Is it possible the attack did us all a favour?
What I mean is, two of the biggest problems with new coins is:
1. Lack of developer commitment.
2. Lack of dev knowledge (the dev only can clone a coin and doesn't have any real knowledge beyond that).
By doing this attack and forcing you to bring out an updated wallet it tested the resolve of the community, the developer skill and commitment. It may have felt like a setback when you were up all night coding but I think it's actually helped show that Phore is a real project.
I never really considered the lack of knowledge past cloning a coin, that's good point.
Lots of confidence now after how things were handled plus the quality of the wallet update (probably one of the nicest looking too)
Will be interesting to see if it will attract additional community developers after it hits cryptopia
Yeah it's a big problem with new coins, Xios for example is a mess because the dev just cloned Crave coin and stuck a new badge on it without knowing what to do beyond that (other than pumping and dumping). Now they have multiple forks and coins are getting lost in transit.
Phore was a PivX clone but the devs were honest and upfront about that and they actually have the developing skill and dedication to turn it into something else. I think the marketplace will be a game-changer.
There are two coins with anonymous marketplaces coming soon (like a decentralized Ebay with privacy), Phore and Particl. I've invested in both because I see these marketplaces as the next big evolution for crypto for a few reasons.
1. It solves having to convert crypto to fiat, why convert Phore to fiat to buy a laptop, if you can just buy a laptop with Phore?
2. Being able to buy items with Phore solves government meddling, who cares if governments ban cryptos if there's no way governments can stop them?
3. Being used on Silk Road, Agora and other darknet markets is how Bitcoin, Dash,Monero etc gained popularity and drove their value, I see a similar thing happening with Phore and Particl if they can get their marketplaces up and running within the next few months.
I think Phore has flown under the radar a bit. It's gained popularity as a masternode coin but it has the potential to be so much more than that. If they can do what they want to do we'll be talking about Phore the same way people talk about Eth, Dash or BTC, the potential is huge.
