Both I guess. But if you are talking about which is better I definitely go to bitcoin bias aside. Well, as far as I know about altcoins it is something alternative coins based from the word itself alternative it does mean that it was created as an alternate to be specitic as a substitute or proxy or something that is use as for mimic to bitcoin, so I much prefer bitcoin over altcoin talking about which is profitable, basing from observation I cannot or we cannot put an answer to it we do definitely need a serious study to it to be specific a mathematical study to put an answer between the two. But if it way talking which is better then my answer is bitcoin, for safer I guess both, for profitable I cannot yet answer it.

It depends, that is my opinion. Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency. Thanks to Satoshi. And for the past years, bitcoin has become so wild and exciting. People tend to react for its price drastically increase in the last year. Bitcoin has become one of the mother coins among all and become beneficial to those who transfers money even on what country or continent you are. Thanks to bitcoin, easy remittances are also being made. It is truly been proven that bitcoin itself is safe and profitable. On the other hand, alternative coins are made to enable to overcome bitcoin and become a better bitcoin. At some point before alternative coins and tokens are made, there are what we call ICO Initial Coin Offering. Some youtube videos consider it as very risky investment. Because the team might run and just get money from people without hesitation and never continue the project. But for me to be able to really protect my money, I used to buy ICO to those bounty managers who has high ranks example are legendary, hero member, senior member, with these, I might have the 100% trust that this coin will succeed and successful.

With no doubt,bitcoin would be the best choice of investment against altcoins which have a very high volatile market . also, most of the altcoins disappear in the long run as most of the newly released coins are just shot coins. If still you want to invest in altcoin, then it would be wise to invest in two or three coins to minimize the losses.

For me i choose bitcoin. Bitcoin is the long term in terms of cryptocurrency. Altcoins can be short term because when the price is high and many people sell it that time so after that it goes down again.

I only see that they are just the same when you used to convert, Bitcoin sell to buy altcoins, or altcoin sell to buy Bitcoin?
I believe that both are the same profitable, both are possess a good status in the market though both different from each other when it comes to their value. And yes it's true, today bitcoin is too expensive to afford by an ordinary individual even me I admit that I can't afford it by buying using my savings. |

I think most of the altcoins need more gestation time before they can start producing. They need to produce more tangible results and then they'll gain some traction. I'm just speaking of them as a whole and not as one particular coin or token.
Bitcoin and Altcoin are actually both safe and profitable ..in different ways of course .there is positive and negative in each currency...since that bitcoin is more known cryptocurrency than any crypto..many are investing in bitcoin..but we all need to knoe that bitcoin is way of payment and purchase...and for Altcoin, use the blockchain technology and solves a lot of problems faced in the real world....example If you buy btc worth like 50 USD and invest it in altcoin..even btc went down your 50 USD that you invest in Altcoin will not be affected in the changes of btc..though that you should first buy bitcoin to get altcoin.. So which one is MORE profitable?? Well just this..when you invest in bitcoin..just invest the amount that you are ready to loose...but if you think btc.or altcoin..safer to invest is btc.but take note of this that if you invest in altcoin there is a tremendous and quick growth but risky..so its all up to us if we take risk or just stay on our comfort zone.. |

I believe that every coin could give profit for a long-term but we still need to find which coins that will give that profit. I think you can go with bitcoin and ethereum like many of us suggested and you can hold it as long as you can and not going to sell if the price does not increase high. I think cryptocurrency is safe and you can invest your money in bitcoin and many altcoins especially with the coin which have a strong community and you can see the price will increase later.

Both the coins are profitable but you need to check fundamentals before investing in altcoins. Now-a-days some altcoins are giving higher returns. If you want to invest for long time then go for bitcoin.

Bitcoin and altcoin are both separate. Bitcoin is not a single owner. And there are owners of altcoin. The company's loss could actually scam. On the other hand, there may be a change in the price of Bitcoin but it will not be.

Its a hard decision. Bitcoin and ethereum is more safer. With safe i mean the price is more stable. But altcoins will be much profitabler. With altcoin its possible to make 50x or more. With bitcoin and ethereum this will not happen in the next time. But for your portfolio i would recommend you a good mix between bitcoin, ethereum and other altcoins. So dont go all in in one coin.

Bitcoin and altcoin have their respective advantages, I think the safety and the profits depends on ourselves on the start, the process, till gain profit. If can managing the investments between the both, it will be much better.
However.. in essence it's good we choose according to what we more can mastering it.

A lot of people are arguing that Ethereum is safer than Bitcoin since it has better technology and more utility, which contrasts with Bitcoins main asset of it's name brand and being first. However, it can’t match the potential short term rapid growth and gain in an altcoin. My current stance is to have the part of the portfolio that you want to keep conservative in Ethereum and use the amount you are willing to take risks on among various alt coins. The one caveat is that you have to find alt coins with actual potential value and not the various pump and dump scamcoins.

There are users who are very doubtful about the use of an Altcoin and end up investing only in Bitcoin. Many users (including me) invest in Bitcoin because its value will grow over time, plus that value is greater than gold and this is a big step. I have also noticed that the name of Bitcoin keeps appearing in the media, this is something that has helped with its growth, because when they talk about a product product and its used, this generates more reputation and credibility.
On the other hand, the Altcoins market keeps growing in a spectacular way and every day I see new projects that excite users.
