitcoinSites.org just reviewed your exchange, you can check it here: http://bitcoinsites.org/bitfinex/

Thanks for listing us.
On another note removing MtGox from the platform listing would probably be a good idea.

Thank you and have a good day

Giancarlo,
I asked this before, but I don't think there was an answer:
Are the "Unused Swaps" and the actual "Margin swaps" both, a subject of 1 hour minimum charge to trader?
I assume they are and they should be and I can explain why.
Thanks

Any news on allowing liquidity providers ("lenders") to extend deadlines of their outstanding loans?

https://www.coinlend.org <-- automated lending at various exchanges.
https://www.bitfinex.com <-- Trade BTC for other currencies and vice versa.

This! So much this!
I suggested this as well, here and via mail, it was to be considered..
This would help all: the providers get more continuous rates, the lenders have more security, the platform gets more fees from more liquidity! It shouldn't even be that much work under-the-hood to implement this?

Similar idea, with all the benefits:
When a margin trader closes (part of) a position, let him keep the -now free- liquidity, and put it back into his "unused funds". To use it again, or to release it manually.

You have to email customer support and ask for a code.  They will add it to your account.  Got mine in less than 24 hours.

I was just wondering, If someone places a hidden order in the order book, and a trader takes (part of that) order, will the transaction also be hidden or show up in the public trade history, like any other order?

It will show up. Would be unfair if it didn't.

There was once a darkorderbook on gox years ago, but this is not the case here.

I expected as much, but was curious how 'hidden' a hidden order would be. Thanks

What happened with bitstamp routing? Do trades still go through bitstamp or just on BFX's market?

Hi Bitfinex team. I have a problem with your API ("is_hidden" parameter).

When I send a request to your server (open an order), something like this:

Code:
{
       ...
"is_hidden": 0
}

I receive an error:

Code:
{"message":"Key is_hidden should be a bool."}

Okay, "bool" should mean true/false.
I corrected my program and sent this:

Code:
{
       ...
"is_hidden": false
}

And your server sends me the following responce:

Code:
{"message":"Key is_hidden was not present."}

WTF?

I tried also: "is_hidden": "false" and "is_hidden": "0" (as a string, with quotes) - not working.

Please tell me how this parameter must look.

Thanks!

It seems Bitfinex team is on this forum only once in a while, but statistically they should be here soon.
I therefore wanted to remind the team to finish the color coding on the USD swaps pages. It is ALL in dark colors, apparently because BTC color coding scale is currently used. The smallest USD value for the pink/light green to even appear, needs to be in at least $10,000 range (instead of the current $10 or so). Alternatively and as I suggested earlier, the whole system (all trading panels) can be adjusted to USD for volume color coding.
Thanks

The Flash Return Rate for USD swaps is becoming insanely low these days. What gives?

Shouldn't bitfinex be concerned of this as it reduces fee income for insurance?
