Yes, it seems like since the profit is at 1.77% now and it will be at 1% in the infinite future, the profit has to go down now. Although the profit going down to 1% would be just as possible as the profit going up to 2.54%.

If the site was up 1 BTC on 10 BTC wagered, we'd be at 10% profit.  You might think the profit has to go down for the profit to reach 1%, but it doesn't.

If later the site is up 10 BTC on 1000 BTC wagered, the profit is up from the previous 1 BTC and the site is now only up 1%.  The profit has increased from 1 BTC to 10 BTC while simultaneously decreasing from 10% to 1%.

See how that works?

Even if the site had won exactly 1% of all wagers after the initial "1 BTC from 10 BTC", then when it was at 1000 BTC wagered (an increase of 990 BTC) the profit would be up 9.9 BTC to 10.9 BTC, an overall profit of just 1.09%, very close to the expected 1%.  So even though the house performed just as expected after the initial good luck, the profit still returned pretty much to the 1% level where it should be.

In short the percentage profit isn't expected to fall because the profit falls, but rather because the total wagered increases.  There are two ways of making X/Y get smaller: decrease X or increase Y.

does jd do anything to protect user privacy and anonymity? does it log IP addresses? does it log conversations from chat? does it delete information that is not useful long term?

JD does log IP addresses and chat conversations.  None of this information will be shared with any third party unless I'm compelled to by law.  It's useful to have this information when investigating past events.

dooglus, a suggestion. And I'm sure you've thought of this already, but just in case you haven't. Have "verified" accounts or have accounts flagged as "non-spammer" or "regular".. Basically, your countermeasures are not used for those particular accounts.

Brand new accounts are treated as normal. Regular accounts are accounts of people you know for sure are legit players (like me, #15 and others you know are not using spam bots. It is also likely that regular accounts have deposits, and spam accounts don't actually play the game.

And for those people intending to encrypt their chat messages, just don't chat private information on the game web site chat. Go PM or email each other directly.

No, you are a victim of Gambler's fallacy. Ironically, that is what is making this site so much money.

I hate to contradict you fine fellas, but gambler's fallacy does not take into account variance. Ironically, that's why so many skilled gamblers still win despite the house edge.  Cheesy

Given enough time the profit percentage will approach closer and closer to 1%. But this doesn't mean we have to take a loss on our investment over this same time period.
Correct, not necessarily. However, given the large variance, most often you will take a loss that will materialize unless you are ready to wait out for the variance's rebound to the positive side, or the house edge even out the negative variance in the unforeseeable future.

In short the percentage profit isn't expected to fall because the profit falls, but rather because the total wagered increases.
I must disagree - although I understand your use of the term "in short", it should be clarified that your sentence applies only in long term. The percentage profit is expected to fall because variance temporarily causes more losses to the house than we should statistically expect given very long (or infinite, requiring on parameters investigated) time.

For the reasons presented, I am not investing now, and would be willing to bet that the absolute number of BTC that the site is up will be coming down at least 10% from the current number of 1794.

As a investor, I would like to see even more security countermeasures added to prevent theft.  I google 2-pass auth is great but for investors to leave a significant amount of funds on the site, I would like to see a counter-measure so that even if the phone is compromised funds cannot be withdrawn.  My suggestion, allow investors the option to set a finite list of bitcoin addresses (say 5) that are the only bitcoin account they can withdraw bitcoin from the site to - this way even if the account is compromised, the bitcoin cannot be withdrawn away (though I suppose a truly malicious attacker could gamble it away).  Still, just the presence of such a security mechanism would desuade attackers from pursuing this route.

Should the legitimate owner have lost access to his wallet and therefore these keys, then they will need to email you to change the bitcoin address lock.  One mechanism can be when they first activate a lock they answer a security question ("Mother's maiden name?, First Pet's name?, etc) and they need to provide that to you to have you manually unlock the bitcoin address lock.

The exchange https://fbtcexchange.com/ uses this type of security mechanism.

That is a good idea indeed. Locking the withdrawal addresses.

Although it must of prime important to make sure that no hacker is able to crack the gambling code to win thousands on bitcoins in a short amount of time.

On the main betting page, the betting ID's are not one after another but jump ahead.

22716523
22716492

Does this mean the main betting page is only showing a small section of all the current real-time bets?

Yes. I'm guessing it's a combination of selective sending as well as marking the message as volatile.

Is the site down?  This is my first time working with Just-Dice and I was trying it out and sent .18 bitcoins to my account, waited about 30 minutes and still didn't see anything in my account, and now when I reload the page all that I am getting is a single word in the top right that just says "no."

What does this mean?  I am not too happy that I sent coins and then all of a sudden I just get a random page that says No to me.

Edit: I can get to the site from my phone and login to my account. So what's going on from my computer?

Few pages back he explained it. Since there are so many bets per second he can't show every one. The real small bets won't always be shown.

I cannot access the site from my computer, only from my phone.  When I try to go to just-dice from my computer there is a message that is telling me "No."

I'm sorry about that.  Someone has been attacking the site by continually reconnecting to it.  If you connect over and over it will temporarily block your IP address.  Like you say, using a device with a different IP address will fix the problem, as will waiting for the block to expire.

Or just contact me using the email address in the 'contact' section of the FAQ and I can manually unblock your IP address.
