I think human factors such as drunk driving, phone usage, speeding and skill level are still the main contributors. I couldn't find a good source about global figures, but there is this research about Saudi Arabia specifically: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0033350600003061, which states that "Over 65% of accidents occur because of vehicles travelling at excess speed and/or drivers disobeying traffic signals". These human causes can possibly be solved by technological advancements such as automatic pilot technology, a definitive solution to that could be an integrated network of all vehicles, which needs to be somehow protected from hackers..

I think the main cause of vehicular accident is by driving while they are drunk and also lack of  road safety I guess.  Uses of gears and helmets can actually not prevent accident but it can decrease the chance having a severe injury or worst it can lead to death.

Lack of knowledge about driving and rules. Uncontrolled people and was not oriented of how dangerous driving is. Attitude and patience is also a factor

The main cause of accidents is the lack of training and discipline of people; especially in the Philippines, most of the drivers tend to over speed and drive while drunk. Also, people are most often than not, forget that they need to check their vehicle condition first before travelling, which then eventually resulted to mechanical malfunctions or lost brakes.

This is the sad reality as of now, but thankfully we have tesla auto-drive cars now that can prevent this from happening. Yet, we should be always responsible and read for whatever things we decided to do, because it is the first step to ensure everyone's safety in roads.

because we observerd sometimes that everyone is in hurry while on driving or they are using Mobile phones while driving.. And also lack of training and disipline.

This morning near my bus stop was an accident. The car hit the tram and it caused an endless traffic jam. Last week there also were 2 the same accidents in my neighborhood. Seems like car drivers are always in hurry and it is the main problem as for me..

For me,  the main cause of accidents is the drivers present in mind , what he is driving the hi- way  that he is in motion. The condition of the vehicle he must be aware.The traffic rules and regulations must be follow by the driver and conductor. Well, I think tge most common reason for road accidents these days is lack of discipline. Most of drivers violate a lot of traffic rules which results to accidents that also affects civillians as their victims. Every drivers should know how to follow rules to avoid road accidents. Know their speed limits and value each other's life.

for me the main cause of accidents in road are people who are always late. they tend to get to their meeting on time so they need to step on that accelerator, but if you go early maybe you dont need to rush and take your time driving safely.

Here in our country the main cause of car accident is drunk driving and also using cellphone while driving.the other reason is fast driving.Before we drive do not drink alcohol for safety ,check the condition of your car and maybe check yourself.

In my country also, that is one of the primary reasons. And in addition to that the people in general don't obey or follow the traffic rules and they think that it is "macho" to break the law. On top of all this, the penalties are not very strict and people can easily get off for even major traffic violations and accidents by bribing the policemen.

Here are the causes of road accidents in my opinion.

Unable to recognize danger
-while others are slowing down recognizing dangers (defensive driver) others just want to keep on moving fast (the always in a hurry one).

Lack of driving knowledge or experiece.
-sometimes accidents are cause by ignorance. Anticipation on the road is a must. It can only be learned through experience.

Wrong mindset
-reckless driving when you are in a hurry causes accidents. Following traffic regulations is a MUST.

Population Control
-there's nothing we can do on this one. It's Gods will and we should just accept it but don't make it as an excuse. Be a responsible driver.
