Yes, there are many people using the MEW from many days but i don't know whether MEW is in online from 4 years. When it comes to security you have to use MEW for Ethereum based coin in MEW and it will be very safe until if you don't share your private key to them.

Well I can say you that Myetherwallet developers were in a way cheaters. As noone has access to your funds, and it cannot be hacked as the information isn't stored at one place.  You and only you is responsible for secure. Isn't this cheating?) Like why shall we care for secure, let us give access only to creator, so he is the only one who will be caring for secure.
